Looking for Home - 2 Sister Cats

Hey guys, I found these 2 in a single carrier on the streets in brooklyn last year,I had a friend foster them for a almost a year but unfortunately was not able to find a home for them and I'll be taking them back on Friday 07/24, but unable to keep them long term.

I'm hoping someone can take these 2 sweet hearts, absolute angels named Matcha & Mocha, my apartment is too small to house them longer than a few days. Resources are also very tight for me

If anyone in the Brooklyn/Boroughs are interested in these 2 sisters, please reach out! (Please serious inquires only)

I have a vehicle so can bring them to you if needed. If anyone can take them this weekend or even sooner that would be great. I know the success rate of them being adopted, especially together is low and it would break my heart to surrender them to a shelter.

To the man who called me a fat ass in Domino Park today 7/21

To the man who called me a fat ass in Domino Park today when I tried to pass you and your girlfriend, who were taking up the entire width of the park with your dog: do better.

If you have an issue with the way I passed you (even though I said "on your right" several times when YOU were the ones taking up the entire path), fine. Flip me off. Say "fuck you." Whatever. But jumping straight to insulting a woman's body? And then doubling down when I confronted you? That's pathetic.

Did no one ever teach you how to speak to women? You called a random woman a "fat ass" not once, but multiple times, right in front of your girlfriend... and she didn't say a word. I was honestly disappointed by that. If I were in her position, I couldn't imagine standing there silently while the man I was with repeatedly demeaned another woman like that.

If you're this comfortable demeaning a woman in public over something so trivial, I don't even want to imagine how you speak to women in private.

For what it's worth, I'm in shape and training for a marathon... but that shouldn't matter. What an embarrassing excuse for a man. Shame on you. People like you are the reason I want to leave this neighborhood.

Neighborhood Mainstay Closing in September: Williamsburg Thai Cuisine

Post image
130 Upvotes

Dear friends and neighbors:

Williamsburg Thai Cuisine at 212 Bedford Avenue, between North 5th and North 6th, is shutting down sometime in September. It's one of the few old-school restaurants on Bedford that survived this long. They've been serving up great, inexpensive Thai food for maybe 20 years? And their portions are now bigger than ever (a parting gift?).

I have no affiliation with this spot but it's one of my long-time staples for quick, reliable takeout and when I was recently there, they told me the news since they know me as a regular. Please go have some tasty Thai food and help give the family a boost before they shut their doors. They are great people and they deserve your support.

There goes the neighborhood... again.

Aburi Sushi permanently closed?

This was my go to sushi spot for a basic weeknight sushi order. Google Maps says it’s closed for good. Does anyone know what happened? I’m shocked :(

You mean the bougie, quasi-gelato place that takes an hour wait is full of processed junk...shocking!

Dog walkers: do better.

If you’re walking dogs in the neighborhood, please don’t let them pee directly on the front entrance of residential buildings. It’s disrespectful to the people who live there and gives responsible dog owners a bad reputation.

They are seeking residents input on converting grand and metropolitan into one way street between union and where they connect at the metro bridge.

mouldy food from whole foods grand st

i've had one too many experiences of buying stuff from the "new" whole foods on grand st. only to find they're mouldy when coming to use them. yesterday bought parmesan cheese with an expiry date of October & a bag of cucumbers, both green and mouldy when i came to use them today. disappointing considering how expensive it is. anyone else had a similar experience or am i just extremely unlucky..

Looking for a hobby this summer? Here's everything I found happening around Brooklyn....

I spent way too much time digging through class schedules, community calendars, and studio websites, searching for a course to sign up for this summer, so I figured I'd share the highlights.

If you've been saying "I need a hobby," here's what's on offer this summer. This directory covers the following hobbies:

  • Pottery/ceramics
  • Woodworking/carving
  • Jewelry making/Silversmithing
  • Sewing/crocheting/knitting
  • Quilting
  • Watercoloring/figure drawing
  • Making collages/mosaics/stained glass
  • Glass fusing/flameworking
  • Zine making
  • Darkroom photography
  • Fiction writing
  • Memoir writing
  • Creative writing
  • Pole dancing
  • Tango and other dance courses
  • Yoga
  • Archery
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • Shuffleboard
  • Pétanque
  • Roller dance
  • Hockey
  • Disc golf
  • Surfing
  • Kayaking
  • Canoeing
  • Guitar
  • Violin
  • Ukulele
  • DJing
  • Mushroom identification
  • Plant identification
  • Breathwork
  • Craniosacral therapy
  • Plus lots of recurring craft nights and open studios.

The full guide includes prices, neighborhoods, and start dates (there are 70+ listings across Brooklyn).

Hope many of you find it helpful or inspiring!

If I missed any great classes or recurring meetups, I'd love to add them for the next edition.
