The water bottle pocket in my backpack is both too short and too loose so my water bottle always falls out. It’s not just this water bottle, it’s pretty much any standard size water bottle.

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to make it so that my water bottle doesn’t fall out? Please, don’t say get another water bottle- the only ones that don’t fall out are super short and don’t hold enough water.

I’ve got two kids and a wife and always end up carrying so much stuff. I’ve gone through a few packs that ended up being too small or not enough organization. My wants are: no waist belt, hydration bladder compatible, at least one good sized side bottle pocket, probably 25 to 35L, not just one cavernous storage area (I need organization but don’t want multiple laptop and document sleeves), preferably a good sized soft compartment to fit sunglasses or camera. Right now I’m leaning towards the Osprey Nebula, it seems to check off all those boxes but I think what’s throwing me off is it looks too much like a school bag instead of a hiking bag. We travel often and always like to go hiking while we’re there so I want something that can transition from travel/commuting to hiking well.

I'm looking at using the North Face Base Camp Duffel Extra Small (XS) as my personal item on Ryanair.

I know it's slightly over Ryanair's stated personal item dimensions (40 × 20 × 25 cm), so I'm aware it doesn't technically comply on paper. That said, since it's a soft duffel, I'm wondering if anyone has actually flown with it and whether it compresses enough to fit in the sizer when it's not packed completely full.

Has anyone here used this exact bag as a Ryanair personal item? Did you have any issues at the gate, or was it accepted without any questions?

Looking at two bags, specifically the Travel Pack 4 35L and City Pack Pro 2 20L.

I've never had a bag with X-PAC before. The price difference is negligible enough that I was thinking about doing both in X-PAC.

Are there any downsides to the X-PAC vs the standard versions of the aforementioned bags?

I’m going across the country to the east coast for college and I’ll be staying with some family in the area during most of my breaks, meaning I wont have any of my stuff there and I’ll have to bring everything I need for up to 2ish weeks of bitter cold with me on my back.

The trip from my school to my family’s place is about 4.5 hours by bus with a transfer, half an hour of subway, and about 30-40 minutes of walking (cumulatively not all at once).

Everyone is telling me that hand luggage is a bad idea and that what I really need is to travel light and bring a backpack. I am high maintenance and terrible at traveling light especially in cold weather, but willing to give a big ass backpack a shot.

I’m also not very strong and not very heavy so i’m looking for a bag that’s as light as possible.

any suggestions for how to handle this kind of trip with one bag are welcome! As well as recommendations for specific backpacks or ballpark estimates of how big of a bag you think I need.

I honestly love the aesthetics and sleek look of the Able Carry Max EDC more than the CTB26. However, the CTB26 seems like it handles a dual-laptop carry much better out of the box.

randomly came across this brand called FORMOD. I’ve literally never seen anyone talk about them in the US, and I’ve tried googling them but barely anything comes up. But their bags have a completely separate insulated compartment built into the bottom??

• Looking for an EDC backpack, but I am NOT interested in a backpack that doubles as a suitcase or has straps for clothing, etc.

So I am planning on getting a new messenger. I want it to be fairly big and have a good amount pockets for organization. I comute between different cities bi-weekly by train.

The bag hast to fit a 15,6 inch gaming laptop, a tablet, a couple books, water bottle, lunch, am umbrella, and a bunch of small objects.

I am thinking on the timbuk2 classic large vs Osprey Merton 18. I live in Germany, where the prices are about 160-180 Euros for the timbuk2 and 120-150 for the Osprey.

As the title suggests, im stuck between the outdoor 25l backpack and the Charlie 25L. Here are some of my requirements: needs to be weatherproof (have travel plans with snow and rain), hiking, not that big so that i can carry it as a edc backpack when traveling, lots of attachments points for external carry. I love PD, i have a ton of their products, but multiple AI have recommended the charlie 25 and i think i like it. But i dont see a lot of reviews about it. It is bigger and is more waterproof than the PD. But can anyone give me some feedback? Currently i fan buy both at basically the same price, around 160
