Other Phone Scam Warning

Beware of a phone scam.
I answered my phone today and after saying hello the first thing the caller said was “Can you hear me?”
Remembering the scam where they want to get you to say “Yes.” I answered “I can hear you.” and then the person just hung up.

From what I remembered they get you to say “yes” then use that recording as though you’ve agreed to their “deal”

Other Shout outs to first responders today

Upvotes

Within 20 minutes, I saw 2 accidents (one on bayfield and one on Cundles) and was passed by another police cruiser and ambulance heading the opposite direction. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many emergency service vehicles in such a short span of time responding to different calls.

Question Gardener

Hey, just wondering if anyone uses a gardener in Barrie? I don’t have a huge property/gardens. Just a couple small ones. Not sure what the cost is like to have someone maintain them for me.

Looking For Looking for a licensed gas fitter in Barrie area

My natural gas fireplace (builder-installed in the early 2000s) was recently red-tagged by Enbridge because they were unable to locate an accessible appliance shutoff valve. The fireplace itself works fine, but I need a licensed gas fitter to install the required shutoff valve (if missing), perform a leak test, and provide documentation so I can have the red tag cleared.

Looking for recommendations from anyone who's had good experiences with a local company. Thanks!

Question What to do with old PS2?

Upvotes

I have an old Playstation 2 that still turns on and runs the discs just fine.

The only problem is that none of the controller ports seem to work. I tested all of them out with controllers that work no problem on my other PS2. So as far as I can tell the PS2 is pretty much useless unless anybody else knows anything differently. Maybe a wireless controller would work? Not sure if there are any for the PS2?

Anyways, I'm wondering of the best place to dispose of it. Is there a place to dispose of old electronics in Barrie? Would it be of any use to a retro game store in town?

Any help is appreciated

Rant Got honked at yesterday

Yesterday I was going south on Sunnidale and I was stopped at a red light at Wellington.

I did not have my indicator on.

I got honked at by what I can guess is someone thinking I was turning right?

They proceeded to use the left turn lane and literally went around me. I almost hit the guy who tried to follow.

Please don't assume. I use my indicator when warrented and I don't run red lights.
