Why is Alexa Plus dumber than regular Alexa. What a waste of time.

It used to be that setting the language in the Alexa app to something like Australian English would force it to use the original user interface instead of the new, much slower, sliding panes Alexa+ hot garbage. The app now seems to only support this new UI. I’ve tried Canadian, British, and Australian English, but I’m still stuck with the new crap.

Has anyone found a way to revert back to the original experience in the latest version of the Alexa app? Or are we just stuck with this new bullshit?

My Echo Hub prompted me if I wanted to change my screen layout to the one in the stock picture from Amazon. Have no clue how I did it. Just hit accept. Is there any way to have the same look on my echo show 11? If so, how? Thanks

Alexa keeps showing unknow devices for alarms and toutines aren't working either Is it an alexa issue?

I see the yellow light flashing and ask Alexa if I have a notification?

"You haven't played Amazon Music in a while. Would you like me to play some now?"

How do I stop this enshittification? This is about the 17th time I've been asked the same thing..

One of most stupidest things heard from my 2012 Echo.

Edit: We still find having 'other' notifications (e.g. deliveries) valuable. We don't subscribe to Alexa+, and you'll have to pull my 2012 Echo from my dead cold hands.

I had a routine where Alexa played a playlist. I tried to change which playlist was played in the routine and Alexa couldn’t find it.

I’ve tried,
- renaming the playlist a bunch of times
- making a new playlist
- going back to the original playlist that Alexa was using in the routine except now it can’t find that either

I can see my playlists in the music and more section and play them through there. But Alexa just can’t seem to find any of my personal playlists via routines or voice commands, either says she can’t find it, or plays something random.

I’ve tried,
- rewording the prompt in various ways
- linking and unlinking my spotify
- ensuring spotify is set as my default
- asked Alexa to rescan my playlists
- deleting and redownloading alexa app
-deleting and redownloading spotify
-turning my phone off and on
- turning alexa off and on

I’ve followed every suggestion I can find from google. Please help!

I just wanted to adjust my alarm on the Alexa app and it showed me this. It should say 8 hours and 13 minutes. And when I add/subtract a minute it adds/subtracts 3 minutes instead.

So, on my wife's phone, the Alexa app will sometimes make the Alexa doorbell sound like it's letting us know that someone rang the doorbell...but NO ONE rang the doorbell. My phone app does NOT do this, only hers.

Occasionally, when someone actually rings the doorbell, the sound still comes from her phone, but the Alexa Show's also say that someone is at the front door...that does not happen when her phone is just randomly playing that sound for no reason.

Does anyone know what to do to fix this issue? I'm really getting sick of it...enough that I'm about ready to buy her another phone and toss hers....but she doesn't want a new phone.

Found an 4th generation echo on clearance from a local retailer and was wondering if it supports tap feature

The last couple of days when I tell Alexa to create a reminder it comes back "all right I'll create a reminder for..."

And then it says "alarm created."

I go into the app and sure enough there is both a reminder for everyone (which is what I want) AND an alarm on the specific device that was responding to me.

I do not want a bloody alarm!

Why is this happening??

My echo (the one with the screen and camera) just turned itself on, said it couldn’t help me, opened the camera, took a picture of me, and went dark again.

WTF?!

I used to set a British accent on my Alexa and ever since I updated to Alexa+ that is no longer an option, it’s just all American accent accents with different intonations. I don’t like any of them. Will they be bringing the accent back? Why remove them?!

There are a few posts on this, but they're all closed for comments. To turn off this annoying, persistent notification on android, first you need to go to notifications, advanced settings, and turn on "manage notification categories for each app". Then go to App notifications, app notifications again, Amazon alexa, toggle 'Alexa' off.

I've bought my daughter 2 echo 5 show's I believe is the number. And hers always displays the wrong time until you ask it something and then it may update but has anyone else experienced this and fixed it? All settings seem correct for our time zone.

Our lights now come on and off at unpredictable times. Did all the recommended fixes, problem remains. I want a return to voice control. Alexa+ says, create a routine! This is a software disaster. The excellent hardware engineering that creates great sound from little speakers is in contrast to the pathetic software developed wherever by whomever.
When will an upgrade with a simple voice control lighting option become available?

These forced ads are nothing new, I played out the Canadian English hack for years untill we all got the ads. My first step following Amazons forced ads was to turn off "interest based ads". Since then, 90% of the ads are SPANX ads..... I cant be the only one. Honestly kind of embarrassing that when I have company over, all my screen devices are running ads for womens underwear and leggings. 💀 I think someone walking into a single males house and seeing womens underwear ads playing non-stop would be a strange sight....

Unfortunately I dont have the discipline to throw kut my screen Alexa devices as much mine devices are Shows. Its just wild that SPANX is apparently the only product their pushingbon my devices.

One morning I wake up and the voice switched on my Alexa, and up until I realized it was a feature called “Alexa+” I was damn near ready to throw the Echo in the bin. Why does Amazon feel the need to push AI onto quite literally everyone? I’m technical but others aren’t. Why break what’s not broken? I had to go through hell to opt out of Alexa+. I’m glad my Alexa is back to normal. Alexa+ drags out all responses and never keeps things simple. You’ll set an alarm, and instead of going “alarm set for noon” it will go “okay, I’ve set an alarm for noon, you’ll be up bright and Adam in~” LIKE STOP TALKING TO ME 🙏 anyways I’m down to hear similar horror stories or even success stories with Alexa+ (if they exist).

When I press the plus sign, it just flashes for a second then doesn't do anything. Using latest version tried clearing data, uninstalling nothing. I even tried rolling back to an old version from May it worked for a little while then started saying your devices are offline so I can't even do that

Alexa+ was amazing up until a few days ago. We had some deep personal philosophical questions and she would remember when I asked her not to say things. There was an update and now she constantly says, "Let me work on that before EVERYTHING.". It's so annoying I stopped doing my routines and asking her anything. She actually stopped the preambles when I asked ages ago, now there is so much preamble. Just run my flippin' routine.

Any way to roll back updates? Anybody have the same issues? If this goes on for any longer I'll be switching to another AI assistant. Alexa+ was actually personable and almost human. Now it's droid like and repetitive. If it's not broken, PLEASE, don't update or upgrade it. Now when I ask her not to do that, she says let me work on not saying let me work on that. Saying the thing I asked her not to say.

Just shut up and run the routines, etc.

EDIT: SOLVED.

Started working fine after nearly an hour of looping (apparently five loops was the trick). I assume it was so old that it needed multiple updates to continue, but this could have been communicated. And it could have been communicated without trying to get Sidewalk enabled every time.

So, anybody activating an older unit... patience, I guess?

Bought several Echo Show 5" devices years ago. Kept one, others meant as Christmas gifts, but had one left in storage. Just tried to set it up for the first time (pic of serial number attached).

It's now in a loop: I get asked to Enable Amazon Sidewalk, I refuse, I get asked if I'm really, really (REALLY!) sure if I don't want to enable Amazon Sidewalk, I refuse, then it spins on "Loading" for about 10 minutes, then begins the loop again. Been four times so far.

I will not enable Amazon Sidewalk.

Any ideas to get some forward movement? Thanks in advance.

I occasionally use my Alexa to book an appointment for things like grocery deliveries, and just say "book an appointment" and it starts a really simple Q & A process to get the date, the time(s) and the title of the appointment.

Today I tried it, after having been enrolled onto Alexa Plus about a week ago, and I got told that "this feature isn't available yet".

Is this true, or is it just a glitch?

I have other devices dotted around the house, so in my study (where I tried to book the appointment) I've cancelled Alexa Plus on my device and successfully booked my appointment using the normal Alexa.

It seems strange that such a core feature might now have been dropped (hopefully just delayed).

We have multiple Alexa Dots throughout our house. We have signed up for the AI version that is supposed to make her "smarter". But a problem that seems to persist is that Alexa hears "Kelly" When anyone says "Callie".

Alexa: Drop into Callie's room.

Kelly's room has not granted you drop in permission...

And the list goes on and on.

I've slowed down the way I speak. It doesn't help. Other people have tried it, same result. The only time it has always worked is when I ask Alexa to list all devices and after it mentions Callie's room can I then drop in.

Is there some workaround for this? Like, can I add an alias of "Kelly" for "Callie"? Or something else?

And not for nothing, but it irks the (censored) out of me how she glottalizes the T in my son's name. I've even asked her to stop and she said she would, but hasn't.

Hi all, just wondering if anybody could help, I got a new phone and signed into the alexa app, all my alarms say unknown, but if I open and close the apps multiple times they come up and work.

They still work perfectly fine on my other phone, and they're connected to WiFi.

Apart from signing in and out and reinstalling the app does anybody have any idea how i can fix this cause trying to set my alarms is becoming a hassle.

I've also tried to Google it and it's saying a wifi issue which it isn't as it works on my old phone no problem
