Love & Dating Am i being insecure about GF posting edits?
I (22M) started dating a friend of mine (21F). When we were just friends, she would post edits of football players, actors, singers, or fictional characters she found attractive. At the time, I didn't think too much about it because I felt it was fairly normal for girls our age to do that, and I assumed it would stop once we started dating.
A few months ago, she posted an edit of a football player she didn't even know (I know this because she doesn't watch football), and it made me feel bad. I don't consider myself insecure about this kind of thing because I think it's normal for everyone to find celebrities or even regular people attractive, as long as they don't act on those feelings. What I can't understand is why someone would feel the need to post a video whose only purpose is to show how good-looking another person is.
So I talked to her about it. I told her how I felt and asked why she had posted it. She said it was because she liked the edit and thought the player looked good, but she understood how I felt and deleted it.
Yesterday, she asked me if I was okay with her posting an edit of one of our national team's football players. I wasn't completely sure how I felt about it, but I told her I had no problem with it because I thought maybe she liked how he had played during the World Cup. It turned out to be just an edit of him smiling and looking attractive. I didn't like it, but since I had already told her I was okay with it, I let it go.
Later that day, a friend of mine said, "Hey, why is she posting edits of other guys?" That made me feel like my point of view was more valid because it meant I wasn't the only person who found it strange.
The topic came up again, and she asked me what kinds of edits she could post, mentioning people like Jacob Elordi, Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson, and another football player she explicitly said she thought was cute. After talking about it for a while, I told her she's free to post whatever she wants on her social media. She told me she didn't want me to say I was okay with it just to avoid an argument, and I told her that wasn't the case and that she didn't need to worry about it.
Am I wrong for feeling this way? On one hand, I know she loves me, and I know it's just a video. I'm not worried about her leaving me or anything like that. On the other hand, I just can't understand why someone in a relationship would want to publicly post edits of people they find attractive. I wouldn't post videos of girls I think are hot because I would see that as disrespectful to my girlfriend. To me, what she does feels disrespectful, even if that's not her intention.
What do you think?
