!!ITS IMPOSSIBLE RICK PRIME IS DEAD!! (Schrödinger's Canon Theory Fixes Everything) Spoiler

We all love the emotional closure C-137 got in Season 7, Episode 5 ("Unmortricken"). But from a purely in-universe perspective, the execution of Rick Prime’s death left behind massive holes that simply don't make sense.

Here is how Prime actually outsmarted everyone, fixing the lore gaps from the past and present without changing a single piece of current canon.

  1. The Cellular Tech Paradox & The Counterargument
We know Rick Prime's regeneration tech relies on constant, localized time-manipulation. A lot of people are going to point to the Season 9 premiere and say, "Evil Morty only got caught by the Time Police because C-137 snitched on him for freezing time".

But think about the actual technology gap here:
Evil Morty: Had to use a giant, clunky time box crammed into his pocket. It was highly visible, highly disruptive, and a massive tactical liability.
Rick Prime: Handled time-manipulation invisibly, at a cellular level, running continuously on his own DNA for decades.

Prime ran a passive, constant time-loop on his physical body without ever triggering a single Time Police alert. His time-tech is infinitely superior to anything C-137 or Evil Morty have ever built.

Pragmatic as he is, if Evil Morty truly had the real Prime in a brain-scanning chair, he would have stripped that god-tier cellular time-tech instantly. He didn't take it because the brain he scanned didn't actually contain the formulas.

  1. The "Automated Future-Loop" Honeypot
Years ago, long before anyone got close, Prime used his advanced knowledge of time travel to map out deep-future predictions, anticipate C-137 tracking him, and completely automate an organic decoy to handle the interaction.

This explains the entire sequence perfectly:
* **The Smugness**: Prime sat in that chair talking trash because he wasn't a dying man—he was a pre-recorded simulation running an automation script. He lacked fear because his actual consciousness wasn't in the room.
* **The Fight Scaling**: It took the two second-most dangerous people in the universe just to barely survive a 3v1 fight against a *fake meat-puppet* running on passive defense scripts. They stand zero chance against the real Prime.
* **The Fake Specs**: Prime fed them a fake honeypot schema for the Omega Device. His predictive model expected them to use it, which would trigger a pre-recorded hologram of Prime laughing at them, shattering C-137's sanity.

  1. They Never Find Out
Prime underestimated how chaotic they are. In the Season 9 premiere, Evil Morty trying to use the device blew up in his face, destroying it and landing him in Time Prison.

Because Prime operates from a place of absolute superiority, he isn't monitoring them in real-time. He hit "play" on his automation script years ago and completely ignored them. He doesn't even know his prank was bypassed due to their incompetence.

Why This is "Schrödinger's Canon".
This theory allows the writers to have their cake and eat it too:
1. **It preserves C-137’s emotional arc**: Rick's therapy, emptiness, and family growth remain 100% real because, as far as he knows, Prime is dead.
2. **It restores the ultimate villain**: It honors Rick Prime as the true Apex. He didn't lose a fistfight; he is out in the deep multiverse completely unbothered, while his unattended trash file almost wiped out the smartest beings alive.
3. **The Emergency Button**: The writers don't have to change anything right now. But ten seasons down the line, if they need a massive shock for the series finale, the real Rick Prime is sitting right there, untouched.
