How can we help endangered animals as individuals?
I grew up catching crayfish in a creek behind my grandparents house and i went back last summer for the first time in probably 15 years. The water looked fine but what got me was how quiet it was from what i remembered with no more crawdads under the rocks. I spent the whole drive home wondering how can we help endangered animals when the decline is that invisible. any solutions when the problem is this small compounding stuff we cant realy see in front of us?

Habitat loss being officially removed from the definition of “harm” is a disaster for manatees. Tell Congress to Protect Natural Springs and Shores for Manatees: Support H.R. 8919 and H.R. 9590
The endangered species act losing habitat destruction as a definition of harm is a massive setback. Fortunately there are bills in the house you can urge your representatives to support

Question for conservationists
I want to dedicate my life to conservation, it is the most important thing in the world to me. My current plan is to get a bachelors biology education degree and become a science teacher.
Is there any way to apply this in a way that helps the environment of this planet, or even a completely alternative career route?
I have not started school yet but am planning to start soon. If anyone has any words of guidance for an aspiring conservationist, please, regurgitate them to me, as birds do.

Help needed - debating industry experts
Hello! I hope this is allowed here....
In my town there's a bit of a storm brewing about some proposed developments. There's some experts coming in to offer "impartial engagement" with the community, except they're being paid for by a private company that are trying to lobby the council to greenlight a potentially very environmentally-damaging new commercial venture. I want to attend the sessions to hear what their arguments are, and to try to discuss the topic with other members of the community who might be currently on-the-fence. I want to question their claims, but I'm worried that they're seasoned professionals, and I'm not an expert in the topics at hand - I don't just want to provide a platform for them to give polished rehearsed answers that sound great on paper but are ultimately BS.
Would any experienced conservationist or anti-lobbyists here have any tips on how to navigate this?
Thanks!

I am looking to go into environmental science in college, what are some things i can do to immerse myself?
Sorry if this is worded wrong or anything as this is my first reddit post. I want to know what i could do in high school outside of school that can help me expand my knowledge and get a good college resume. I can volunteer but the only placing I've found are 3+ hours away from me, I'll still try and get to some but I cant do it often. I'm in Arizona if that helps at all. What are some things i can do that get me involved in environmental science?

interview w/ a professional conservationist
Hi all, I am an Ecology student with a special interest in Conservation. I am currently working on a video essay about the pet trade, and I am curious as if there is anyone that would be interested in answering a few questions over video call regarding the pet trade, specifically the ethics of retail sales of small animals.

Looking for fully-funded conservation trips
Hi I am 17F from UK and after sixth form I aspire to be a conservationist. Whilst looking at university courses, many would like experience within conservation which I do not have. I would love to be able to attend a residential camp where I can be around others who aspire to become conservationists. However, most of these camps cost a lot of money which me nor my family have. I was wondering if anyone here was aware of any fully funded camps I could attend/apply for?

Stop the Luxury Marina: Final weeks to support the Save Moon Camp campaign in Big Bear
🦅 CRITICAL DEADLINE: Jackie & Shadow’s pristine 63-acre hunting habitat at Big Bear Lake is at risk of becoming a luxury housing development. The community has raised over $4.3M, but the July 31st deadline is racing toward us. Every dollar donated before Aug 1 goes directly to buying the land—preventing a massive, high-interest bank loan. Even $5 makes a massive difference right now. Let’s protect Moon Camp permanently! 🌲 Go to savemooncamp.org to pitch in or share. #SaveMoonCamp #BigBearEagles #JackieAndShadow

Why aren't public lands defended better?
With the recent reduction in public lands in the state of Utah, what is there we could expect to see aside from the privatization of that land? Why don't we have protections for public land that once designated it cannot be undone, in other words grow but never reduce? If this becomes the norm we look at a breakdown of ecological environments throughout the country that are unique to the United States. The threat of big oil for instance in the arctic near our wildlife preserve ANWR is a good example of this. In short, why aren't public lands protected more seriously like they aught to be and what can we do to fix that?
