Hey everyone I’m from Davis trying to stuff as a student but I’ve tried Facebook and got no reply’s. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on where to try putting the stuff it’s just random stuff I’m trying to declutter to make extra cash

Hi, I just really need some advice right now regarding next year. I am going to be an incoming sophomore and I was apart of a club last year where I met most of my friends and some amazing people. My dilemma is whether I should continue in the club or not.

While I met a lot of great people in the club, there is a culture in the club from other members that makes me extremely uncomfortable. There is a lot of casual racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of prejudice all around the club. There has been a lot of instances of racist comments made in other languages by a small group in the club. I've heard other people say they didn't vote for certain members in the board elections because they were gay. There also been a ton of r slurs thrown, encouraging cheating, bullying, and other comments that are just unacceptable.

I want to speak out on the issue, but when a previous member spoke out about it, people made up rumors about them that affected their job/social life, excluded the member and treated the member awfully until they left. I have never seen any of my friends engage in any of this, but it makes me feel sick being apart of this club. Most of the problematic members have graduated, but I'm scared that this "culture" will persist after these people graduated. All my friends said they are going to continue being in the club this upcoming year, but I don't know what to do. This is the only club with this activity at UC Davis, so there isn't some other club I can join to do this.

How should I approach this? Should I talk to my friends about it? I'm just scared that the information will spread that I am speaking out about it and get met with same treatment the previous member got. But if I don't say anything and don't join the club, my friends are going to be wondering what happened. So please help.

Hi everyone! I'm an incoming Biochemical Engineering major hoping to transfer into Biomedical Engineering next year. I had a few questions and would really appreciate any advice from current students or alumni.

1. Math Placement (MAT 21A vs. 21B)

I took the math placement test and was recommended to start in MAT 21A or MAT 21B. The last time I took calculus was AP Calculus BC during my junior year of high school, and I got a 4 on the AP exam. However, I'm definitely rusty on the material now.
Would you recommend starting from MAT 21A to rebuild a strong foundation, or is it better to begin with MAT 21B even if I'm a little out of practice? I'm trying to balance staying on track without risking earning a bad grade.

2. Chemistry (CHE 1 vs. CHE 2A)

I've actually never taken a chemistry course before, so I was planning to start with CHE 001, even though I know many engineering freshmen begin with CHE 2A.
Would starting with CHE 001 put me behind in future engineering coursework, or is it worth taking the extra time to build a solid chemistry foundation?

3. Foreign Language and GE Requirements

I know the College of Engineering doesn't require a foreign language, but I'd like to continue studying one that I've already started learning.
Can a language course count toward any GE requirements, and has anyone found it worthwhile to continue taking a language as an engineering major?

4. Orchestra Experience

I'm planning to audition for the symphony orchestra and was wondering if anyone could share their experience with it.
How is the workload, and did you find it enjoyable? Is it a good course to take, especially if it can help fulfill a GE requirement?

5. Scheduling Advice

In general, do you recommend scheduling classes back-to-back, or is it better to leave breaks between classes?
I'd love to hear what has worked best for you, especially as an engineering student

I made a stupid mistake regarding my rental dates. My summer lease ends in August, but I can't move into my new place for the fall until September—leaving a gap of about 17 days—during which I'll be taking classes for Summer Session 2. I would greatly appreciate any advice. It would be great if someone could sublet a room to me in September.

I'm starting my first year this fall quarter and I wanted to add a first year seminar to my schedule. On the seminar website that lists all the ones available, it says they all have 14 seats open. But on schedule builder every seminar I'm interested in only has 2 seats open. If the seminars are only available to first years, why are almost all the seats taken already? And what are my chances of getting into one?

Just checked my awards for this coming school year and god damn my middle class scholarship got cut by like 60%. Like wtf, I know I’m not living in dorms anymore and that newsom cut the budget but down 60%? That’s insane

I'm under 18 so I can't do the online submission, so I had my dad send the application through AskVA. I was also wondering if any of you guys were able to get in state tuition through the GI Bill. hello aggies! i am an incoming human biology freshman at ucdavis this fall. i was wondering if it would be wise to take mat17 and che002 for fall quarter. i was originally to do che002 and bio1 and bio1l but i have not taken a math class since ap precalc my junior year and i am worried the further i push back taking math the more i will forget. the only thing i am concerned about taking mat17 for fall quarter is that all of the professor options have mixed or outright bad reviews on rate my professor (varn, lee, daddel, sherman-bennett). should i just wait to take mat17 during the winter or is that not wise? any advice or recommendations regarding these courses or professors i would greatly appreciate. thank you so much!

So I'll have to take the chem placement test Sep 2, after both P1 & P2 has passed. Will there be any spots left for CHE 1 during open reigstration or is it over?
