Days like today are what sick days/PTO are made for.
It took half the summer but some fun swell finally showed up in Jersey.

But, first, use the search function. There is a 99.9% chance that your question has been asked and answered multiple times.
Or you can use /r/BeginnerSurfers all week long.
Beginner questions will be removed with no notice. Because it's just too much damn effort to deal with every single post, individually.
Pissy mod messages will earn you a ban.
Surfers are the worst and we mods are no exception.
EDIT: If we leave up your question and you delete your post after getting an answer you WILL be banned.
This sub is not your personal Quora. If people take the time to answer your question you're required to leave it up so it remains searchable and so that others can learn, as well.
EDIT2: Here are the subreddit rules.

Hey just curious, juat at a snapshot which board people thinks looks better?
One has more foam than the other One of them feels like it takes way too much effort to release the tail
And one probably needs different fins
Not the best surfing in these clips but trying to decide between which one to bail on and which one to keep
Im already leaning towards one of them

I'm a carpenter and I'm lucky enough to have the flexibility to surf before work if I want. I'm currently 32 and probably do this about twice a week but I find on the days I surf for the rest of the day I'm just super tired and can't really be as productive as I should be. I eat well and get okay sleep but I'm worried as I get older it'll just get too hard to do this. Do any other blue collar surfers have any advice?

Most people know the Falklands/Malvinas as a flashpoint, a war, a sovereignty dispute, a talking point that resurfaces every time Argentina and England share a headline (like right now with the World Cup).
What most people don't know is that there's a small surf scene out there, and in 2018 two Argentine surf-filmmaker brothers (JoaquÃn and Julián Azulay, aka Gauchos del Mar) went to find it.
The result is Transcending Waves - they track down two local Falkland Islander brothers, also surfers, also born after the '82 war, and just... go surf together. It's not a political film, but it can't help being one as the tension is right there under the surface the whole time.
Given everything going on right now between the two countries, it felt like a good moment to bring this one up. Enjoy!

Hey everyone,
My board got smashed during a flight and now it looks like this. Is there any hope of repairing it, or is it done for?
The bottom of the board looks completely fine, but based on these photos, do you think it's snapped internally? I'm comfortable doing the repair myself if it's fixable, but I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with similar damage before and how it turned out.
Thanks!

Yesterday I had the joy of helping a bunch of kids surf for the first time.
What an eye opening experience that was. We may as well have just handed these kids a bunch of vapes. Getting the first 2-3 waves as a kid must be absolute dopamine overload.
We had them in the water for a few hours and they were running themselves ragged dragging their boards back/getting pummeled just trying to get to the outside for just One. More. Hit.
It's like we created a bunch of little addicts.

Just got a new board. Put my fins in, and took them out. I noticed this hairline ‘crack’ inside the finbox. (Corner) or it could be the paint from the fins too (see pic 3 sides of finbox theres paint as well) i tried wiping it down but none of the ‘crack’ or side paint wipes off. What can i do incase?

Recently ive been riding my buddy's classic 5 11 fish. Yesterday took it out in double overhead surf, and I was a bit undergunned. Thing is, I dig the fishy magic of the board. I'm 6' 200 lbs, been surfing for 15 years, and I'm honestly aging into midlengths. Anyway, my question is, what size does a fish starts to lose its qualities that make it so fishy? how big of a fish can I go without the board starting to lose that skatiness? Looseness, and speed are the qualities that define it for me I suppose

Buying some new boards now that I've progressed a bit, and I'm a big John John Florence fan. A friend gave me some stickers for the new boards, and I'd like to throw them on, but I don't want to look like a kook trying to look sponsored. The stickers are:
For context, I'm not sponsored by any of them. I just genuinely like the brands and have some connection to them. Would this come across as normal, or would it look like I'm trying too hard?

Had a great day here with a longboard one day great long cruiser waves.
Have been out on other days here when the conditions are said to be good online but it was really poor and no surfers out.
In what conditions is this break working best ?
Any other recommendations for longboard waves in Victoria?

I’m a late comer to the sport and skills continuing to progress. Based in Bay Area. 5’11 / 175. Surf OB, HMB, LM, SC etc
Current boards:
Pyzel white tiger - 5’7 / 31.7L
Lost little wing -6’0 / 32L
Pyzel shadow - 6’1 / 30.7L
Thinking of selling the white tiger and/or little wing. Have been using both for past year+. Have cycled through some fishy boards as well.
Would love a performance fish for smaller days and a DD HPSB. Looking at sub driver or JS monsta / similar for DD. Maybe shadow could even fill that purpose? Idk latest small wave models - open to all ideas

Question in title. Probably gonna paddle out there this afternoon and find out myself, but curious to hear other people's thoughts.
For context, I've been surfing at diamond head a lot since moving to the island earlier this year, as it's a reasonable drive from where I live. I've surfed out there when it's 5-8 feet, and it was a little scary but I managed to drop in on a few.
I've been curious about Tongg's and Old Man's because, based on the map, they look like they'd handle trade winds a bit better than DH does. On a bigger day, what is the character of the waves? Similar to Cliffs? Mellower? Scarier?

Pretty amateur photographer, but tried to capture a few shots last year before moving away from the ocean. The thing I miss most, besides good waves, is the different moods and little moments while surfing.
