Nacho Varga finale scene Spoiler

Just a thought, but wasn't it extremely dangerous for Nacho to brutally insult the cartel and admit the plot on Hector's life? Well, not anymore for Nacho, but for his father, who already openly made himself an enemy by insulting Hector as well and by knowing too much. Surely knowing how bloodthirsty the Salamanca's are, even Gus and Mike's protection wouldn't be enough if push came to shove. Because wasn't the whole point of Nacho taking the fall to ensure Gus's crew would repay by protecting his father from the cartel? This makes no sense to me, because unless Gus were to admit the secret collusion with Nacho, there is no logical reason to try to sway the cartel away from Nacho's Dad. So it seems to me like his actions potentially endangered the purpose of the whole plan, and I don't really get the plan in the first place.

I am so curious about them...

How did they meet Nacho? Are they all in a triad, or are they metamours? Do they really like him, or is it a Tiger King type of relationship? What do they do when he is gone? Do they ever leave his house? They are like human house cats and I am fascinated by them. It would totally be boring and useless to the plot, but I want to see more of them so bad.

ETA: A lot of you seem to think that drug addicted women have absolutely no personality or interests besides drugs. Obviously they are tweakers, but that doesn't mean its impossible to have anything else interesting in their lives. It's disappointing to see.

Chuck vs Jesse's brother Jake

Much like Chuck, Jesse's brother has all these achievements and prizes and constantly works hard. According to Howard's call to Jimmy in s4 ep1, Chuck graduated high school at the age of 14, and then at university lead the debate team 3x to victory.

Jesse's brother Jake tells Jesse that he doesn't feel like being the favorite son. He says that actually, Jesse is all the parents ever talk about.

In both cases one of the brothers is overachiever, genius, too mature for his age, and the other brother seems to get much more
attention from the parents. (how much love each of the brother gets is debatable).

Why this choice?
Can't two brothers just be ... kinda similar?

Hector! He was so angry and he had all the reasons to be.

He was angry that a Chilean, Chicken Man went behind his back, to introduce Don Eladio to his highly profitable Meth

He was angry that Eladio’s Cartel was built by Salamanca blood and Salamanca money(I love this scene) Bravo Vince and Peter .

He was angry that Fring’s drug earnings, far outperformed his family’s earnings

He was angry that his nephew Tuco was a meth-fueled, hothead that regularly gets himself in trouble. (Apple didn’t fall from the Salamanca tree)

He was angry because someone robbed one of his trucks transporting his “ice cream”

He was angry because someone robbed one of his trucks transporting his “ice cream

He was angry because he couldn’t convince anyone that his nephew Lalo was killed by Fring. Eladio should have listened, but chooses to mock him

He was angry because Walt changed the channel on his TV😂….and tried to poison Tuco

I really enjoyed Hector! 👏🏻

BCS & BB removed from netflix UK?

Hi everyone! I was halfway through my rewatch of Better Call Saul and I woke up this morning to find it, along with Breaking Bad, has disappeared from netflix (i’m in the UK). I was wondering if anybody has had this or if it’s just a glitch with my netflix specifically? El Camino is still available so i’m not quite sure what’s happening here. Any help/advice would be appreciated!

How is this true according to you? Spoiler

Someone here asked in what ways did BCS change BB?(My view)

Most of Walt’s career was due to Saul. And Mike had warned Saul ahead of time that Walt was bad news. But Saul only saw dollar signs.

He said in the last episode if it wasn’t for his help, Walt would have been dead or in jail within a month, and that rings true to me. That’s not something we really see in Breaking Bad, though we know Saul plays a big part in Walt’s success.

We also learn that Saul was a persona, an alias, a fairly one-dimensional creation of James McGill, who is a much more complicated and tragic character.

It will make all my future watches of Breaking Bad a little more sad, knowing Saul isn’t just a wacky, hilarious, smooth talking criminal lawyer, but the broken shell of a man who suffered extreme trauma not long before. Most of Walt’s career was due to Saul. out of all the amazing storylines and character development in this series, Nacho was by far the best out there right from the start. he was kinda like jesse as a sidekick throught the series up until his death, but way more depth and also Michael Mando's performance is outstanding. manipulated till the end by everyone, a great soldier overall.

loved the fact that he went out on his terms protecting is family

Why does Kim hate Howard so much

Recently reviewing and recognized first time that at beginning of season 6 Kim is the one who pushes Jimmy to cook Howard really badly.

Ok I get why she don't like Howard but she wants to destroy him. Why?

Funniest character interactions that never happened?

What the funniest pairing of characters that have never shared a scene (due to timeline/ death/ whether they're only in BCS or BB) that you can imagine?

The idea of a scene between Jesse and Howard is hilarious to me personally

Just finished my first watch, what a show!

Loved Breaking Bad to death and in a lot of ways BCS is even better. Jimmy and Chuck's relationship to me is one of the best in the whole of television. All of the main dynamics are so full of nuance and you really buy into these characters and the pathological nuances that tie them together.

Unfortunately I couldn't really care much for Nacho, to me at least he didn't exactly stand out (not to say that Micheal Mando didn't act his heart out). Really more of a compliment to the fantastic cast that they had.

I know Mike dies in BrB but I wish he also got more of a proper send-off in this one too, just love his character and seeing his downfall. I remember a long time ago that someone talked about how BCS is a very "white" show and I agree, especially when you see that Kim and Jimmy's "purgatory" is a stable if boring life in suburbia, the horror!

kim's fate is so horrible compared to any other character because of how real and relatable it is Spoiler

don't know about you, but i definitely did horrible things in the past, and yet, i never actually paid for that. and when this happens you end up stuck in this limbo where you're living a completely fine life and yet you dissociate the whole time cuz you can't let your past behind and so you can't even actually redeem. kim incapsulates this perfectly and she definitely is the character i felt worse for, even more than jesse, howard or skyler. now i'm gonna cry in the corner

Howard's fatal flaw is also hubris Spoiler

I just finished rewatching S6E7. Everyone can agree that Jimmy and Kimmy did Howard dirty, and he has one hell of a speech to give them--totally deserved!

However.

That moment when Lalo walks into the room, and Jimmy and Kim radiate fear and tell Howard to GTFO, Howard just continues to stand there and pontificate like he's in charge.

He doesn't have the sense to think, "These two must be terrified for a good reason. They know something I don't know, and I should take their advice."

Nah. Howard is the boss of these con artist mailroom proteges. He's stronger than them and he can take whatever's scaring them. He's the champion of the boxing ring, the owner of his law firm, and the scrappy architect of his own fate...

Until Lalo immediately ends him for being a bit player taking up too much space in Salamanca's story.

Howard has his reputation unfairly stolen by Jimmy and Kim's conspiracy.

But he loses his life by being the same tone-deaf egocentric child of privilege he's always been.

EDIT: For the record, since so many people seem to think this comes out of left field, the scriptwriters themselves wrote him as being "full of righteous piss and vinegar" in his first interaction with Lalo.

Is lalo trained?

Post image

Could it be possible that lalo was a veteran or something?

This dude literally soloed 8 assassins and could’ve killed gus if plot didn’t decide he already died like 18 years ago

I think I read somewhere he was trained by the cartel or something? Instead of being enlisted in the army

He definitely has a skill set of a special ops

Why did Kim want to screw over Kevin?

I’m on my third rewatch and I don’t understand why Kim started to despise Mesa Verde since it was her bread and butter. I know when she was solo she was overburdened with work but once she joined Rich’s firm she was really successful. And then she starts making fun of Kevin and works against him with Mr Acker. Does she really care that guy gets to keep his house? She obviously changed her mind before the copyright infringement thing so she didn’t care that much about the old guy. Is jimmy just that much of an influence on her?
Also Kevin was squeaky clean according to the PI so even more reason not to hurt him :(

Is Kim Wexler Redeemable By Real World Standards? Spoiler

This isn’t about whether you like or dislike her as a character. Kim is probably one of my favorite characters of all time but what she did to Howard was despicable, and I love characters that are way worse than Kim Wexler morally. The reason I’m asking is that even though Kim became an awful person in season 6, she’s also the only one that could be considered redeemable by real life standards of the Walt, Jesse, Mike, Jimmy, Kim group. Kim basically is morally equivalent to someone who drives blackout drunk and kills a person, yet is broken by the guilt of it for the rest of their life. They did something truly unforgivable that can never be taken back, yet changed their behavior and act like a good person going forward. When we see the rehab counselor for Jesse in Breaking Bad, can someone who truly stopped harming others, changed, and behaves like a good person ever be considered a decent person after drunk ricing and killing his own kid, a child?

When you break it down, the way Kim and Jimmy behaved towards Howard was a monstrous thing to do. They enacted an elaborate scheme against a wealthy lawyer to scam him into suffering the biggest professional humiliation of his career, seem like an unstable drug addict to his clients and peers in the legal community. They drug him, stalk him, and stole his car for an hour to do this. This is a truly decent person who has done absolutely nothing to deserve this, they have understandable resentments and a complex history they use to justify this but it’s not remotely justified, and they don’t do it for this reason, it’s just the excuse. They get money they plan to use to start a pro bono practice but that’s just the excuse, and Kim turns down a golden opportunity to help people because she wants the scam to happen that day so bad.

No Kim and Jimmy did this because they get off on conning people, and are afraid their relationship is built on conning and think if they don’t escalate pulling a scam to this degree the relationship will fall apart. They drugged, stalked, temporarily stole the car of an innocent man to make that wealthy lawyer seem like an unstable drug addict to his clients and peers. It woukd heavily damage his reputation in the legal community, possibly ruin it, and cause permanent damage, even if he’d probably be able to successfully repair the damage in time and mostly restore his rep to what it was eventually. But they did this for the thrill, while wrapped up in cartel business. And that (albeit very indirectly), got said innocent man killed, and a drug kingpin used that to frame his death as a drug addicted suicide with no body, with Jimmy and Kim being killed if they spoke out. Kim then gaslit the grieving wife at his funeral who didn’t believe the story into thinking the reason she didn’t notice his nonexistent drug addiction was because she was distant and estranged from him.

It’s clear at that point in time, Kim was a horrible person, and her and Jimmy’s actions lead to something unforgivable that can never, ever be made right. But after that, Kim punished her self in any way she could without getting murdered by Gus, gave up everything, completely changed her life, was utterly broken by the guilt, and once it was confirmed Mike was dead (and Gene calling out her hypocrisy) she confessed to Cheryl and accepted whatever the consequences were, whether it be (unlikely) jail, or likely massive civil suit. Kim would have come forward immediately and accepted jail (although it probably wouldn’t be a very long sentence), if not for Mike making it be clear they’d be killed if they came forward (confirmed by the showrunners). And Kim puts herself in purgatory to punish herself, but she’s not helping people either, and after that she goes to a pro bono to make her new focus and dedication in life be helping people for little reward.

I’m honestly curious on whether Kim would be considered redeemable (as in the overall be considered a decent person despite undeniably being an awful person in the past, not the it’s never too late to change way) by real world standards. Someone like Jimmy I don’t think is redeemable in that way because he caused too much harm as Breaking Bad era Saul and Gene, even though I would still respect his attempt to atone and treat him with humanity. Jesse clearly isn’t a bad guy inherently and was just a good kid who fell in with the wrong crowd at a young age, got addicted, and then got in way too deep due t a combination of manipulation and trauma and suffered somehow probably more than he deserved, but he did so much harm I don’t think he’d be considered redeemable by real world standards either. Obviously Mike and Walt aren’t, although they should still be encouraged to change their behavior and stop harming people, and I’m a believer in that prisons should not be based on making people suffer.

But in real life if someone did what Kim did, and then changed their behavior like Kim did, would you consider then automatically bad person incapable of redemption, or a decent person overall who used to be an awful person, or a bad person because she is simply irredenable for what she’s done. I honestly don’t know how I’d react to this myself, nor in the case of say Jesse’s NA sponser in Breaking Bad. I like to be optimistic and lens towards the positive side for redemption but boy that’s honestly a tough one for me, even if I slightly lean towards the redemption side. I will say I think I’d be sympathetic to Kim by real world standards. a tragic backstory doesn’t automatically make me sympathetic towards people who do unforgivable things, but it would in Kim’s case.

Growing up incredibly poor, absent father, with an alcoholic mentally abusive scammer Mom who only showed her love when she acted out and did something bad. Crawling out of that and becoming a high powered attorney and behaving as a good person who genuinely deeply cares about the underprivileged, but then meets someone who brings out her inner repressed childhood demons,. starts a mutually toxic relationship, and realizes the system is rigged for the wealthy and against the underprivileged and her initial good intentions get corrupte, followed by the fallout of everything and her sheer remorse. I’d want her to serve a couple years in jail but wouldn't blame her for that specifically because she’d be killed if she came forward earlier. I’d also have a deep sense of genuine disgust for what she‘s done however and consider what she did unforgivable. But can someone do something unforgivable that causes irrepersble harm as causing the death of an innocent and complete destruction of his reputation, but be considered a forgivable human being and decent person overall despite being awful in the past? I’m honestly curious what people think about that, I slightly lean yes she can eventually be considered a decent person by real world standards but a big part of me says she’ll always be a bad person.

just finished the show! Spoiler

WOW so who kept me away from this for so long? i watched bb and bcs in that order and managed to avoid every possible spoiler ever, so here's my thoughts!

  1. nacho, just for you i will be buying jello and thinking of you night after night don't you worry. i'm mourning him forever.

  2. kim and jimmy are such a well written (toxic) relationship. i love how we see their love without ever hearing the words 'i love you' except one time. i love-hate how we ALSO see it in how they destroy their lives having fun doing whatever with one another. also kim MAY be my favorite woman character perhaps EVER. i'm trying hard to think of someone I could possibly like more, but she has everything. she has her slip-ups and she has moments when she does the wrong thing and moments where she reflects. plus peak acting and that only makes it better.

  3. I think walt whitman aka willy wonka as a character is ruined for me for good. in bb i'm ashamed to admit that i was totally fooled by his manipulation, i completely bought the 'i'm doing this for the family' lie right up until the final episode, but i realized it's because you have to live with him in his quieter moments. but from everyone else's perspective? i realized in almost every conversation he's been a rude, conniving, asswad bratty bitchass fuck. when i watch bb again i think i'll hate him from s1e1, which is crazy considering i nearly cried for him in that same episode the first time i watched it.

  4. the ending was poignant but what was earned and necessary. jimmy and kim standing on two completely different sides of my screen. but i'm so glad, that after running, hiding, burying everything, jimmy returned to who he is. that's the main arc of the story and i love that it all boiled down to this.

  5. loved the two bodies under the lab reveal but howard buried with his murderer is just so difficult for me you don't understand.

  6. this show, paired with bb, made me realize even the worst people have humanity, or maybe some moments resembling it. like walt really loving holly. but what differentiates them from the others is they choose not to act on the good instinct, and deflect to the one that benefits only them instead. and i guess that just makes me think of people differently.

  7. i thought lawyer shows were boring. they're not, if they're better call saul.

final ramble, wish we saw more tuco. betsy kettleman inspires me. acting is off the charts and i'm in love with rhea seehorn and michael mando.

I think that if jimmy could time travel he would go back to that conversation with chuck in the flashback they showed in the finale. what do u think?

tldr: i like this show

Where do you think the show peaked and when would give up showing someone BCS?

Odd title I know. I showed my Mrs Breaking Bad years ago. She loved it, i could never get her on to BCS though.

So recently she wanted to watch BB again, we got through the entire thing in about week and a half, she loved it even more so I said we really should try BCS its great.

I am firmly in the BB is a 9/10 show, BCS is a 9.5 camp

We're just about to finish season 2 and she is not gripped in the slightest, like she enjoys it but if we stopped watching it she wouldn't feel the need to go back and watch it.

I know season 3 has some absolute bangers but its been 2 seasons, is there still hope or is the dream of her loving BCS as much as me dead?
