Meta Discussion The State of the Sub, November 2025: New Flairs, A New Rule, and Several Reminders

Hello everyone!

We hope you are doing well as the year steadily comes to a close! This has been quite the year for the r/Twilight subreddit, with more than 185,000 active forum users, and more than 3 million engagements almost every month.

In response to several community requests, two new flairs have been enabled for public posts over the last month, which you may have noticed during their brief trial period: Cosplay Content, and FTF Forever Twilight in Forks.

The Cosplay Content flair allows you to showcase the hard work you have put into your costumes, but it does have caveats: this flair can only be used for video and photo posts, and Patreon, OnlyFans, or Kofi links are not allowed in their descriptions. Cosplay dedicated Instagram links are allowed. Each user may post a maximum of four Cosplay Content posts per calendar month.

The FTF Forever Twilight in Forks flair allows you to discuss the annual festival held in Forks Washington: it is not for any transactions, such as trading or selling tickets, or arranging carpools or roommate arrangements. This subreddit is, at the end of the day, anonymous, and the official Facebook group is where you should turn to if you need to connect with other festival goers in an identified manner. Please, do not ever agree to meet up with anyone you meet online who has not fully identified themselves to you. This subreddit is not responsible for your actions offline.

Four points of conversation have been added to the subreddit’s FAQ section, therefore removing them from the “frequently reposted” topic lineup. These points include “How can I tell what edition my book is?”, “How do Alice’s visions work, and who can she see?”, “Did Jacob only love Bella because of Renesmee?”, and “Why do the Cullens go to high school?”

Additionally, a subrule of Rule #2: Content must be high quality (valuable and constructive) [Quality], has been broken out into its own rule – Rule #13: All AI and LLM Content is Banned [Quality]. While AI and LLM originated content has been banned under Rule #2 for quite some time, we find it has become necessary to separate this out as its own rule for the sake of public facing accountability. In recent months, the subreddit has been inundated with AI generated photo, video, and text posts, and it has become nigh impossible for the moderation team to sift out the true posts from the spam.

By separating out this rule, we are able to institute 7 day posting bans for repeat offenders, with permanent bans possible for particularly egregious offenders. This rule will extend to the Fanfiction and Meme subs. The exact text of Rule #13 will be as follows

Rule #13: All AI and LLM Content is Banned [Quality]

Banned posts include, but are not limited to:

  • AI generated character images
  • Deep Fake video content
  • Fake film trailers made using AI
  • AI generated fanart
  • LLM generated text posts
  • FaceApp Edits
  • ‘Yassified’ Edits
  • AI Voice content

Lastly, two reminders.

  1. Do not, under any circumstances, privately message a moderator for subreddit related questions. There has been a rise in users tracking down the private messages of individual moderators to demand their content be approved: if such behavior continues, doing so will result in a 24 hour ban from the forum, with the ban extended for repeat offenders.
  2. There has been a massive influx of posters claiming every single aspect of the Twilight Saga is the result of Meyer being raised in the Mormon church. Currently, we allow good faith discussions about the ways in which any religious doctrine interacts with the saga, but hundreds of posters have crossed the line in the last two months. Meyer, like any other human, is capable of having thoughts and writing them down that are not prescribed to her by her religion. The amount of vitriol spat at her in the last two months is far past the line of proprietary (and, we add, far greater, and much more personally belittling, than is doled out for any male Mormon authors, including Brandon Sanderson and Orson Scott Card). This subreddit is not the place to evangelize for any religious beliefs, including staunch atheism. If you want to discuss theology, go to r/theology, and if you wish to specifically discuss your experiences with the LDS church, visit r/exmormon or r/mormon. This has to stop, and if this community is unable to discuss religious topics in a civilized manner, they will be banned entirely until cooler heads prevail.

Information on the annual Subreddit Secret Santa will be released next week. Thank you for so thoroughly reading this notice.

All our best,

The r/Twilight Moderation Team

Book Discussion James and co should have clocked Bella immediately

I’ve read Twilight and Midnight Sun, so I am aware that Jasper was influencing them to not care or notice Bella at the baseball game encounter.

I just realized though, that shouldn’t they have immediately clocked her anyways because of her heartbeat alone? They have super hearing so it should have been immediately obvious that a human was amongst them.

Am I tripping?

Character/Relationship Discussion Bella is INSANE for this Spoiler

In the book it says they left when she was a baby.

*pause to see if you know where I’m going with this*

Soo when she has to leave and she tells Charlie the last thing her mom said before leaving.. that’s hearsay??? She wasn’t even there for the conversation, her mom must have told her at some point and then she throws it in Charlie’s face??!?

I just think that’s soo crazy and need to bring it to some twilovers attention 💗

And all my friend have grown concerned. For the past 2 days, I've lost sleep reading through 300 pages after I decided to finally sit down and go through it.

My mother loved Twilight. She used to drag my father and I to see the films back during its theatrical releases. Despite all this, I've never read into the series myself. . . until now. Sort of.

All I can say is I get it. Help me, chat. . . I'm sad that I'm halfway through it. . .

Lore Discussion What other supernatural beings are real in the universe ?

So we know werewolves are real, and vampires too (though I know some say that they're actually gargoyle and think they're vampires and that both of them are similar but both exist). What else ? I think I saw that faes exists too, and since werewolves are more taken to be a Quileute native supernatural beings, I was wondering if it meant that original legends of other cultures exist the same way ?

(Also mostly for fun cus I want to know the world better and to write my own fanfic LOL)

Character/Relationship Discussion Question about Jacob and Bella's daughter

What is Jacob's eye color when he changes? What is Bella's daughter's eye color?

I am asking because I am doing another paint by number of a girl riding a wolf. I will post a picture of it when I am finished.

Book Discussion Laughing without humor?

I feel like the characters are always "laughing without humor" or "without amusement" lmao

I've just finished my first read through of the main series and it kept making me giggle, it probably doesnt even say it that much but it just made me laugh trying to imagine someone laughing very seriously

Book Discussion Jacob’s POV in breaking dawn

I like to ask what y’all think of the Jacob’s pov in Breaking Dawn. I haven’t been much of a reader and as kid I used to watch Twilight and I don’t remember much except what the characters looked like. Last year November I started to read Twilight and I really enjoyed it, it even got me started to reading other books. Even though it was the busiest time of college I read it every day even at class. It took me the first three books to read give or take a month. But when I get to Breaking Dawn it slowed me down a lot but the Jacob’s POV aggravated the situation I couldn’t even finish a chapter without it feeling like a chore. I just finished his POV today It literally took me a year, guess it’s true you only with the good old days once they’re gone, I never realized Bella’s was what got me into Twilight and even into books. Has anyone felt like Jacob’s POV really sucked or am I in the minority here. And what do you recommend me to watch the movies or read Midnight Sun after I finished Breaking Dawn.

Meta Discussion How would the Volturi and other vampires deal with modern social media and technology?

I know the series ended with Breaking Dawn in 2008, so the world of Twilight is basically frozen in that era of technology. But time keeps moving, and my brain is always wondering how fictional worlds would adapt to modern technology.

For Twilight specifically, how do you think vampires would handle social media?

The Cullens already live among humans, so I think they'd adapt pretty quickly. I could see Carlisle embracing telemedicine and remote consultations while still practicing medicine in person when possible. I could absolutely see Emmett running a huge faceless YouTube channel where his vibes alone get him a huge following.

But the part that intrigues me most is the Volturi and how'd they react to a world that is so much more interconnected then the one they'd been a part of for millenia.

It's not just the Cullens or the Denali tribe who would use social media to help integrate themselves easier. I think vampires in general would be drawn to it for all kinds of reasons. Some would use it to connect with other vampires after centuries of wandering. Others would absolutely use it to hunt. A beautiful vampire on a dating app could lure victims almost effortlessly, never needing to truly hunt again... Basically doordash for vampires lol.

I feel like the Volturi would have to modernize their rules. The law wouldn't be "don't use social media," it would be "don't expose yourself." Don't post your face online. Don't become a celebrity. Don't go viral etc.

It's such an interesting future look at the Twilight universe that I've never really seen discussed because it's all future speculation, but it's so intriguing to me that I wonder if the rise of modern technology would completely change how the Cullens and the rest of the vamps interact with the human world.

Movie Discussion I just finished reading new moon for the first time, and then I watched the movie...

I finished new moon yesterday and I LOVED it, the book felt like multiple books in one and it was so fun to read but I watched the movie after I finished it, but I haven't seen the movie in a minute and it was so disheartening to watch and I genuinely feel like the rose colored glasses from watching the twilight movies have been ripped off, and this is dramatic but I genuinely started crying after edward and the vulturi started fighting because of how inaccurate the movie is, i cried watching the rest of the movie because of how upsetting the movie plot was and I'm still crying, they might as well be laughing in my face with this movie I mean the ending wasn't even the same and the fact that bella casually brought up that she was waiting until after graduation to become a vampire like her and edward didn't have a drawn out conversation about it when he's the one who brung it up in the first place??

And they just skipped to her being at the Cullens house and the vote, I mean the movie doesn't even feel like the same story it feels so rushed and the book was SO good I just don't get what the point of the movie was. If they weren't going to stick to the story then what was the point, Jacob didn't go off on Mike in the book and bella could barely walk after she jumped off the cliff and he left her when he thought that Alice's car was a trick from Victoria, and then he came back days later, they made him seem more honorable than he was that moment and they also left out edward bringing bella back and the fight with Charlie, he wasn't that mad in the movie, It's so upsetting and the movie will never be the same for me, they barely gave bella personality and she only stood up to edward once whereas in the book she had her own opinion multiple times among other things they left out from the book

:ftf: Forever Twilight in Forks Twilight Trip

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any travel agents or had any tips on planning a trip to Washington and Oregon. I want to take a trip up with my boyfriend next year, but I don’t have any travel experience and was hoping to find some assistance to hit all of the main movie settings and sight see. Are there Twilight travel agencies? Is the Swan’s house an AirBnB? Please let me know your experience if you’ve done this trip, especially out of Florida. Thank you!

Lore Discussion Demetri powers?

I’m quite curious I know that he’s like a tracker and I’m also pretty sure it has something to do with like stars or like constellations or something like that that’s how he can track people. This could be like a very oversimplification of his powers. But I’m quite curious how does he know if a vampire is dead like does he get like a signal that says that vampire is dead or is it like a star is not there anymore and he can’t track them so they must be dead, like how would he know. Like what his ability let him know that this vampire is dead or would it have to be like someone has to tell him yeah this guy is dead or this woman is dead? Sorry if this post doesn’t make any sense.

Plot Discussion Bella’s Uselessness In The Battle

OK, Bella stans don’t come for me cause I don’t mean she’s actually useless. It’s just for the title but I was thinking about it. I’ve watched the battle scene from breaking Dawn part two like a million times spoilers for anybody who hasn’t watched it and I thought if Bella would’ve just gone for Jane from the beginning Jasper Seth and Leah would’ve never died now of course it was a vision so it doesn’t really matter, but they should’ve had a plan. they should’ve had a plan that anybody who was coming at Bella the Cullens the wolves and all the other vampires should protect Bella so that she can get to Jane and take Jane out because she was the only person who could do it and then once that’s done they move on because if they would’ve done that if Jane was eliminated in the beginning Jasper Seth and Leah would’ve never died they just had no plan. Their plan was if we get in a fight we’ll just try to win. like what????

Actor Content Do the actors follow this community?

I wonder how many of them read things on this sub. We know from Kellen, Ashley, Peter, and Jackson, that there’s a group text they send Twilight memes and other things to each other through. So they keep up with all of the fan stuff. Surely some or all of them check out Reddit and see these posts? I’ve heard other celebrities that having nothing to do with Twilight mentioning Reddit, how they have secret accounts, some of them comment or make posts and no one knows who they are, or they just simply read, like the majority of the Reddit population.
