This is the weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post for all the small questions that you have concerning Zwift. No matter how stupid you think they are, we have probably all asked these questions.
If your post wasn't previously answered you should post early in this thread as it might have been posted too late (new posts start Sunday 0900 GMT).
Note: Don't be afraid to ask questions during the week, this is just for the simpler questions. For example "How do I give multiple ride ons at once? "..."You do this by pressing the character arrow on the map screen of the companion app". If you require a more detailed response then it is probably better answered in its own post.

Finally cracked an hour. Started off as a Z2 workout and about halfway through on turn 10 I started getting a hunch I might be on track to do it so upped the pacing a few beats. What a good feeling. This is with usually 1 stationary bike workout/week but plenty of other endurance 5-6 days/week.
Height 6’3

I want to race against other beginners just for fitness really, I joined a race called evo sprint cc or something and I couldn't pick the lowest category since my race score was too high for some reason (I've never raced and only been on the bike twice).
I got smoked right out the gates, they were doing 300-400w for like 5 minutes and by then I was dropped and to make matters worse it was some map where you just ride in circles so as they could ride in a pelaton and I was alone they just lapped me again and again. I tried to hang on but they quickly dropped me, they were pushing 200-250w average and that was the lowest race I could find.
Did I pick the wrong kind of race or is this the lowest bar of entry?

New to zwift and indoor trainers. This is the first time I used it.

I found out the v5 isn't compatible with the digital shifting, so I'm stuck with manual shifting and my derailleur is not happy
Have any of you given up on your v5 or did you learn to deal with it?
TBH, I've been riding Zwift since COVID, so digital shifting would be new for me anyway.

I’ve massively neglected my strength training in the past, mainly because I hated having DOMS and not being able to get on the bike but since I’m over that curve now, man what a difference. My endurance hasn’t really changed massively but on climbs and threshold rides, I feel like I’m able to just sustain much longer efforts without dying. Over the moon with the direction of my fitness at the moment.

I've been using a 2001 Specialized Roubaix on a Wahoo KICKR Core 1 Smart Trainer because I really don't want to use my primary bike. However, the Roubaix is showing its age, so I can either spend $300 to rebuild some stuff or spend more money and get the Zwift Ride Smart Frame to go on it.
I've pretty much decided on getting the Zwift Ride, but wanted to make sure there was nothing I needed to know beforehand. There is no planned upgrade anytime soon, I hope? I know the frame could go on sale around black Friday, but I really don't want to wait, and won't be needing the bundle.
I do plan to get the tablet extension accessory. But any other thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated!

First, here's my gear:
Head unit: Garmin 830
Rear Hub: Cycleops G2 Hub
Pedals: Garmin X220
Trainer: Yahoo Kickr Snap
I like riding Zwift (despite the bugs). I've been pushing harder on my failing health lately, so I'm spending more time looking at my numbers than ever. 56 now, I've been riding road bikes "seriously" since I was about 14.
A few days ago, Zwift on my laptop wouldn't detect my trainer. I'm not positive what fixed it, but I disconnected the trainer from power for a few minutes, and connected with it from the Wahoo app on my phone for the first time in ... well, a long time. That fixed it up; I could connect from my laptop again.
After that, the distance recorded by my Garmin head unit hasn't been quite right. Before the reconnect incident, the Garmin was recording approximately the same distance that the in-game route had in Zwift. After it, it's about 15% low ... sometimes worse.
I know that the zwift distance is an imaginary number from an imaginary world, computed based on my input weight and power and the frame and wheel choice in Zwift, and drafting and so on. But the numbers were quite close, and were close for a very long time. What happened in that connection reset to knock them out? And if the trainer is adapting resistance for the course, and being moved by my power, why shouldn't they be pretty close?
Here's the actual data:

I intend to purchase the Zwift Ride and fell that it’s time I purchase clipless pedals and shoes. Should I be looking at roadie shoes or xc shoes? I’m only considering xc shoes bc it might also be the perfect time to also go clipless on my Pivot Switchblade MTB.
Thoughts? Recommendations?
Thanks!

I have a old gravel bike on a jet black Victory. Started indoor training 1 month ago and enjoying it so far. Around 340 racing score for now.
I am not convinced to add clipless pedal to my setup. I think they are useful for safety outside, not slipping, etc. But I fail to see the benefit of using that inside? Also not convinced they give power increase after the GCN comparison on road, it is marginal. Why do you guys use them? Trying to see the opposite side arguments, thanks!
Cervelo has plenty of options, the classic P3C, the P5X, the Barrachi. Same with Trek. The 5500 (the Lance Postal Trek - ok, maybe not), the Y-frame, the original 904. Canyon has a couple, the new Predict and the EcoSpeed. BMC has the Impec, Giant could do the MCR, Scott had a couple cool Plasma concepts.
Personally I'd love Felt to have the TA/FRD and do some track racing in Zwift.
Hello fellow zwifters,
Having a technical issue that has left me about to trash everything. I have been using zwift on my phone with zero issues which is fine but I wanted to move my setup into my office and setup on my PC.
Here is the issue, my wahoo kicker snap and cadence device connect perfect to my phone. But if I attempt to use the companion app.... No devices found. I have checked both networks they match. The zc app switches to finding device once zwift on the PC starts looking so it seems like they are paired correctly.
So I decided to buy a ant+ dongle and just try and connect directly . Well that isn't working either. Both devices are found under the Bluetooth but get stuck staying connecting and then no signal.
If I try just ant+ nothing shows up. I have removed the driver. Updated windows. Uninstalled zwift , wahoo, zc on my phone. Turned all blue tooth devices off. And yet ... No signal.
Is there something simple I'm overlooking ? I've googled my ass off and no one seems to have a good answer.

Long time listener first time caller. Been on Zwift about 4-years. I'm recovering from meniscus repair surgery in January (injury from soccer not cycling) and thought I'd ask for some of your favorite WO recommendations.
I've built up to 45-min rides, and have been doing low resistance, high cadence, and just now folding in lower cadence rides as I've transitioned in PT to strength building. I love the Back to Fitness series, and all the other more obvious recovery WOs.
Just curious if anyone else who went through knee surgery (or any other type of lower extremity surgery) had a favorite that really helped them.
Links to whatsonzwift of your favs welcome!
edit: added origin of my injury

Opinions on whether:
zone 2 for running 3 days a week 45 to 120 minutes
2 hard workouts on the indoor bike (1 structured and 1 race) 45 to 120 minutes
then 1-2 days unstructured light exercise
Is a good plan to get faster on the bike. Or do I need to do zone 2 on the bike to build specific endurance?
48m, ftp is about 220w, just under 3w/kg. Trying to get to 250w real FTP.

10 days after Paris Montmartre KOM fell on opening day to myself and my Piggy, it was time to get around to the 2nd hardest KOM on Zwift to Everest.
Fat Piggy was a much-needed support wheel throughout the day and final hours as she covered our morning Alpe pacing duties.
135 repeats in total, 126 chasing my holo-replay set to previous effort (ghosty) as a pacer. The final 9 trips were done with ghosty turned off, I’d got sick of racing that smug git.
Push the 3 punchy segments and look forward to the ever-helpful Van or Aero powerups which seemed to be every trip 🤦🏼😭.
If I’m the first to Everest this KOM, I’m the first to Everest the 3 hardest KOM’s on Zwift:
Paris Montmartre KOM 354 miles
Scotland Sgurr North KOM Gravel 260 miles
Makuri Islands Temple KOM Dirt 258 miles
Is this a flex? absolute not.
I’ll never be the fastest or strongest Virtual Everester, I’ve got at least 3 aborted attempts, so I’m weak in the mind as well as the legs somedays or I just get the pacing or nutrition wrong.
Fat Piggy & Fat Pineapple are your pacers for Alpe every Saturday 8am CT. We will also be your pacers / support wheels for the US time zone Virtual Everesting Day basecamps.
These start on September 6th on the Grade and repeat every 2 weeks as we climb towards Virtual Everesting Day Dec 29th multiple time zones.
Between us we have 20 VE’s (Piggy 12) and we want to share the skill of suffering. Our goal is to help get riders stronger.
I am looking for like-minded riders in the UK/Euro time zone who are willing to give up their time to help others achieve something they may think is out of reach.
Ask questions…get answers…don’t like them?…do something about it
Climb on ↗️⛰️🫡

We have got some new bike frames recently but it’s the same old traditional frames. Any chance of us getting something more new unique?

I just noticed that Route of the Week and Climb of the Week have gone back to being seperate. Route is worth 250xp and climb is worth 500.

I’m doing the tour fever event. I’m newish to zwift (about 6 months) and almost never do the races cause I don’t do well in them honestly lol. Haven’t tried one in months. Well I decided to do one today cause I really want to get the bucket hat for completing 10 activities. I was less than a mile from finishing top 20. I know that’s a terrible finish for a lot of people but I’m not exactly a seasoned pro here so this was a big achievement for me. and then my FUCKING INTERNET DISCONNECTED. It somehow let me complete the route, gave me the confetti and told me I got the route badge and unlocked some glasses, but I couldn't see my standing compared to other riders and as far as I can tell it didn’t save and I’m going to have to do it again to have it count as a completed activity. I am pissed. Apparently it’s an internet outage in my area, not just my house, but this is only the third time my internet has ever gone out in the 3 years of having this provider so OF COURSE it choose right when I am almost done in a race I really dont want to do again and most likely wont do as well in. I am so upset.
This is mostly just a vent, but also does anyone know if there’s somehow a way to get it updated so it counts toward my tour fever activities? I’m still mad I’ll never know how I ranked, but I’d love to at least not have to do it again. I’m connected to my hotspot now and it is showing the route badge but it’s not showing as completed in the tour fever page.
Hey, i am having issues with fitting bike on trainer. There is a gap where you can see thru axel. My question is should there be some kind of adapter so it fits better?
I'm around 7 months in now and I feel like I need to get a cheap road bike for commuting and riding IRL. just wondering what the experience suppose to be like? I need to save on fuel and possibly trying to get more fit out of my way commute to work.
FYI: I never ever bike 20-30km daily like I did in Zwift.
