Has anyone worked for Lennox? Im fixing to start as a hvac install commercial apprentice and I want to know if they teach well. Advice is much appreciated about tips installing rtus!

I have a Carrier Infinity heat pump system.

I received a code 84 High Pressure lockout signal. I noticed the condenser cooling fan was not running. Technician looked at it and said probably the fan motor was bad. He suggested getting a whole new unit. (This one is 10 years old). He also said he could replace the fan motor and order a new defrost board as a backup.

I put a heavy duty fan blowing on the side of the outdoor condenser assembly. A few minutes later the heat pump was running and the condenser cooling fan was also running! Any thoughts?

I have a Rheem water heater that's only 3 years old. A few months ago it started to send me this message:
"An issue has been detected with your Heat Pump Water Heater Gen 5 named Heat Pump Water Heater located in Home: T005 Heating source defaults to elements due to low airflow. If issue persists, please contact Rheem Tech Support 1-800-995-0982 or your local plumbing professional. Reference Alarm Code T005."

There's not much stuff next to it so it should have enough space. The filter looks clean, and I cleaned it anyway just to make sure. Still I receive such message every day. Any advice what I can do about this, please?

I’m trying to replace a dead motor in my heat recovery ventilation unit. I did take out one fan, but I’m having a tough time taking the other fan out. I can’t access that 3mm as it’s seated deep inside. Is there a way of taking this out that I’m missing? Also, are there any places that sell the whole assembly so I can replace the whole motor and the fans? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have been given a quote of $500 to clean the air handler in the crawlspace under my 1350 sq. ft. house in South Carolina. New unit was installed in 2020. Is this price reasonable? And how often should it be cleaned? Thanks!

From what everyone is saying, I should change the air filter monthly and have a go at cleaning my outer unit first (myself, thanks to YouTube) before shelling out $500 for cleaning the air handler. Have I got that right?

A family member is upsizing their AC and has offered this unit to me.

My current AC unit is a Amana. Probably 20+ years old. Likely installed the same time as my furnace in 2001. All the labels and stickers are weathered and unreadable.

My house is a cape cod (1.5storey) 1100sqft.

Any problems with this air con? Should I have it installed.

I am looking for a thru wall ac unit that fits what seems like a non standard size sleeve. The sleeve is 24” wide x 14 3/8 tall. The old unit was already removed so I don’t know what was there before. It seems like they are all designed to fit a 26” wide sleeve.

I’m considering installing a new central AC system for my home in Saratoga County and recently received a quote from a firm I was considering for around $8,500. Before moving forward, I’d like to know if that sounds reasonable for the area.

For anyone who has replaced or installed central air recently, how much did your project cost? I’m very curious how much factors like size, efficiency rating, brand, ductwork, permits, and installation complexity affected the final price.

Are there any questions I should ask the HVAC contractor before signing the agreement? I’d appreciate any advice or experiences you can share. 

Is this overkill? We've just gone through the worst of the heat we get around here, max temps around 90° and feel like 110°F we've been renovating our newly purchased house and of course the ac that passed inspections died 2 days after closing. We've been using an older window AC my dad had lying around and to be honest it's been doing a fair job of keeping the main part of the house comfortable as long as we keep it running. The house is heavily shaded, but it is an older 1960s house. The windows are double hung.

I feel like 2.5 tons is overkill considering that's what my MiL just had put in her 2,200 sqft house that was built in 1970. On top of that she just paid $9k for the new AC and furnace to purchase and install but I'm being quoted $7k just for the ac and install. We both have crawl spaces the only difference is hers is accessed through the house and ours is accessed outside.

So I went up into the attic in the house we’ve lived for a few months and noticed this. I figured it was installed incorrectly so I wanted to confirm here. The float detector is on the outside of the drip pan? 🤔 I went ahead and corrected it but let me know if I’m in the wrong.

I’m a DIY guy. And I’m looking for a good HVAC gaugenset that won’t break the bank. I’m drawn to the Fieldpiece SMAN but I don’t do this for a living. I like digital gauges but I could get by with analogue.

I’m an engineer and used to reverse engineer code to cheat on games, built mods for the PlayStation, and cloned cell phones. I’m pretty confident that I can learn enough to do what I need with the AC.

It’s hot as fuck in Texas right now and my upstairs AC isn’t keeping up. The temperature differential between the return and vent is only 5 degrees. I’m waiting for it to cool off a little before going into the attic and check things out but the condenser isn’t feeezing up. It had a filter from weeks ago and the unit is only a couple of years old.

I have a Tempstar 3 and 1/2 ton AC unit that was installed in 2018 since then I've had to replace the blower motor inside three times, I just had to have it replaced the other day and I noticed a 255 warranty fee even though the motor was still under warranty, my AC company that installed it told me that warranty fee was enacted during the covid days when you couldn't do a person to person swap out for parts and that they never got rid of it is this true or is he just charging me for his profit?

Please Don’t make too much fun for what is probably a dumb question. I have a fairly large home with 2 air conditioning units. I live in Florida. The two handlers are up in the attic. I change the filters which are in the ceiling (not on the handler itself). I have 3 filters on the inside of the house that I change every few months. But I have another one in the ceiling on the outside of the house by my front door. What is the purpose of this one? I’ve had houses before and I’ve never had any vent or filter on the outside of the house. What is its purpose and if I were to not change this one (because it is up super high and tough to get to) what would happen?

We need to replace our hvac system and as part of the job bid I asked the contractors if they could add a couple events in our basement. Half of our basement is below ground. All the half walks out to the backyard. During the summer month it gets a little stuffy and in the winter it's very cold since there's no heat down there.

Couple bids came in and said that they were not interested and they advised me not to. Another two bid were able to come back with a number but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I am upgrading from a 3-ton unit to a 3.5 ton unit. And yes the ductwork is able to handle it. I'm just not sure if it would make things worse upstairs
