Hey, /r/winnipeg. Buying or selling? Post in this thread!

I would highly recommend engaging with the community and leaving your expectations at the door. If you do not understand what you are getting into there is a chance your brand could be damaged.

Lastly, moderators are not making money on this. We are not affiliated with anyone. No we won't promote you. No, we don't accept money. No, not even for you.

Food Sottobraccio

Anyone know what’s going on with the new restaurant in the village? They recently opened but then just changed their entire menu. Many of the items that were popular on the menu are now gone (mussel toast, funghi fritti, scallop crudo etc.) and have been replaced with dishes similar to Harth (prosciutto toast, warm olives etc.)

Charity Dog Rescue

I love dogs. I have had dogs my entire life. All were "rescues" before it was even a thing. Shelters etc.

Regardless, I have a loving home, plenty of land and lots of experience to train another dog.

Are there any places that are easier to deal with? Met a few red flags out there.

Community Was I in the wrong?

Upvotes

Does anyone know what rule. Is about leasing your dogs on your property?

I had a weird experience with someone in my neighbourhood.

The other day I decided to do some work on my car in my driveway and I had my unleashed dog sitting on my unfenced front lawn behind me.

As I was in the middle of some work, I hear a lady walking her dog yelling out at someone in front of my neighbours yard. I looked towards that direction and she was looking at me so I assumed she was speaking to me.

So I stand up to see what she wanted and after I said "Hi" she started going off at me for being irresponsible for have my unleashed dog sitting there.

For background, my dog is a 9 yr old GSD and he is very well trained. (I get she doesn't know me)

She berated me for like a minute or so before I cut her off and told her had she just kept on her way she would've been at the street over by now.

All this happening while my dog sat in the same spot only sitting up (he was on his stomach prior) cause I stood up.

I told her to mind her own business and to keep walking and she threatened to call animal services on me. I yelled back saying I'm on private property and they can't do anything for her.

My question is, was I wrong to have my dog unleashed on my unfenced front yard and will anytime come of her calling animal services?

Ask Winnipeg Bacteriostatic water, where to find?

Anyone know where I can find Hospira/Pfizer bac water in this city? The usual spot (starts with an M) is out until August. I’ve called every pharmacy around me, none. And no, not Amazon. It’s garbage. Looking for somewhere in the city I can go in person to and make sure it’s actually Pfizer.
Thanks so much.

A missing 26-year-old man whom Winnipeg police were searching for last week in and around St. Vital Park — including in the Red River — has been found dead.

Foul play is not suspected in Richard Wanke's death, and his family is requesting privacy, the Winnipeg Police Service said in an email to media Tuesday.

Police previously said Wanke was last seen around 1 p.m. on July 13 on Lansdowne Avenue, between McGregor and Powers streets, in Winnipeg's North End.

He was believed to have gone to St. Vital Park in the south part of the city. Police had asked the public to avoid the area around the boat launch where officers were working on the evening of July 14.

Police had said they were concerned for Wanke's well-being. No further details were provided on Tuesday about his death.

Ask Winnipeg Life in WPG

Hi ! I’m 25F living in Ontario and I’m also a practical nursing student set to finish my program at the end of this summer. I’ve been thinking about my next step in life as I move into this career and I’m heavily considering moving out of ON because I want to be able to actually afford life on my own comfortably lol. What I want to know is:

  1. What do you like most about living in Winnipeg?

  2. How do you survive the winters? (For added context I’m a tropical princess that moved to Canada so adjusting to the winters has been… interesting 😂 but I’ve been getting by!!)

  3. For nurses, how seamless is the transition from LPN to RN ? I know in Ontario there are many bridging programs to get students from RPN to RN in about 3 years and it seems pretty straightforward so how does the the process in Winnipeg compare ?

  4. Is transit terrible ? I currently have a car in ON but I’m a very “sell everything and go” person if it makes my life easier so is a car a must or can one get by on transit ?

  5. Average monthly costs with all things considered ? Food, transit/ car costs especially insurance lol, utilities and rent vs mortgage (I have been looking at the costs of 1br apartments which seem much more reasonable than the same in Ontario/GTA)

Any insight is appreciated thnx :))

UNIQLO will open its second Winnipeg location at St. Vital Centre on August 21, the Japanese fashion retailer has announced.

The 15,000-square-foot store will open at 10 a.m. to kick off a weekend of community events.

Opening highlights include limited in-store offers, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a taiko drumming performance by Fukubiki Daiko, and complimentary strawberry-matcha crullers from Crumb Queen and Maro Matcha lattes for the first 300 customers.

Opening day begins at 9:10 a.m. with complimentary crullers and lattes for the first 300 customers in line, followed by a taiko drumming performance at 9:40 a.m. and opening speeches and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:50 a.m. before the store opens to customers at 10 a.m.

The store will span multiple combined spaces inside the south Winnipeg shopping mall at centre court. Exterior signage has already been installed on the facade of the former Hudson’s Bay department store, which closed in May 2025.

UNIQLO, which now operates more than 2,500 stores worldwide, opened its first Winnipeg location in CF Polo Park in May.
