Hey everyone! I'm looking for recommendations for a larger, eye-catching centerpiece fish for my 60-gallon breeder setup. I really want a bigger species with serious presence and vibrant personality to act as the ultimate main attraction. What are your top suggestions for a standout centerpiece species that thrives in a 60 breeder? Thanks in advance for the ideas!

This is my first cichlid tank. I have a generous amount of pool filter sand and 36 escargot shells, plus a handful of additional turbo snail (saltwater) shells. Many shells are buried. Various Anubias are wedged into the rock and there’s Jungle Val growing in the background. Hydrocotyle Japan and pothos cuttings growing emerged. This tank is 2 weeks new and the shellies have been in there for 4 days now. There are only 3 shell dwellers, that’s all my LFS had. They are Neolamprologus Multifasciatus. Very cool. I’m hoping I have a pair to raise babies. Any help sexing is much appreciated. I heard these are notoriously hard to sex. Are ramshorn snails going to become feeders? Thanks for any help.

I have a still very young 10 cm red spotted severum and in terms of body it’s mixed, there are face patterns but there more blotches and not stripes rounded dorsal fin with small point, and the lack of pattern in the body, but now there is a small point where there breeding tubes are is at this size a accurate way to tell the gender or is it not fully developed yet? The severum is alone there arnt any other severums in the tank only a pair of acara and a apistogramma. In the foto the breeding tubes is covered but it’s about a millimeter and semi round, when i compare it to my acara it’s not as pointy as the male or as round as the female.

They just keep on breeding back to back already got about 50 of them in a grow out tank and some of them are getting big and they just keep breeding in this tank. I thought they was gonna end up eating them which they did to the last few spawns & well it look like the some parents did a good job protecting them and they’re actually starting to grow out in my main tank and the rest of them are still laying eggs and some are now born. Smh NEED HELP??

They were both sold to me as male. Just seeking confirmation on them. These are Augustus and Caesar. I know for sure Augustus is male but not so sure on Caesar. The one on the bottom is Caesar in the picture that has both.

I’ve been looking for a few particular fish on my “holy grail list” for years now, without any luck. The ones I have found are either ridiculously expensive, or the breeder is located in Thailand. I stumbled on Gem Coast USA who not only have two of the fish I’ve been searching for, but also a huge selection of other freshwater fish.
In the past I’ve only ever ordered fish from eBay. But it’s difficult to find a seller on there with a wide array of inventory, because in addition to looking for these particular fish I’m also trying to stock two other of my new tanks. Since I don’t want to pay $30-60 per fish for shipping, I’d like to order everything from one seller to only pay for shipping once. Coast Gem ticks all of these boxes, EXCEPT for what I discovered last night. Upon doing some research, I found a Reddit post with NUMEROUS people complaining of DOAs, slow shipping times, and sickly fish. However, the only complaints/reviews I’ve been able to find were from 4-6 years ago. Apparently all of these people were advised from the seller that their issues were due to Covid. I can definitely cut them some slack because I know shipping anything was a nightmare in the height of Covid, which accounts for the slow shipping times causing more DOAs and the global lack of staff could equate to poor conditions of the fish.
I’m just looking for some honest reviews within the past 6 months or so. The few I have seen that were more recent were very positive, so it’s possible this was just Covid relating (at least I’m hoping so!)
Thanks in advance!

This is my 55 gallon Electric Blue Acara patio tank. There are 2 male and 2 female, 1 breeding couple, this is the 3rd time for these new parents. No survivors from first 2 time, they and myself seem to be doing better so far(third times the charm). They also live with 9 leopard or false julii and 1 bristlenose pleco and 1 bronze cory. So mom and pop

Time to relocate/rebuild my fish room. The fish I want:
A Tiger and Odessa barb tank with a rainbow shark. Possible add a school of Boseman rainbows.
Angels, Blue Rams and cories.
Mbuna.
For tanks, I want to build a ~96" x 12" x 16" river tank for my Barbs, plywood construction with 3 Ikea glass shelves for the front. This would be ~80 gallons.
A 75 gallon for the Mbuna.
A 55 gallon for the Angels.
But now I am having second thoughts, what if I use the 96" tank for the Mbuna? I have enough rocks for the entire tank. With careful layout of the rocks, I should be able to break line of sight in multiple areas. My goal is a condo for each Mbuna, they can dig under any rock.
On the other hand, watching a schools of Barbs/Rainbows swimming the length of the tank would also be cool. Any thoughts?

I think she is holding. Always near the substrate and not eating with no signs of being bullied. When should I put here in a quarentine tank? I noticed this about 2 or 4 days ago. Thanks

Took out two bigger stones on the left side of the tank to get a bigger open zone. You can check previous posts on my profile on how it looked before. Stocking are 2 Neolamprologus Brevis, 4 Julidochromis Transcriptus (one pair on the right, the other 2 are mostly left) and 12 Cyprichromis Leptosoma (9 female 3 male). What do you think about my tank and the rework?

My pair of EBAs spawned in May (on Mother’s Day)and 14 of the fry survived and were moved into a nursery tank. Now mom and dad are cleaning house to hopefully raise another batch of babies. Here’s video of the babies as of today -10 weeks old and mom and dad this morning cleaning up their new favorite spawning spot…I gave them a nice big flat rock this morning and they seem to like it!

Could they be a parasite or just be a result dog nibbling from my other cichlids?

After several months of having only male peacock cichlid, i got this one about a month ago. Not much experience with females but looks to me like she is holding maybe. Not eating and kinda staying by herself in the tank with no signs of bully at all towards her. Any opinion?

Hello! I have been keeping fish for about 10 years, but I have yet to own any cichlids. I have a 75 gallon that I’m in the process of building. (Attached photo) It will be moderately-heavily planted. I was planning on getting a few different juvenile angels, to eventually end up with just a pair of them in my tank, with either Congo tetras or potentially bosemanis. My partner is very into dwarf plecos and would like for me to get one for the 75. I was considering a snowball or a clown, but I am worried about compatibility issues. Does anyone keep any dwarf plecos with their angels?
