i wouldn't believe myself tbh,
it ALL began when i got done capturing the Erlking, seemed easy enough, lets go for more, so i scoped arount 18 billion (btw in german it's called 18 trillion i guess?) if you wanna sue me, tell them i told you that the german client said "Achtzehn Milliarden" (so 18.... LOTS of "0") just for your mcdonald happy little sue finger that you didnt call sue with anyway,
enough with the funny haha stuff, the erlking capture is easy because it just sits there (hell, if have bothered to get some vet marines, i might've got it in the first run) waiting to get picked up,
1st attempt, OOS:
i positioned 2 of my lovely hercules (um, vanguard? idrk, i'm on the german client) the ones that can carry 219 marines, ofc them being building ships they cant move around fast (that'll come in later) and i fitted them out poorly aswell, thinking of "cannonfodder" kinda way, "you spend 15 million to get a unique ship", anyway, i positioned them OOS next to the erlking, started the capture attempt at "very strong", "very strong", the odds at the 3rd stage were ~2780 attack power to ~1200 something in defense, and because RNG is a bitch, i lost,
not to matter! (arsch leggn) i thought to myself because there seems to be always a cap on a capture attempt (why? do marines not like standing in line?) so i hopped in my moreya, and flew into the sector, because after the first OOS attempt failed the Erlking just vanished from the radar, i can see that as anti-cheese-mechanic, "heheh buddy what now" -thing, but i couldn't see it anymore on the map screen, but my two herculesesesess (?!) were still there, and still in "capturing mode", so i still had two lines pointing towards the ship, so i flew in.
2nd attempt, IS:
that was bit of a mess because i set the max order of marines you can send a little wonky, more like, "mhhh sure" from ship 1 and "yeah the rest" from ship 2, and since i lost the first boarding, without the ship in map scope, only if you were in sector (have i mentioned that before? it didnt vanish, just from radar, but if you were in-system and close enough you could still target it) which meant, manual labour, so i docked at the hercules with the most marines and gave it thee old manual go, which turned out pretty nicely, if you watch out for those station plasma turrets, bit of waiting around and tanking the stations defense drones were no problem for even teladi shields (imagine if you'd go saucer saiyan mk3?!?! yep, for me, terran building is weird)
3rd, which is kinda the point of this post?
i thought, in my ~1500 hours i have in this game, it would be time for something new, and cap a (on the german client) PGS plunderer, the one's that always roam around in L ships, and i got my sight on a Basilisk (ship variation mod) love the thing, perfect for quick striking, but as i learned, i tried the OOS attempt, the ships were ontop of each other from every direction looking, the hercules wouldnt send the pods, it was set to highest of high settings, nothing happend, then i got kinda miffed. traveled into the sector, by that time i had in-sector-teleportation unlocked (first reason for that was to find the erlking blueprints in avarice and in case of the "big wave" you know, savety and that boring stuff) why was i miffed? oh yeah, because at the same time i teleported to the hercules, it sent off all of the marines, the opposing basilisk was aggro'd (red) but instead of fighting a weaponless civilian ship (mine), it flew away.... FAR away... 6370,3 km to the north-east direction in Black Sun V to be exact, and the capture pods of the hercules were *beep beep* -in behind at a blistering 110m/s T_T
long story short on that one, i caught up to it with my hyperion, killed my own capture pods to reset the the actual capture, and here we go, a basilisk with one engine crawling towards my supply ship while it being 6000+ km away from the next gate, and it only took like 6 hours :D
but hey, such is the game o7
