What to do for a week at the end of September?

I will be staying overlook horseshoe bay for a week with my 72 (young for her age), and 3 mid 30 girlfriends. We’re looking for unique events and cool dining experiences. My mom is a local, I’ve been 7 times, and another friend has been a couple of times, however two are brand new and we want to make sure like they got a true experience of what the island has to offer. We’re thinking the caves, St. George’s, coopers island nature reserve, elbow beach and an evening in Hamilton. What am I missing?

Local must try food + beaches

Hi! We’re traveling to Bermuda for two days. We’re looking for the best, non- tourist and local must haves for food/drinks. We want to explore the island for what the locals like best. Good quality food but doesn’t need to be over priced or fancy. Anything that’s unique to the island (not to the states) that’s worth a try would be great. Also would love recommendations on what food to try at these places.

Also looking for non-touristy beach recommendations (hidden gems that are beautiful but not over saturated with people.)

Anywhere on the island works for us.

Thanks so much!!

Random trip to Bermuda and need some tips!

I've heard and read a good few things on the island.

I'll be staying in St. Georges area and was wondering what is the best things to do. I read the buses are pretty good and taxis are expensive. I looked into renting a car which is also pricey.

I want to go to a few good places to eat and maybe party (is there a night life?) If there is a night life how hard is it to get back late. Any good food recommendations? I will be there for 6 days so trying to enjoy and explore!

how to spend a beach day

We will be arriving in August on a NCL ship for part of 1 day and part of the next. We are planning to rent our own pontoon boat for the 2nd day. For the first day, how should we spend it? If beach and snorkel (even off the beaten path) is the priority how would you do this without paying excursion prices. What else should we consider?

Rant on Speciality Cinema

We are witnessing The Odyssey smash records, it has broken online booking sites in multiple countries, it is booked out for several weeks in some of the few countries that have Imax screens capable to showing it in full.

"Christopher Nolan’s epic "The Odyssey" shattered box office expectations on its opening weekend, grossing $124.5 million domestically and $264.1 million globally. It marks the biggest worldwide opening weekend of Nolan's career"

Yet in Bermuda it's opening week it has been delayed to run Moana, Supergirl and Minions (I get that it is school holidays, but The Odyssey in it's opening weekend almost made as much as all 3 combined in total, not just their opening weekends but box office so far).

The Lord of the rings 25th anniversary re-release in January;
"Massive Presales: The trilogy secured $5 million in domestic presales before the first screening even began, out-grossing multiple new 2026 releases.
Huge Global Opening: It brought in a strong $10.5 million global box office opening weekend, with $9 million coming from domestic theaters and $1.5 million from international markets"

I asked them around October if they would look at doing screenings for the Lord of the Rings, I was told they will "think about it"

Is it tough to land a job there with this background?

Written Part of Drivers Test

Hey All! Are there any mock exams for the learners permit? In the states we have some but I was wondering if that’s offered here. I did see the 10 sample questions at the end of the book, so more like that would be great.

If you could start ANY business in Bermuda, what gap would you fill?

Born 'n raised / long time residents especially - I'm curious what you think this island is genuinely missing.

Not talking about "lower cost of living" or "cheaper groceries" (we all know). I mean specific businesses, services, or products you'd actually pay for if someone launched them tomorrow.

A few to get the wheels turning:

  • Something you have to order from overseas that should exist here
  • A service you'd use weekly if it existed
  • Something that works great in other small markets but nobody's brought to Bermuda
  • Recreation/entertainment
  • Health/wellness services

Genuinely curious what people say.

My cruise ship is porting in Bermuda for a night and looking for some advice.

We will be there for two days. One night and second day we return to our ship around the afternoon. The cruise excursions are obviously overpriced and was just wondering if I could get some tips and advice as we’ve decided to use the public transit instead and explore the island. We for sure want to check out the crystal caves! Our ship is docking at the royal naval dockyard. Thanks!

Parent views on Chatmore British International School

Hi there, does anyone have any experience with Chatmore, pros and cons, especially considering that it's a small school and doesn't seem to have a lot of facilities. Our child is 5. Any feedback is appreciated. Most of the private schools have waitlists, so we are considering Chatmore.

Bermuda History Bermuda Vacation 1970 ~ Sightseeing by Car ~ Harbor Road, Southampton Shore, Hamilton to Causeway

A moving time capsule

Shot from the car, we travel along Harbor Road, on to Middle Road with a stop to look at some cows in front of a private home on South Shore Road passing multiple beaches and bays.

Returning on Harbor Road, our next stop is Fort Hamilton with a panorama of the back of town (good look at the Sherwood Hotel), Hamilton looking West (old police station), and the harbor the docks are unloading containers, and a cruise ship docked on Front Street.

We continue looking East to Red Hole and the Royal Hamilton Armature Dingy Club with a single pier which is much enlarged today. Waterville at the Foot of the Lane, and finely over Cavendish Heights where today you would see the ugly Hospital building in the distance (opened in 2013).

Next stop is Pomander Road, with the old bus garage in the distance, where someone rows out to their moored boat.

In Hamilton, we enjoy the view from Albouy’s Point and, smash cut, we drive into Hamilton and along Front Street.

Flatts inlet is next with a boat on the slip and the Coral Island Hotel is still in operation.

Over the causeway, and we end our tour at Ferry Reach looking at the Astor Estate.

And yes... we noticed the spelling mistake in the opening credits too! Just not soon enough...

Move to Bermuda

23M, single, moving to Bermuda for work. My compensation is around US$150k total plus a US$4k/month housing allowance. Is this considered a good compensation package for Bermuda? What would realistic annual savings look like for someone with a normal lifestyle?

Dating scene

I’m in my early 30s, straight, male. I have a job offer to relocate to Bermuda as an actuary. I’m wondering what the dating scene is like there for someone like me? Do single men my age from UK tend to just stay there for 1-2 years?

Suggestions for Birthday Dinner on a Monday in late July

Hi!

Looking for suggestions for my birthday dinner on a Monday, when it seems like all the recommended places I've been given are closed!

We're staying at The Loren and will probably spend the day outside lounging at the hotel and having lunch at Pink Beach Club, so somewhere indoors with A/C afterward would be ideal.

I love the idea of cocktails first and then dinner — either two different places or one spot with great cocktails to enjoy with dinner.

I'm turning 48 but tend to enjoy places that are popular with both younger crowds and people my age. Open to either a local favorite with great food and a fun vibe or somewhere a bit more upscale.

Leaning slightly toward somewhere in town that's fun and good for birthdays, since we'll have other nights to check out some of the nicer upscale restaurants that are open later in the week.

Any recommendations?

I remember there was a Purina Feed Store on Front Street when I used to live there as a child. Where on Front Street was this located and what is there now?

Just curious.

Rent a Pontoon boat or do a snorkel excursion?

We’re visiting in a few weeks, with a group of 9 and we’re trying to decide if we should do a snorkel excursion or rent a pontoon boat. As it relates to snorkeling, is it descent enough in the shallows or is it worth it to go further out? Part of our group is experienced snorkelers and part is not.
TIA!
