Discussion Anna is a BAMF
Anna has singlehandedly won me battles I had no business winning. Just a second ago I had her one against nine and pulled off the win. Seriously Anna is a cheat code.

For every character in the game, even the ones I don't care to actually use, I can at least see vision and viability behind certain characters, even the ones that aren't for me. The only exception to this is Giovanna. I get what they are going for, but every time I try to use her, the terrain doesn't match the particular role I need her for. So, what's the trick? Is she only viable on certain maps? Do I need to build my army around her? Is there some sort of trick I need to understand for her? Or am I just correct in my assessment that she's a bad unit?

I wonder if its a few things:
1) Game plays more like a puzzle rather than combat based tactics
2) Attacks are not as satisfactory in terms of visuoauditory feedback
3) Less power fantasy as there are no real solo OHKO characters, team set up is required
4) No big power spikes with upgrades

Was wondering how others felt about the hard difficulty. I tackled this game when it came out and got my shit rocked on hard, enemies are just too spongey and hit too hard. Eventually beat it after switching down to normal Now I'm replaying the game attempting hard again, and I got further than my 1st attempt, but still ended up bashing my head against a wall on the stage where you fight 2 ~spoiler~ bosses at the same time in the village protecting ~spoiler~ people Did anyone else resort to lowering difficulty part way through, and how do you sleep at night seeing the damn symbols change in Hossabara's mock battle list mocking you ToT

On NG+. I plan to fully upgrade everyone, but constantly buying out the shop's materials is getting costly. I have tons of rank 2 and 3 upgrade materials that I could sell to make some good bank, but I have no idea which ones I'm going to need for the remaining characters I'm missing from the alternate routes in chapter 15. Is there some sort of guide that can show who will need what? I can't seem to find any such guide, even on the fandom wiki. If it helps, the characters I'm currently missing are:
Milo
Travis
Cordelia
Avlora

So Aesfrost is invading Wolffort to take Roland, and I was wondering if the game actually wants me to burn down the village? Is this a sort of conviction test that will change the plot depending on what I do? And how significantly harder is this mission if I don't?

I rarely play JRPG but this game is so good, i bought it on a whim because i used to play Unicorn Overlord. For now i go for Frederica route but i heard this game has many route, so even hidden golden route. I wish it got sequel or prequel. Do you guys know any similar game?
r/TriangleStrategy • u/Dark_Brisket • 6d ago
Essentially the title but I'm very curious on what's usually people's first route. It seems like it's mainly Frederica (same one I got) but I fear it just may be my algorithm showing me that
Edit: Wanted to mention that another one of my driving factors for choosing Frederica was cause I felt the Roselles didn't deserve their treatment and the country was too war/power hungry to save (I didn't meet Svarog so I didn't know there was someone still alive that was reasonable in Aesfrost)

Hi, so i just started this game. I bought it during the steam summer sale.
How do I get the worst possible ending for Hyzante? Which is to say, the ending that causes the people of Hyzante (minus the roselle) the maximum amount of death and suffering. What steps do I need to take to go full John Brown on those slaver zealot bastards?

This is a followup to https://www.reddit.com/r/TriangleStrategy/comments/1uiogh1/just_finished_my_first_playthrough_hardmode_no/
Just finished by first NG+ play through on hard-mode with no deaths. I ended the run with every character except for Cordelia, Milo, and Avlora.
Hit 50 on my most used characters, farmed enough superior materials to have the most important weapon skills. Saved and reset to try out the rest.
After starting my third run, I realized I would need a 5th run to 100% the game because I missed a cat on the Wolffort Harbor and had already done both of those paths :( I now wish I actually used a more detailed guide.
My strategy has remained largely the same with some slight tweaks. I'm still turtling, waiting for the enemy boss to come in before using missed opportunity on them and nuking them down. But, since enemy mages are now nuclear weapons, I've had to find ways to kill them first.
Serenoa. Still required. Still a solid front-line damage dealer. I had the Jade Thumb Ring on him the entire 1st run and he was a lot better after swapping to Resurrection Earring. Weapon skill helped him still be useful on hard turtling maps as a TP battery.
Medina. Still OP. I actually started running low on Ranged Recovery Pellets and needed to farm them.
Corentin. Still OP. Damage falls off a bit but his terrain control is still busted.
Hughette. Still the defensive backbone of my party with her CC. I thought Shooting Star was actually a great addition to her kit, gave her real damage, and allowed her to snipe mages in combination with Archibald.
Maxwell. After using him briefly in my first run, I thought he was a really well-rounded front-line fighter. He became my go-to melee option. He's basically a better Serenoa. Traverse is just super useful for covering distance and positioning. With Revive, you can overextend to kill important targets and still get out alive. High Jump was also strong, but it just feels like he uses so much TP normally that you rarely save up enough for it.
Archibald. In my first run, I said it felt like I had enough damage and that Archibald lacked utility. Turns out he's fantastic for sniping mages with Now, In-tandem, or support from Hughette. Enemy mages were dropping nukes on me so they became priority target #1 in my NG+ run and thus Archibald became a staple.
Frederica. Still a great ranged damage dealer.
Geela. Still felt mandatory at times because of the amount of damage enemies deal in hard-mode. I'm not sure if this is bugged, but I also thought it was kind of broken how Miraculous Light doesn't get reset by Reverse Space-Time.
Benedict. I thought he'd fall off once you get a stronger party, but the flexibility to Now and Two-fold Turn based on the situation actually kept him as a staple. I also didn't feel like there were enough super strong characters to push him out. Being able to Dragon Shield your entire party on maps where you can hard turtle on a no-death run was also great insurance since squishier targets were getting almost 1-shot.
Narve. Still really versatile. The big difference was added range really is great and made him someone I was always happy to deploy. I was routinely happily surprised by how far he could hit stuff from. I thought his weapon skill was completely useless, though.
Quahaug. This might be a hot take, but I thought he was just very situationally strong, not broken. Maybe I'm just not good enough at the game, but his speed made Reverse Space-Time hard to use at times since he'd act again before I had the chance to kill enemy units and essentially reset his snap-shot. TBH, I regret giving him his speed upgrades. I thought Reverse Space-Time was best on maps where you can kill a good number of enemy units from your starting position and that's not every map. But, after reading about how broken Reverse Space-Time was, I was actually surprised with how useful the rest of his kit is. Warped Space is a game changer on certain maps and giving units essentially double move while ignoring terrain is just strong. Time Compression is enough of a speed steroid to actually alter turn order. Turn Back Time was a good emergency heal. Distorted Space has a lot of niche uses.
Julio. Medina was still just better for general use. But, he's still useful because of Quahaug.
Roland. He really gets a lot better with Resurrection Earring. Like Maxwell, the effect allows him to actually survive diving in to deal damage and that's really his main use. He isn't a staple only because it felt like I had enough damage. But, on the maps where he is required, I was never sad about bringing him.
Erador. King's Shield is great but I just didn't need a tank that often. He was useful on some smaller maps like the Sorsley trial where you can warp him into a spot to tag multiple important units with Provoke or King's Shield.
Ezana. She was great for hard turtling maps in my first play through, but it felt like Rite of Thunderstorms just doesn't have enough accuracy. She's still great for paralyzing targets but if enemies are in that range, they're probably dead before they act again.
Rudolph. Generally, I didn't think his CC was cheap/consistent enough and he didn't deal enough damage or have enough range. Purely as an archer, he's just mediocre and Hughette or Archibald are better. But, I deployed Rudolph in a duo with Jens on certain maps to completely lock-down terrain. It felt like Rudolph or Jens alone was rarely enough but the two of them together could completely seal off a 2-3 space choke point against even an entire enemy team.
Jens. Individually, I just didn't think he had enough utility to make up for his lack of damage. But, on certain maps in a duo with Rudolph, he was great.
Lionel. Only used him briefly to try out Golden Opportunity. He's clearly quite strong but I just didn't have 6k+ gold to burn on every Golden Opportunity. I guess he'll have to wait until my third run.
Anna. I don't get it at all. She seems really mediocre outside of her mobility and flanking power. She can do a lot of things, but she just doesn't have the TP for it all so you end up just be mediocre. She needs Deadly Blaze or a good follow-up partner to deal good damage but if you spend 4 TP, she can't Take Cover for survivability until next, next turn unless you started with 5 TP. Slumber Strike has like a 60% sleep rate so sometimes you need to spend 4 TP to get it to hit and won't have TP for Take Cover or Deadly Blaze. She desperately needed some type of TP recovery mechanic. Because she can only do one thing at a time, it just felt like I was better off deploying characters who actually did those things better.
Decimal. I actually thought he was really strong on certain maps where you can consistently hit 4+ targets for multiple turns. If it wasn't for how inhibitive his TP generation is for the reward, I'd have used him a lot more. It just didn't feel like it was worth it compared to the alternatives.
Trish. Leap really needed to work like Traverse. If it did, she'd be great as the more damage oriented mobility archer vs. Hughette being the CC oriented mobility archer.
Groma. I actually really liked her despite people saying she's quite weak. I used her more as a mid-range fighter than as an evasion tank. Her ability to slip through enemies for better flank positions pairs well with the range and angles Energy Wave gives her. The issue is just that a lot of her skill budget is wasted on evasion tanking and she ends up not having enough damage.
Flanagan. Not as good as Erador at tanking and Rampart just felt really unnecessary.
Travis. He's basically a worse Serenoa. It just felt like with how niche melee are that it's hard to justify deploying him over Serenoa and Maxwell.
Hossabara. Still just too squishy to front-line and other healers can do so safely. Catapult is useful, though. It's just not enough.
Piccoletta. I used her a bit more this run but it just doesn't feel like she does enough outside of Decoy -- especially since hard-mode enemies kill the Decoy in like 2 hits.
Giovanna. Just way too hard to use for the reward.

On the last chapter of my first playthrough and picking the Freddi path. Then I'm planning on watching h the Benny and Rolly paths online then finally golden route on NG easy mode

A while back, I posted asking for help with fighting Lyla during Frederika's ending route. After lots of attempts and a sizeable amount of luck, I finally pulled it off. Then, after a fairly easy battle with Kamsell, I figured I was finally over the hill. Now, here I am at the final battle. Complete terrain disadvantage, against another overpowered mage backed by healers and an army that decided to apparently fully invest in dodge builds, and this time I can't even form a solid wall because I need to make half my army mounteds so the Roselle don't get slaughtered. Did I pick the worst starting choice? Should I have gone with Benedict or Roland after all?
Also, any advice on this battle would be helpful. If you've seen my last post, there have been no roster changes since then.
Edit: Finally pulled it off. Thanks for the tips about ignoring the Roselle and focusing Idore. Still felt no more satisfying than the win against Lyla, though.

So I'm in chapter 7 at the council ( spoiler up to this point so ).
On the book of the war, it's said that house wolffort and hyzante were allies during the salt and iron war.Okay cool,it change a lot of things, it seem more reasonable to abandon the prince, even if he is the friend of the MC, 30 years with the kingdom is short,it's understandable that the subject is up to debate.
But then in the council erador say the the wolffort house supported the thrones for générations?!
It really change a lot things , and it kind of throw me of that the narrative is not coherent.

Going through my first playthrough and chose to follow Frederika's ending first. But I feel softlocked trying to fight Lyla and her insane spells. Her units are too far away for me to hope for an aggressive push to scatter them. If I don't target her rogues first, then they keep double backstabbing my key units to death, and if I do target them first, her and her mages bombard my key units with spells. Meanwhile, her healers somehow always find a way to stay just out of range of everyone while also just close enough to keep her front line alive. In short, it feels like every time I try to focus on one problem, all the other problems dogpile me at once, and if I try to handle all of them, I stop none of them. I could use some advice.
My story units:
Corentin
Trish
-As this is a NG playthrough, I don't have access to any of the other story units from chapters 3 and 15.
Missing optional units (if any of these are vital to the strategy, please advise me on how to farm their conviction requirements):
Decimal
Quahog
Giovanna
Edit: Finally pulled it off. It was neither fun nor satisfying. Just glad it's over.

Long story short, I’ve been grinding 100% on this game for awhile now, but I bought all of the Curious Feathers from Archibald and then promptly sold them to farm Utility before realizing I would need one to max out Travis’ final weapon. Does the Sundry Shop restock Curious Feathers, and if so, when? I really don’t want to have to beat the game a 5th time to get just one feather… but I will if I must. I’ve done everything in the game except this. I’ve searched around Google but nothing has come up except for the AI overview telling me it restocks every chapter… so does anyone have an actual answer?

I'm up to about chapter 10, and it feels like most of my army is not designed to take a hit. The majority of my units are supports, indirects, mages, summoners, or flankers/cavalry. So far, the only two I feel like I can trust to be the front line of my army are Seranoa and Erador. And I checked, I'm only missing 5 characters left, and only one seems built for this. Three frontline fighters in my whole army doesn't seem right, so what am I missing?
Edit: I misread the wiki where I checked who I was missing. I didn't look at the tab of characters that fall under spoilers. So I am currently missing all of them as well as 5 optional recruits.

Why is "meeting your father" the Morality option? Don't you basically foist both the Glenbrook corruption and Roselle Village problems to other people, just to visit your father? Wouldn't protecting the Roselle Village be more 'moral'?

Just finished my first play through on hard mode run with no deaths. I ended the game with all the characters but the route specific ones I didn't take and the 1600 conviction characters.
I used a guide for the exploration stuff and branching story portions of the play through but avoided strategies and character tier lists.
My strategy on most maps was to play defensively, turtle, pick off enemies, and then when the boss comes in, missed opportunity them to lock them down, and then just nuke them down before they can act again with delays strikes to give me more time.
I didn't get Rudolph, Milo, Travis, Cordelia, Avlora and the 1600 characters.
I think for a first play through, my most used characters and priority upgrade characters were --
Serenoa, since he's required for the fights. That said, I thought he was a good damage dealer and Delay Strike was great for delaying boss actions especially if you can spam it with more actions.
Medina. She's basically a better Julio + a better Geela in a single character. I did the requisite amount of grinding to always be a bit higher than the recommended levels on average so I had enough money to fund her.
Corentin. Along with Medina, probably my strongest character in my first play through. TP on Ice + Glacial Moon + TP recovery from Medina + Julio + the fact that frozen ground reduces move was just too powerful -- especially on defensive maps.
Hughette. Her ability to CC with blind and immobilize are just too important. She's basically the defensive backbone of the team. If this was a proverbial basketball team, she would be the paint anchoring shot blocker.
Frederica. She's was my best pure ranged damage dealer.
Geela just because I needed the healing in hard-mode. But, honestly, it was less that I wanted to bring her along and more that I had to. I did not get Cordelia and would've preferred the immediate upfront healing anyways.
Benedict. I get the feeling he'd fall off hard once you get more powerful characters but before you can deploy a full team of monsters, his ability to give extra turns to your stronger characters was great. Outside of that, the added mobility and bulwark were also situationally useful.
Anna. Honestly, a lot of people call her strong but she was just okay to me. Her main value was in a duo with Serenoa to set up follow-up attacks. Without follow-up attacks, her damage was just okay. Her CC also just isn't that practical. Ironically, she actually felt the strongest as an item spammer due to her double actions.
Those were my staples.
The rest were brought situationally.
Narve. I thought the main strength was his versatility. On some maps where it really felt like I needed a third healer but really didn't want to bring one, he was a good compromise. His magic defense debuff and ability to freeze terrain also works well with Corentin.
Ezana. She excels on slow maps where you can turtle. With TP support + turn manipulation you can just spam her weapon skill. Also has good synergy with Corentin due to all of the frozen terrain lowering movement.
Julio. Medina is just better, Medina + Benedict + Julio + Geela was too much support to me and the party lacked either front line or damage. But, since I picked Frederica's ending, he was great down the stretch.
Erador. Honestly, he's a great tank but wasn't necessary on a lot of maps. Between Hughette's CC, Corentin's ground freezing, Serenoa's delay strike, etc., I had so many ways of playing defensively.
As for the other characters --
Roland. I actually think he's a good diving damage dealer and even a good ranged damage dealer when he gets flash of steel if you can position him in your TP recovery formation. It just felt like I had enough damage without him.
Hossabara. Narve was just a better supporting third healer.
Jens. Was great at delaying and setting up terrain to turtle but was irrelevant once Corentin got Glacial Moon.
Piccoletta. Shes a good item spammer but it just felt like she didn't do enough.
Lionel. I've read that he's a late-game character. I'll probably try him out on NG+.
Archibald. Again, I felt like I had enough damage. He needed more utility like Hughette.
Trish. Basically the same as Archibald. She needed more utility.
Flanagan. I liked his mobility as a tank but he just doesn't have enough CC.
Maxwell. Only used him briefly. Felt like he was a really versatile damage dealer just didn't have enough top-end damage. Maybe that'll change with more upgrades in NG+.
Milo. I didn't recruit her, but based on her guest appearance, she felt a lot like Maxwell.
Groma. I really didn't use her much.
Anything or anyone on NG+ I should give a try?
r/TriangleStrategy • u/CheeseBiscuit7 • 23d ago
First playthrough, barely scratched the game's surface, first time playing a strategy RPG, going on Easy just to get a feel of it.
Do I follow a guide? Do I play blindly? Is there something I should know? How long is first playthrough? Is NG+ any faster? Conviction mechanic seems interesting, should I be min maxing it on the first run? Does it carry over to new playthroughs? Is it possible/viable to unlock everything in one/first run?
