hi guys, I’m very new to using Reddit so I am not sure if this is apropriate to post here.

My husband and I love castlevania and since having our first baby, he has expressed wanting to get a custom portrait done in the same style as these Dracula/Belmont family portraits

are there any redditor/artists here who can do something like that?

through some searching I’ve discovered these are done by an artist named Katie Silva -@kloysius on IG. just want to give credit to the original artist!

Hi:) I picked up this game a couple of years ago and sadly had to stop after playing it for a while. Now that I'm trying to get back into it, I'm a little bit lost. I have searched and searched the map but I haven't found anywhere new to go. Where should I go next/what am I missing?

No se si la palabra "aprecio" sea la indicada para la pregunta, pero creo que se entiende a que me refiero.

Discussion Ranking all Igavania Death fights

Curious what everyone's rankings of Death are and why? Here's mine!

Haven't played: SOTN and COTM

  1. Harmony of Dissonance

This is my favourite characterization of Death through dialogue but it's also an underwhelming and easy boss fight. The second form is kinda cool even if extremely boring to fight.

  1. Portrait of Ruin

The gimmick in this fight honestly just makes it unfun for me but I respect that it exists and understand the appeal.

  1. Aria of Sorrow

Very run of the mill Death fight. Style points for the badass double scythe

Honorable Mention: Gremory

Gremory has a fun design and not being Death allows her to stand out and have some unique features. A lot of fun to learn, but I prefer her Curse of the Moon fight.

  1. Order of Ecclesia

Really good challenge and Shanoa is just a joy to control. Some unique attacks.

  1. Dawn of Sorrow

Really fun and diverse set of attacks. Extremely difficult with Alucard because no ground slide, but extremely fun with a good challenge as Soma (who he's designed for) and Yoko.

Question Is it possible to read the lore?

So, i been wanting to play castlevania games, but have no fixed time to do so... is it possible to read the lore from somewhere? Cuz the main reason why I want to play the games is to know lore better. I love the vibe, atmosphere, theme and all that, maybe there are some books? Or should I just watch playthroughs?

Question Question?

I’ve never really been a Castlevania guy but I just wanna hear from fans of the series what made or makes Symphony of the Night so beloved, I’ve never personally played the games so I don’t have any personal opinion to go off of but what made it so much better then all the others? Cheers

Nocturne Spoilers I had gripes with Nocturne, but not the Maria-Tera-Abbott family feud. Spoiler

Tera was so scary as a vampire. The only other vampire to put fear in me was Dracula in OG Netflixvania. Its like Tera is trying so hard to be human but can’t get it right.

She was so beautiful but in an uncanny/haunting way. You could tell there was something else wrong with her unless you looked at her ears. When she was telling Maria how much she loved her there was a warm  tone in her voice but the face didn’t match that expression.

Discussion Which Of The Night Creatures Do You Want To See Appear In The Games As An Enemy Or A Boss. Spoiler

I would personally pick the Firedrake, a Night Creature that appeared in "The River" . I unfortunately don't have a good picture of it, and even though I did find a video I screenshot that had a good view of it, I had unfortunately lost the photo.

Completed Castlevania: SotN once again yesterday. First time on XBLA on my Xbone. What an incredible journey as before. The only version that remains unbeaten is the Sega Saturn version.

Discussion Is Symphony of the Night still the benchmark Castlevania game?

Post image
499 Upvotes

I played Symphony of the Night for the first time, for my podcast, in 2026 (just last month). Spoiler: I loved it. It held up as a flawed masterpiece to me.

What’s odd about my history with the series is that I had played ZERO of the Metroidvania-styled Castlevanias and almost all of the others. I even had a PlayStation in 1997, but I was more enamored by the adventures of James Bond and Fox McCloud over on the N64 and spent the majority of my energy—and money—there.

So the question I have after playing SotN is this: do you think this game is still the benchmark Castlevania (or even the benchmark Metroidvania) to judge others by, or have other Castlevania games improved upon what this game did? If is IS the best to you, what makes it stand out the most? And if not, where did your personal favorite(s) improve upon the formula?

Dawn of Sorrow (2005) Trying defeat the next Boss #2: Balore (DoS) fist only? no equip (arms & souls)? no taking damage??? It's pretty hard

Flairs: post video for any reasons, questions, explain discussions and interesting challenges.

Hi, everyone! In my previous post, i tried and success defeated first boss (Flying Armor in this game) within ±2 min. without weapons/tactical souls/consumable, no pause menu, no taking damage, fist only. This time i trying defeat second boss, Balore it's so hard (maybe his muscle) to hitting him, cause stats Soma still low and without weapons, hitting this boss only 4 ATK/hit, and it's been so long within ±3 min. now in this post, i trying a few time until few hours, always fails. Once taking damage, a Heavy Punch 43 DMG and Laser Beam 86 DMG, without body armors/accessory/enchant souls. I keep trying and finnaly defeat Balore... although it's very difficult a punch for a punch. (sorry if my english is still poor and my grammar is bad)

Rondo of Blood (1993) Richter almost ruins his CD player

Funny little warning message that plays if you put the game's original PC Engine disc into a regular CD player and listen to Track 1.

Maria and Richter warn you not to play data tracks on regular CD players as they could blow out your speakers (on really old ones, data tracks sound like loud static).

Question New to the series, not sure if I'm doing it right.

edit: Switched to Harmony of Dissonance and turned rewind off. Having an amazing time! I'll go back to Aria after I beat this one, and make a new save with rewind turned off. Just needed to understand the design philosophy more is all :)

So, I finally caved and bought every castlevania game on steam. All three collections, both lords of shadow, and a preorder of Belmont's Curse, and decided to start with Aria of Sorrow.

So, the thing that's bugging me is how I've ended up playing. Due to the loss of progress when I die, the map not filling in, any rare souls I got since the last save being lost, I've fallen into the habit of rewinding every single time I die.

I want to play these games as intended since they're the reason some of my favourite games ever exist, and I'm not sure if I've done it wrong by starting with this one, or by using the rewind, or reloading saves. It's all very confusing to me.

I don't know how to get to where the first pic is. There's another place too at the top of the map which has a black doorway full of dark energy. I have three books which mention different spirits so I'm guessing those spirits open the dark doorway? I've also noticed after taking this pic that I've got an undiscovered area a little southwest of the centre so I'll go there right after making this post lol
