So I know this is a silly first world teenage problem but basically I am in year 13 Auckland and I've wanted to go to VUW for years however there is this guy who is in my class who's going to VUW next year and I cannot be in any way around him for complicated reasons and I am so opposed to it that I'm planning to go to Auckland university just to avoid him. I'm just wondering is it possible to go to VUW but not even interact with him and all and he maybe wouldn't even know I was there???

Hi everyone. My name is Douglas Renwick. I went to this university and graduated a while ago. Since then I've become a political dissident. I've interacted with a couple of activist groups around here and am friendly with them.

One of my goals is to expose the economics professors at this university for their complicity in ecocide and crimes that would kill billions of people. More generally, I want people to just think about it.

To start with, ECON141 teaches the William Nordhaus approach to climate change, on Week 11 of the course. I'll start by saying that Nordhaus got a Nobel prize in 2018, and in his speech, (and his work in general), he advocates warming the world to 4 degrees Celcius, as a trade off with the economy.

The planetary solvency report dashboard, made by actuaries and climate scientists, (google it) says 2 degrees would kill over 2 billion people. 3 degrees by 2050 (if we are that unlucky) would kill 4 billion or more. Get the picture?

Historian Benjamin Franta has argued that the American Petroleum Institute funded and influenced many of the arguments that are being taught.

The reason I'm reaching out to students and not bothering with debate with economists anymore, is because I think most of them are lying to you or themselves. Nordhaus was exposed in 2020 by Steve Keen, 1999 by John Quiggin, in 1983 by physicist Alvin Weinberg. And it goes all the way back to 1970. So it seems to me that facts are irrelevant to them.

Some of his selective use of data were also exposed by me, and I've shown historians how their work has been selectively used by him. (Naomi Oreskes, for example. She agreed with me on this).

Now, on the cusp of an ecological disaster, your professors are still teaching fossil fuel propaganda.

I'm willing to discuss this with anyone here, including your economics professors if they want to. I can also discuss alternatives solutions or just listen to your political concerns in general.

If you’ve taken this course before, could you please share your experience regarding how difficult it is and whether the workload (especially the labs) is math-heavy? Also, I'm trying to figure out if the Midterm and Final exams are in-person or online, and what the exam format is like—is it mostly multiple-choice, or does it focus on quantitative problems and business case study analysis? Because I will study it in trimester 3 for 5 weeks and Im very worry about the difficult of this subject. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I’m in my third year of law. In my first year I got an overall B+ law grade (but that was at another Uni and doesn’t count towards my GPA). Last year I had some medical issues which rlly affected my grades. So my grades are sitting at about C, C+, B and B-.

I also have a BA with a GPA of B+ at another uni.

What are my chances of actually being accepted into a clerkship/internship. Is it still possible?

I am doing a Masters by course work. The papers I am doing are all taught in half and full day block sessions. The course outlines and reading material was all released a few days ago. All of the papers have some prerequsite work required for the first cluster of sessions at the end of this week.

One of the papers reading list just feels excessive. All up, there is over 700 pages over 20 documents of "required" reading with another 200 "optional". All specific to the first full day session this week. The other two papers I am doing have a couple of articles and specific chapters, and a good course outline.

Is this in any way reasonable? None of the previous papers had this amount and its taken me about 10 hours to get though 1/4 of it and there is no way I will get through it all this week.

Aloha! I'm a U.S. citizen who will be attending Victoria University of Wellington starting in Jan 2027. Applications for housing don't open for another month, but I'm wondering where the best place among uni provided housing would be to live. Based on what I've read and been able to see on the website, I'm thinking that my current preference is in roughly this order:

• 222 Willis Apartments
• Kelburn Flats
• Waiteata Apartments
• Education House

Everything I've read has told me to apply for housing as early as possible. I'm wondering if anyone is living or has lived in any of those places can tell me what it's actually like living there, and how likely I am to get in. I am a 27 year old woman going for a master's degree, so I'd prefer to at least have my own room in a shared house if not a studio. However, I've also read that move-in day for these kinds of places would be Feb 14th, which a month after my first class starts. Not sure what to do about that.

Any advice would be amazing!

ive been not a great student among my straight A friends, not too bad however ig i havent fail any course and rarely get C in overall grade (got like 2 so far), but procrastinating and worries for money still not making me a better person. every new sem start ive been saying to myself that “this is gotta be my sem!!” and i still dont do good, i do bad on assignments, cant get anywhere near an A.

is starting to change myself this sem late for me? i dont even think my grade will be enough to apply for master after i learned that sometimes they require B+ to apply for master. am i too late? can i still make changes? pls be honest tysm.

What kinds of projects or skills make a graduate stand out? Is there anything you wish new designers included in their portfolios? Or, if you’ve done a Capstone yourself, is there anything you’d do differently?
