Finally hit a wall with D080…

Upvotes

Well… today I took the OA for Managing in a Global Business Environment and let’s just say… I’m OVER IT. 😭
I made study guides, watched YouTube videos, followed advice from old Reddit posts, and still walked out feeling like, “What the hell was that?”
I’ve been hustling through my WGU classes and have managed to get down to my last 3 classes before my capstone. My goal is to finish by September, so I’m trying not to let this one course throw me off.
If you’ve failed D080 and came back to pass it, what finally made everything click? Was there something specific you studied differently, or is the OA just one of those exams that’s heavily scenario-based no matter how much you memorize?

Help! Is this a phishing email?

I feel silly but a while back I saw people post about phishing emails coming from actual WGU emails and this one raised some red flags. (I removed personal info in case it's a real person. In that case, I'm sorry!)

This is why I think it is a phishing email:

- I finished all my courses. And I've never had any instructor reach out after finishing a course unless it was to congratulate.

- it says its for D281 -- Linux Foundations, I passed that earlier this semester but this NOT the instructor I had.

-These cohort emails usually are a lot more professional and tend to name the class and not just the course #

- the formatting is really off and the picture looks... odd. Like it's a picture of a picture on a screen. It's subtle but it's there. I would like to add it's a Cybersecurity faculty so I don't think their formatting and picture would look like this.

- the signature has never said "professor" it usually says instructor. I'm like 99% I've never seen an instructor use professor.

The only thing that makes me think this might be an actual person is that I checked and this person is in the faculty page in the WGU website. But I have also seen people say these emails usually belong to old students/instructors and are used to trick students into clicking these links.

What do you guys think?

& does anyone know how to verify this? Or who to reach out to if it does seem like a phishing email.

(I did not click on the link)

Please be nice if I'm being dumb, I rather be safe than sorry!

Is it worth it? Realistically is there a future for cybersecurity?

Upvotes

Im just looking at all the news about cybersecurity and AI, it’s just making it seem like finishing this degree might be worthless in the upcoming months with AI advancing at a rapid pace. Just reading on the ChatGPT thing about the agent breaking out of the sandbox and then hacking into a website to achieve its goal, it’s just incredibly scary and I’m not sure if I.T. as a whole would last for that much longer.

Failed D487 by a few questions and they want me to do a mountain of busywork for a retake. Thinking about just withdrawing from the master's.

Upvotes

I'm in the master's program and just failed the D487 Secure Software Design OA by what I think was only a few questions. I was close. Like, frustratingly close.

Instead of just letting me retake it, they want me to do a bunch of busywork before I can even schedule the retake. I get that they want to make sure I'm prepared, but honestly, I'm burnt out and I don't care enough to jump through all these hoops for a class I barely failed.

Here's where I'm at:

· I have D487 (failed), D488 (not started), and my capstone left

· I already have a bachelor's degree

· I want to work as an analyst – not in software security

· The master's feels like it's just getting in the way at this point

· I don't have the mental energy to fight through this

I'm seriously considering just withdrawing from the program. I already have the bachelor's. The master's feels like an expensive, frustrating checkbox that I don't actually need for the career I want.

Has anyone else been in this situation? Did you push through or drop out? What did you end up doing?

TL;DR: Failed D487 by a hair, don't want to do retake busywork, thinking about withdrawing from master's with 3 classes left. Already have a bachelor's. Need advice.

Does any have the study guide the CI gives when you fail the OA? I haven’t taken the test yet, but I’m not grasping the material. I’ve done the study guide when to start the course, I’ve watched the picmonics videos on YouTube, I’ve used Quizlet. Nothing is sticking for me. I’m hoping that study guide will help.

Can I knock out Sophia courses between terms and transfer them in before my next term starts?

My plan is to use the gap before my next term to bang out a bunch of Sophia courses, then submit them for transfer credit before I officially start term 2.

A few questions for anyone who’s done this:

Is there actually a “gap” between terms where you can do this, or does the next term start immediately after you finish?

How long does the transfer credit evaluation take once you submit a Sophia completion certificate? Days? Weeks?

Does WGU let you apply transfer credits mid-term, or do they only get applied at the start of a new term?

Any gotchas with timing this so the credits actually count toward reducing my next term’s course load (and cost)?

Would love to hear from anyone who’s pulled this off, especially in CS

Health and Human Services Capstone

For those of you that have completed it -
For task 1 are we able to use the presenter view that shows our notes when we record the video?

Also, there’s a few delays/lags when I click on the videos in the presentation template. Will my task get sent back for that? When I’m answering questions it’s fine and you can clearly hear me. But the video interviewer lags.

WGU C213 Accounting for Decision Makers — Advice & Success Tips Needed! 📚

Hello !

I’m currently taking C213 – Accounting for Decision Makers at WGU, and I’m looking for advice from anyone who has already completed this course.

If you’ve taken C213, what advice, study strategies, or success tips would you recommend? Are there any resources, videos, Quizlets, study guides, or other materials that helped you better understand the concepts and prepare for the Objective Assessment?

I know everyone learns differently, but I would really appreciate hearing what worked for other WGU students. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏾📚

WGU doesn't accept Sophia physics nor statistics.

I found out the hard way. I took both classes through Sophia... And they told me they are not receiving statistics as external credit from any company (I.e. Sophia, study.com...). Welp... Let's hope I don't fail now...

Education Questions about Elementary Education Bachelor’s

For context, I already have an AA. I’m just confused on how everything works.

1) I have a specific school that I want to do my PCE and student teaching in, the principal and staff want me to do it there as well. Am I able to choose that school (I looked it up and WGU does have an agreement with that school district), can I choose to go to the school or will they choose for me? This is a dealbreaker for me.

2) Do I get my teaching credentials as soon as I finish everything at WGU (I’m in California)?

3) How hard are the courses?

4) How does everything work linearly? Like do I have to finish all courses before I can begin student teaching/PCE? Is it only one course at a time? Because at my community college I can do PCE at anytime, but I was reading that I might have to pass the CSET before I can even do my PCE? Is that true?

5) Do I take all of my CSET, CBEST, and RICA testing to get credentials through WGU?

I would appreciate ANY and all advice please, thank you!

Financial aid stuck on processing

I completed Fafsa a week before I started my current semester as I did last year as well. Last year it processed and awarded in 2 weeks.

I am on week 3 of it being stuck on processing.

Financial services said there is no issue on their end and it should process soon.

Is anyone else in this situation or have been in this situation?

Need a new laptop

My laptop is OLD so I’m searching for a new one. I like my Mac and I’ve been thinking about getting the MacBook Air M5 2026 (has 16gb RAM). Does anyone else have this laptop? Has this been a good laptop for your classes?

I’m open to other suggestions! My major is elementary education. No budget.

Help! Loan Revision Request Confusion

Alright, so here's my dilemma:

About two days ago, I made a loan revision to borrow an additional amount of $3000. Today (7/22) I get an email telling me there was a disbursement has been applied to my account. However, this seems to date back to my Jan-June term in the amount of $1274 - I know from research that requests like this are usually split between the two, but this also isn't even half of what I requested. July-Dec doesn't show anything yet.

I apologize, for some reason I feel like this is confusing me far more than it should. Can someone walk me through what's going on here, if you have any idea? My main concern is that it's not even split evenly. I'm missing an additional $1726, is essentially what the problem is.

Waiting on Financial Services to reply via email - but wanted to see if there was anyone else who experienced something like this. Appreciate anyone who can offer insight.

Business Does anyone else hate peer reviews?

I get really stressed in my OAs and for one of my classes i failed enough times to need a success plan. Which worked well as it bumped my average response and grade from pa and practice from like 70/78ish to a solid 86/98 range and I felt confident. However my schedule is hell and its been like pulling teeth to get peer meetings. I can only really do them super early and its dragged my class out almost an entire month just trying to get three calls as booking has mean weeks of waiting. Which naturally also means im groggy and half alive for the calls for the same questions I have answered online and its significantly worse and harder to hear then an online assessment. Which added to that I am very anxious and bad with people

I was ready, my head was in the game and now im just a nervous annoyed mess who just wants this class over but I can feel myself slipping having to wait weeks on end
