Moved back to Yellowknife and now I’m wondering if there is (or not) a pagan community up here? I’m an eclectic pagan and wondering if there are meet ups or is this more of a solitary path up here.

Hi all! I am from Mexico and it is my first time traveling to Yellowknife to see northern lights! This is also my first time seeing snow, so I am bit intrigued by how cold is the weather up there.

I was watching some videos on how to dress for those kind of places and for the pants they recommend doing the base layer, then a fleece layer and lastly a soft shell, but they say I might want to get an additional layer for water resistance. How many layers do I really need?!

I am a bit confused with all this info, a point of view from someone with more experience is much appreciated!

PS we are traveling the first 2 weeks of October and we are also doing Vancouver/Calgary, so if I could reuse some of the gear it would be perfect!

My Sheppard has a cut over her eye and i would like to get a vet to look at it.

The time has come when I need glasses for driving. There are 2 optical stores in town that seem to fit. I have health insurance, so I think its 600$ max. Could that work at these stores? Which shop do people recommend?

I am currently from the USA, and am looking at a conservatorship job with the Government of Northwest Territories in the museum system in Yellowknife. It is around 126K a year, with the governmental benefits, but i would like to ask the locals as to how it is in that area of Canada, and if the 6 figures is more of a honeypot than what is really there. Hello, using a throwaway account as I’ve got an offer for a job at STH nursing in the ICU. I’m currently in Toronto and super interested in visiting/living in Yellowknife for a bit! I’m wondering if there’s anyone who could give me some firsthand info about working at STH or in the ICU there? I understand it’s not going to be like downtown Toronto and it will be frigid when I come (January) but would just like some more info regarding what shifts are like, work culture, patient population etc.

I had an incredibly upsetting and unprofessional experience at Haks Autobody yesterday, and I’m looking for advice on the best way to handle this.

When I arrived to get a repair quote, Sinead? the owner bypassed any professional conversation and immediately started making aggressive, prejudiced assumptions about my background. He openly expressed hostility, treated me as if I were a criminal, and made derogatory, baseless comments about me not having insurance.

His behavior was not just rude; it was clearly discriminatory and entirely unprovoked. It was one of the most hostile interactions I have ever had at a place of business, and it left me feeling unsafe.

I am looking for advice on the following:

1. Is there a formal way to report a business for this kind of aggressive, discriminatory conduct?
2. Should I file a complaint with a consumer protection agency or a human rights board?
3. How can I handle this to ensure there are consequences for this type of behavior without putting myself in further conflict?

I want to take the right steps to address this professionally. Any advice on how to report this effectively would be appreciated.

The intention in addressing this is that if today we allow such open hate / discrimination and unprofessionalism towards one group of people, this may happen to us tomorrow as we all are from some group that can be discriminated against in one way or the other.

Just wondering if anyone here has somewhat recently done their class 4 license in Yellowknife and where you went to get the medical fitness form filled out. I'm getting mixed information from people, and from what I know primary care doesn't do forms? To note, I do not have a family doctor at this time.
