We planted this row of privacy arborvitae 3 years ago and they’ve grown well. We live in KS and it’s been hot the past two weeks but not any hotter than a normal KS July. This tree was nice deep green and within a week uniformly lightened to pale green and then quickly all brown. The inner branches are still slightly green but the outside is crispy brown. There are no bag worms, no spider mites. Then we noticed each tree in the row has these gashes around the base of the trunk. We have landscapers mow/weed weekly. Could the damaged trunks be from the weed eater and could that damage have caused the one tree to stress and die?

Layman here. This stump looks to me like the bark grew up over the cut after the tree was cut (or over the wound after the tree fell). Is that possible? Wouldn't the tree just die after being cut/falling?

Moved into our new house and found this small deck that the tree is growing into. Would there be any reason that this is good? Does it keep the tree from growing any bigger? Should i just remove it all or trim the deck back? Maybe I put down something else like mulch or turf? The ground is only a couple inches down. House and pool are from the 70s.

Bought a house 6 years ago with some woods behind. Previous owner had a zip line between two trees that we never used or really thought about. Noticed the cable around the trees digging in to the bark, I tried removing it but the bark has grown over the cable in spots.

Would I be doing more harm by removing some of the bark to get the cable out? Should I just leave it be? The tree appears to still be healthy

The cherry tree took some damage during transport. I've given it plenty of water, and now it's eight weeks later. We had a drought, and it held up like a champ but did not grow as well as its siblings. Today I cut away some damaged wood, and this is how it looks now. I don't really know what to do. I hope it will be fine.

So I live on 60 acres. Not all wooded some fields. I have been harvesting dead woods for fire wood. I have probably cut 3 ish cords a year for the last like 12 years. I feel like the forest is getting a little thin. It was stripped about 50 years ago so it’s a new growth. When and where should I start replanting

On trees that don't do a great job at compartmentalizing decay(silver maple comes to mind), is it best practice to leave a slightly longer 'stub' on your finish cut? Would this additional wood help the tree seal off that wound and prevent decay form moving closer to the trunk?

Hello! This magnolia tree is about 3 years old. I want it to be a single trunk tree but am unsure of how to achieve that. This tree was planted with my grandmothers ashes so I really don’t want to hurt it in anyway. Any help pruning or otherwise would be appreciated!!

I noticed this pine tree at my rental property was looking unhealthy on one side. My first thought was that it's due to lack of water, since the grass is also fully dead. Planning to go over and have the tenants water more. Does this look more serious?

Hello, we had a major storm pass by that tore and killed some branches. I had to remove them from the tree and was wondering if I made the cut to long and if I should cut it closer to base of the branch?

I have a creek fed pond that I am slowly restoring. The creek that feeds it has been diverted through some pipe that has been buried. I am looking to replace it and elevate it since it is coming from a higher slope point and then having it waterfall or waterwheel into the pond. Is there a way to strap 4 inch pvc dws pipe to a tree that doesn't harm the tree. I'm thinking something along the lines of this, but it probably doesn't need to be as robust and heavy duty. This is the third year I've had this tree and am starting to get a bit concerned, mainly due to the condition of the leaves. In one of the attached pictures you can see he is growing up and out but it just doesn't appear happy if that makes sense. Any advice is appreciated.

I’m curious maybe the winters in East Tennessee are more stable compared to middle and west regions in Tennessee? Middle and West Tennessee might have more unpredictability in fluctuating temperatures during winter that can affect the survivability.

My chokecherry tree looks to have peach borer damage. I found several empty pupas at the base, and the leaves suddenly became curled and crispy in the last couple of weeks. I’ve sprayed the base with permethrin, but I’m worried it is a lost cause. Any advice?
