Cork City The Odyssey IMAX

Has anyone been to see the Odyssey somewhere in cork? I would love to see it in as close to IMAX as possible, while I know cork doesn't have any true IMAX screens I'm conflicted between mahon point omniplex or hypersense in arc cinema.

Last time I went to see avatar in mahon point omniplex it was atrocious, the projector was so dusty and had visible streaks where the dust was disturbed. Made it a very unenjoyable viewing experience, so I'm wondering if anyone's been recently and if it's any better these days.

Thanks !

The are blaring their jibberish down by the cruise liner. Unfortunately the passengers love it because it is the only time they will have to listen to it.

North City Link

Upvotes

Has anyone living on the North City Link noticed an increase in anti-social behaviour lately? I never really noticed it before but the past three months have been bad. Lots of yelling, interesting characters and needles/bags on the ground. Not complaining just want to see if I’m just being dramatic.

Are there any gyms in or around Cork City that you can bring a small baby to? Baby would be kept in seat or pram. Class suggestions also welcome. Thanks!

Paul Street Goths Extinct?

It's awful to see the effects climate change is having on their natural habitat. The Paul Street goth population has been completely devastated.

In my day, you couldn't move without bumping into a goth in head-to-toe black, carrying a skateboard and drinking a can of Monster. At any given moment, there would be at least twenty of them sitting on the bike rail outside Tesco, smoking rollies and communicating through obscure band lyrics.

Now, sightings are increasingly rare. Experts say they had migrated to dark corners of the peace park but now that's been destroyed, it was the final nail in the coffin for Cork cities goth population. Now it's feared they've been absorbed into the wider population sustaining themselves on depop.

Cork City Council really needs to begin urgent conservation efforts. Paul Street should be restored to its natural ecosystem, with additional shaded areas where goths can rest without overheating and a protected supply of eyeliner, studded belts and a dedicated piercing artists.

If this fails we must take it into our own hands and start a grassroots breeding programme and see if the habitat is still viable by introducing that one cousin who gives off school shooter vibes.

Future generations deserve to witness the Paul Street goth in the wild, chain smoking in the rain while insisting that nobody understands them.

Seen this house go up 3 times now, once last year with barry auctioneers and then with Jeremy Murphy. Then sale agreed and now back up again with Jeremy Murphy. Just wondering if anyone knows why this house won't sell (from someone who's looking)

They have to equally as annoying as the leprechauns. Shouting at people from across the street to come talk to them or walking into their path . Purely unregulated sector who apply guilt with no context !!

Bus ramps falling apart

The wheelchair/buggy ramps are regularly falling off their hinges or causing problems when sensors get a false positive detecting they're still out when they're not, which means the buses can't be driven. They're flimsy and rusted and plainly unsafe at this stage. It's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt using them.

Drivers have told me the maintenance regime is abysmal.

I've talked to middle managers and written letters to councillors, but nothing is changing.

Has anyone else encountered this stuff?

What’s the deal with these two crossings by UCC?

An I right in thinking that they’re not official crossings where motorists must give way, that they’re courtesy crossings where pedestrians do not have an automatic right-of-way?

The Lough is a wild place

Went to the Lough after seeing so many posts about weird shit always taking place.

Spent plenty of time watching the birds and listening to some audiobooks and eventually went to the cafe nearby to grab a cheeky refreshment.

Finally accepted it's a quiet day down here, and focused on enjoying the scenery. Out comes a muscular, shirtless man (carrying his shirt) running around the Lough screaming a name. I thought his son may have gone missing so I started looking around for a little kid who may have been looking for his parent.

NOPE.

This guy was holding a crack pipe. Turns out the guy he was looking for was directly across the water, so he started swinging his shirt in the hopes that his friend would see him. I'm happy to say they were reunited and are likely enjoying their crack together as we speak.

Lads, 10/10. I'll be going there more often. Such an interesting place.
