Before I take them to the shelter I mean. My partner and I found a friendly kitty that wasn't super skinny but could definitely use a little food while on a walk. We were near some apartments at the time, but the cat had no collar. We asked the restaurant and they said they see the kitty often and feed it scraps, but they've never seen it with a collar and don't know who's it is.

We're talking about catnapping then and taking them to the shelter on Saturday when we're off work, but I'm nervous about taking someone's cat and then getting shit for it if the kitty is microchipped. Is it best practice to just do it anyway? We've checked local Facebook groups and there have been posts about the kitty but no one has claimed the cat as theirs that we can see.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm a very non confidential person, but I hate to leave an animal who may need help. Especially since my partner really liked the kitty!

For context he (Ninja the tuxedo) is 10 and has had his brother (Chase, the brown one) with him his whole life and a few weeks ago Chase passed and now Ninja is frequently crying and I need to comfort him. He didn’t see the passing so I think he’s sad and confused. How do I comfort him with more than just pets?

The cat was in the foundation of the house underneath the floor in the house of someone we know. We caught the cat and took her to a vet. she isn’t chipped and we couldn’t find a matching cat on a lost pet site. The vet said she looks pretty young and she is calmest when nobody is around and panics when people are near. We thinks she’s feral.

Does anyone know a good place in Texas to take feral cats. We are gonna try to contact north Texas barn cats, but I’m wondering if there are others. we could also do a neuter and release program but I feel like a farm would be a better home.

I’ve never had cats/kittens before so this is a new experience. We decided to adopt two kittens from a rescue, they were kept in a room, and I don’t think they have very much experience, with a household or people. They are still skittish, won’t let us hold them willingly, but are warming up to us, and love to play.

Anyway, the rescue provided them with Royal Canin. It’s quite expensive. We thought we would change them to Firstmate, but only one local store carries this brand. I’m seeing lots of conflicting reviews on Applaws, and one other that looks like it has Pete the Cat on the front. I’ve been incorporating, small amounts of the Firstmate they purchased. I’d like to give them good food, but not something that is $77 for a 14lb bag. Please let me know your recommendations. Thank you.

Around late March or Early April, I've been getting close to this cat. I began feeding her every time I was able to see her. Her feeding routine began by passing by my house once or twice a week to currently being told no more food because she comes 3 times a day.

Around late May she gave birth to two kittens at a neighbor's which I don't have the chance to visit as they are always busy. Usu often comes to my house, eat, sometimes stay for a while and then leave. I wish she could live indoors with us, but my father doesn't like indoor pets, worse cats and mother shoos her out as well. (I let her indoors while family is not at home)

Anyways, I have kind of a "shared custody" of her with my neighbors as she nurses her kittens there and comes to my house for food.

I just wanted to share her story and hope that one day I'll be able to officially adopt a cat. I'll leave some Photos of her and another of the kittens she had.

hi all, as the title states I noticed today my cat has an ingrown thumb nail (sorry it's probably not called a thumb on cats). I called numerous vets and the earliest that he can be seen is tomorrow afternoon. he isn't limping or licking excessively, I noticed it when going to trim his nails. I'm looking for advice for the next 24ish hours- he hasn't been showing signs of pain but I can't imagine he's not experiencing it. thank you in advance for the help :( photo of my grumpy old man waking up from a nap for cat tax

This guy hates to be in a cage. He has broken out several times. But today I took a break at mc donalds and let him explore the car. And he crawled back into his cage after he was done and the complaining was done 😂

Guys im a 30 yr old single female. I have 3 cats currently.

I was awoken this morning at 4 AM by a mewing outside. Turned out to be a little baby, can’t be more than six weeks old. everyone’s already judging me because I wanna keep him.. so really how many cats is too many cats?

I've been feeding this one stray cat for two years. He usually gets fed with his friend who's a bit more skittish, but this guy in particular has been a regular beneficiary of my food for a while now. He climbs up the stairs to my apartment door and I leave food and water out for him every evening, and he's comfortable enough to stand a few inches from me and meow at me, and has even wandered slightly inside when I leave the door open (although only when I'm in a different room).

But I still have yet to pet him (he moves away if I try) and still gets out of my way when I'm walking (he hangs out at my apartment yard after eating). Mostly I try to respect his boundaries and don't get too close and walk slowly and all that.

But I want to get closer with him and actually be able to pet him and maybe bring him inside. I think I've built up as much trust with him as I possibly can but how do I take the next step. I'm a pretty tall dude so I always feel cats are more inclined to be scared of me, so how do I do this?

I am possibly moving to Barcelona for a master’s program this Fall. I have 3 cats and plan to bring the with me. One of my cats, Pancake, is a big boy - he’s about 20 lbs (~9 kg) and 18-20 (~45-51 cm) inches long. I have looked at every airline I could that has a direct flight from Chicago to Barcelona, but he’s too big to be in the cabin for all of them, which leaves me with cargo travel. I’m very scared.

What is the safest airline for cargo travel with cats?? Any personal experiences that could give me peace of mind? The vet thinks he will be just fine, but I’m terrified.

Right now, I am considering Lufthansa since it appears they have a cargo space that is climate and pressure controlled just for pets.

My girls get along fine most of the time but the white one definitely tries her best to annoy the heck out of the black one. Neither enemies nor besties. Just a (mostly) peaceful coexistence

Chaos goes absolutely CRAZY every time we open the dishwasher and insists on climbing inside. He plays with the spinning things even more than his actual toys!

I have two elderly cats (M16, F15) who are beginning to become more fragile and lose weight with their old age. The male cat has always been dramatic to any sort of change (litter, moving, food, food bowls etc.) and is prone to hunger strikes until he gets what he wants. In a few weeks, I will be moving with both of them after their last move 5 years ago, where the male lost half his body weight on a hunger strike due to the change in environment.

In an effort to make this move less stressful, I’ve been giving them both extra treats to gain a little bit of weight. All was going smoothly until the male decided that the food he’s been eating for most of his life is worthless and he’d rather just eat treats. As a result, he’s losing body weight fast and refuses to eat his normal food, only treats, and is literally crying as if he’s being starved while having TWO full food bowls.

What the fuck do I do about this drama queen cat? He’s breaking my heart (and patience) a little because I don’t want this move to kill him. The female cat is doing just fine.

Wife said. Guess who's the new stray that just got invited to the family...? All are rescues from somewhere.

Sorry for my giant ass forearm, also this is my new kitten (she's called shoe-shoe, but that's how you pronounce it, I forgot how it was spelt, one of my weird family members named it).

Two days ago, I woke up early with a bad feeling and found our kitty "Midnight" had passed in the night. She had only just turned 12 a month ago.

I just lost my wife last year. Losing Midnight has reopened so many wounds. She was the first pet my wife and I got together. I have a husky that I adopted before I met my wife. After my wife (girlfriend at the time) had moved in together, she wanted to add a cat to the mix, and my childhood cat "Silky" had just passed some months before that point.

My wife and I had just gotten engaged when we adopted Middy. We adopted her from a shelter, where she had been returned twice. I'll always remember how, upon walking into the room where she was kept, she immediately allowed me to pick her up, hold her, and smother her in kisses. She'd nestle her head up to my lips to keep it going. We brought my husky along to make sure she wouldn't have any problems being around our pup, and she didn't mind whatsoever. That sold it for us, and for Middy looking for her own family, the third time was the charm.

Over the next several years, my wife and I got a second dog and another cat. "Little Itty Bitty Middy Kitty" was the last pet I thought I'd lose first. Of the four pets we had, she was always the healthiest. Our vet always called her athletic, and Middy would display that title whenever the zoomies would hit.

I don't really know what happened. Last week, she was still her normal self. Within just a few days, she went from looking like she was a little sick, struggling to walk and not eating the following day, and then gone the next. It just happened so damn fast.

The house has grown even more quiet. I've lost another piece of my wife, and in many ways, it feels like I've lost her all over again. I've been crying into my whiskey ever since, hating myself for even hesitating to bring her into the vet. I just never expected things to turn so fast. It went from trying to figure out if I could afford to get her help to wondering if I should be thinking about euthanasia basically overnight. My head has been far off of my shoulders since I lost my wife, and I can't help but blame myself for my indecisiveness and hesitation.

I only hope that my wife is still out there somewhere, cuddling and kissing our baby kitty for the both of us.
