I’m based in Europe and recently picked up a brand-new Xbox Series X (Digital Edition) from a major local retailer (MediaMarkt). Got a pretty decent deal given current market prices, but when I got home I noticed a slight curveball.
The box is fully factory sealed with original seals, but all the text on the box is in Japanese, along with a prominent **"FOR JAPAN ONLY"** label. When I registered the serial number under my Microsoft account, it accepted it immediately, but the 1-year warranty is already ticking from mid-May (even though I bought it brand new in July).
For anyone who has imported or ended up with a Japanese console in Europe/US:
1. Are there any hidden region locks, power supply issues, or practical downsides I should be aware of?
2. Has anyone successfully updated their MS warranty start date to the actual purchase date by submitting a store receipt to Microsoft support?
3. Given it’s a grey import sold by an official retailer, would you keep it or just return it for a native EU version?

So i just found a slightly used series x yesterday for only 300$ and it had the elite 2 controller included. me and the seller agreed to the deal and i was supposted to buy it today, i texted the seller in the morning and i was just on my bed scrolling tiktok waiting for his reply, then i just fell asleep on accident. The seller tried to contact me multiple times and he thought i didn't want it anymore so he sold the console to someone else, now i wake up and see this, i wanted the console for gta 6 man i feel so dissapointed i missed out on such a steal deal and in my country barely anyone owns this console and if they do they sell it at a premium, in a week the series x becomes 800$ and this will cause the price to increase on the used market aswell. Im just sharing this with everyone and i hope it helps me feel better

i’m relatively new to gaming ive played mostly less demanding games on pc and so i didn’t need a very advanced set up. im looking to get more into high end games since i finally managed to get a console. i prefer playing at a desk but am unsure of what i need in terms of a monitor. i have seen two online relatively low budget but want an opinion from a more experienced gamer.

May be an unpopular opinion but I think the decision to put crossplateform in almost every multiplayer games was a wrong idea. I play a lot of competitive games and playing against PC players is just unfair and frustrating.

I know a lot of games you can turn off crossplay but then you have to wait for so long.

And anyways, the fact that Sony authorized Mouse and Keyboard on PlayStation was a dumb decision. It is so unfair in most gunfights. Multiplayer PvP games used to be so good, now we just play against sweaty Mouse players and I am so tired of it.

Is $500 too much to sell my base PS5 with 2 TB of SSD, controller, 20+ games?

Also what are best subreddit to sell it? I dont care much for GTA5 and switched to PC

I’m wondering what console combination is best for my purposes. I currently own a Xbox Series X and a ROG Xbox Ally.

The Xbox is what I use 90% of the time with Game Pass. The Ally is used on the odd trip and for Steam games I either can’t get on Xbox or are just way cheaper on Steam.

I used to own a PS5 but found it too similar to the Xbox in terms of games other than exclusives. So I sold that.

I’m considering selling the Ally and getting a Switch 2 but worried the only thing that would give me are Nintendo exclusives which I have enjoyed in the past but they don’t always work for me. For example, loved BoTW but hated ToTK. Same with Mario Odyssey and DK Bonanza (yes, I used to have the Switch 2 but sold it).

Anyone got any thoughts they would like to share?

I get pretty good deal for ps5 disc fat version model CFI-1016A which happen to be the launch model back to 2020 the guy told me he did pearly open it and mainly focus on his job and he did invite me to test for many hours I want before buying so I know he is trustworthy

With the impromptu earlier release of the Switch back in 2017, Nintendo now operates as basically the half generation.

In comparison to the XBOX ONE / PS4 era the Switch was selling OK, but in comparison to the XBOX Series / PS5 era, the Switch sold like hotcakes.

With the Switch 2, it has already sold ≈20 million units, in comparison the PS5 has sold ≈94 million and XBOX Series S/X at ≈28 million. Suffice to say, it is already selling very well compared to those 2 in respect of its lifecycle.

However with RAMpocalypse, and just overall increases in hardware prices, it will be very interesting to see if we will start seeing a greater shift in sales, like will Sony have the PS6 surpass 80M units, like all their previous consoles, and can this new XBOX leadership return them back to the 360 days of actually having XBOX hardware mean something.

Nintendo definitely seams like more of a default/value proposition this time around, as opposed to a compromise/lesser-than experience, with quite a few major 3rd party games coming to the console.

On that last point, will studios in a way prioritise their Switch 2 ports in order to ensure the greatest number of consoles that can play their games, instead of pushing for high resolution, high fidelity and intensive operations. What sort of landscape will that mean for games in terms of overall gameplay vs looks.

The 7th generation of consoles was the only generation with 3 strong players, since XBOX fumbled the bag, since the 8.5th we've only been in a 2 horse race. Are we looking towards a 9.5/10th gen being just a 1 horse race with just Nintendo, alongside PC?

It really is going to be interesting seeing how the hardware side of the video game market shakes up over the next 5-10 years.

I have a PS5 and an Xbox Series S. I'm wondering whether I should wait for a potential new Steam Machine/console, or just sell my Series S and upgrade to a Series X?

I'm curious which is better at handling games that have a lot of visual stuff (particle effects, high detail textures, etc.)

For example, Final Fantasy XVI is a game which tends to have a lot of particles, glowy/moving textures and lights.

So, I'm curious if both would be able to handle it the same. Or would the experience be inferior on one over the other? (Fyi, I prefer playing games on performance mode. Slow framerates bug me far more than lower resolutions do.)

It feels like outside our bubble, no one is giving a shit about all of this. My friends at work who also play on PS5 (some of them on Xbox), always have this idea that digital is more convenientthat nowadays, nobody buys physical games anymore, and so on. Some of them even said they don't own a physical game since early PS4 era, which is crazy to me because the PS4 era was probably the one I bought most physical games in my life.

I recently got a Nintendo Switch 2 as a gift from family, but I already had a Xbox Series S. I don’t really feel I need two consoles as I don’t have much free time for games anymore, I usually play one game at a time and just stick to that one for awhile. Probably 4 or 5 hours a week at most I play. I figured I could just the Series S and try to get some extra cash. Do you think it’s wise to sell the Series S ? I was going to try over marketplace and see what I could get. Or should I just keep it of if I am not going to get much value in money back. Like only 100 $ or something wouldn’t seem worth it.

I've been collecting physical PlayStation games for years and have always preferred owning discs. But with Sony reportedly ending physical game production from 2028, I'm starting to wonder if it's time to make the switch.

Part of me thinks going fully digital would make the transition to the PS6 much smoother. Assuming PS5 digital games carry over, I'd have my whole library ready to go without worrying about discs. I also have a PlayStation Portal, and streaming/accessing digital games is definitely more convenient.

On the other hand, I really enjoy collecting physical games and having something tangible on my shelf.

Has anyone else already decided to go fully digital because of this? Or are you planning to keep buying physical games for as long as they're available? I'd love to hear your reasons either way before I decide.

As of now digital games have to compete with second hand discs for your hard earned money. This results in a downward pressure on prices. Sony and Microsoft can remove this pressure and give themselves a near monopolistic power over game prices. Also going all digital gives Sony and Microsoft complete control over what you can do with the game you purchased. A good example of this is GTA6, the first major release on consoles to be all digital. They are charging $80 for just the standard edition of the game and the physical version doesn’t come with a disc. This sets a horrible precedent for future releases. There are some situations where it doesn’t make sense to have physical media like nobody is buying dvds anymore to watch movies but in this situation we have these corporations shitting on the consumers with the convenient excuse that 85% of game sales are digital only.

Sony said no to physical dics but PC gamers are developing PS5 app and running AAA games with 60 FPS .This is so wild !!

They wasted 100 billion and tried to undercut Sony just to be number 1, but why? they'd be better off even if they sold 1/3rd of what Sony did and just focused on profit and release good games with what they have, is it not profitable if you're not in the top? if they wanted to be first they could've bought Nintendo as it wins like every second generation and they costed less than Activision alone.

I post this up on fb market place and got bombarded with messages in seconds. I tried looking at comps after but not really seeing the same type with happy home designer pre downloaded. Only alot of XL, not standard 3ds. My question, is what's the average resale on this in USD, or is it something I should be holding onto longer.
