Pact Worlds and Beyond I love the Vulkarisu already

Part squirrel. Part fox. All alien. All CUTE.

New to the player's guide for Beyond The Blood Door, the vulkarisu are experts at linguistics, contracts, and burying things for later (no seriously, they get feats about being good at burying things for later!). But they're not all cute tho.. Their penchant for contracts has even lead to a non-zero amount who have demonic contract bad guy influence!

(And they also say that they have "poor boundaries between friends and family", so take a shot for the obligatory Starfinder 2e Found Family Drinking Game)

Homebrew Fangblade deity and warhammer

So now that we have a deity with a fangblade it gave me the idea of going full warhammer 40k. The real question would be how to fill in the gaps with what we have in sf2.

Notably power armor I think is the main thing missing

Also classes may be a bit challenging

Discussion Other Digital Fey

So, we all know about Gremlins and how they love messing with technology. Not all are digital, but several are... which makes me wonder what other types of digital fey we could get in Starfinder.

One idea that's stuck in my mind for a while is a polygonal fey. I like the name of "Polymock." Embodying how the First World was somewhat of a rough draft, or perhaps a beta, of the Universe, these sharp-edged fey look similar to characters from games with early three-dimensional graphics. Upon finding digital media, data logs describing incidents, or other similar things, they begin constructing their blocky version of it in physical space. This, of course, attracts the attention of gremlins who would love nothing more than to destroy or corrupt what they build.

Between builders and destroyers, though, are those trying to take something for themselves. Everybody has seen the scams. "Princes" contacting people via email, insurance companies asking about your hovercar, and those giveaways that you (yes, YOU!) have won... as long as you pull out your card and tell them about those wacky numbers. Unfortunately, these phisher fey are going to be after more than just your bank account. They're the future of those rumored fey that ask for your name before scampering off as you forget who you are after introducing yourself. Names, ideas, art, magic... they'll try to take it away from you if you make the mistake of hovering your cursor over them.

What about y'all? What do you think could be some interesting digital fey that we could have other than gremlins?

Discussion Are Ancestries supposed to have Rarity?

I was flipping through the Absolom book and there's 2 new ancestries in there, but they have rarity traits (one rare, one uncommon). As far as I know there's not a single other ancestry in SF2e to have a rarity trait, while every non-PC1 ancestry in PF2e has a rarity. Even Ancestries from SF2e adventure paths don't have them. Is this a mistake?

Advice Help building John wick

I have just realized I've been misreading the striker operative, I thought they traded their gun proficiency for melee, but it's only martial. I know the meta is sniper and it's boring but highly effective.

However, with their mobility and reactive options this seems like the best time to build a switch hitter someone who is a menace with ranged weapons and really good in close quarters as well.

I have wanted to build a character like this for a long time and this finally seems to be the system to make it happen. I have a GotGW campaign in the future. I just am not familiar enough with the range of options available to make confident choices in this system.

Flavor wise I really like the idea of someone who avoids tech weapons (though the revolver option is sadly not a simple weapon) but I'm willing to alter that as the character is a barely formed thought at this point.

With the reactive step feature I thought gap-touched for the teleporting steps would be really good (or just fun) as well.

We plan to include Pathfinder2e content. So options like martial artist are available at level 2. But while I'm more familiar with the pf2e options this is such a wide variety now that I have a bit of analysis paralysis.

TLDR; need direction more than solutions, Pathfinder content available. Want to build a striker switch hitter. Please leave any ancestry, archetype, equipment and general gameplay options, tips and tricks you have so I can narrow down the plethora of available goodies

Promotion Tabletop Gold's Starfinder 2E actual play Roughnexx is back with episode 17, and things have gotten a lot colder

Hi! I'm Lars, GM / host of the Tabletop Gold podcast. Episode 17 of Roughnexx, our ongoing Starfinder 2E show, just dropped, and it's a big turning point in the story.

We are playing the twisty and surprising Murder in Metal City adventure, and after weeks of thorny urban investigation, the crew is delving into new territory that will be a struggle just to survive. I don't want to spoil the specifics for those of you who are unfamiliar with the adventure, but we are having a blast with the turns this narrative is taking in the final chapter.

If you've been curious about Roughnexx, now is a great time to start from episode one before we wrap up Murder in Metal City. Fully edited video on YouTube and Spotify, and audio wherever you listen. tabletopgold.com

Resource & Tools Starfinder 2e support on Foundry

I am a budding GM who wants to host a campaign of Tales From The Vast. Due to the hours of the local games shop, I realized that I would need to use a VTT to have the campaign. Bought the license, only to find the only adventure modules Foundry has is Murder In Metal City and Guilt of the Grave World.

I know things are in a wierd place with Paizo transitioning from Diamond Comics to a new publisher, I was just wondering if the community here knew if future Foundry support is in the works, or if I need to try to get a refund and move to a different virtual table top service

Hi Everyone,
Hephaistos is an online digital toolset for Starfinder (both 1E and 2E). The Starfinder 1E version has been actively developed and maintained for the last five years. Hephaistos for Starfinder 2E, or just Hephaistos 2E for short, is built from the ground up to support the second edition of the game. The website has a new release every fortnight, and today Hephaistos 2E has been updated with the following improvements and fixes:

  • Added Sorcerer class from PF Player Core 2.
  • Additional selections for class spells can now be added.
  • Homebrew items can now have storage properties so they can be used as containers.
  • Qualification is now correctly calculated for feats that required proficiency in any Lore skill.
  • Fixed feat Cat Fall not showing when Pathfinder content is disabled.

Advice Playing a Soldier in a pirate themed campaign

I'm going to be playing a Dragonkin Soldier in a Pathfinder campaign using a reflavored Stellar Cannon. We are using Free Archetype, with access to *every* Pathfinder dedication, what should I choose? So far I'm considering Guardian for more HP and maneuvers, and Ranger for more Range and Reload synergy. Any Dedications that would work well for a Pirate Soldier?

Player Builds Build suggestions for a Novian character

Hey guys, I recently started looking at character ideas for an upcoming Starfinder 2e campaign. When looking over the ancestries I fell *completely* in love with the Novians and I want to play one super badly. My immediate thinking was a Solarian could be pretty fun and thematic to play, but I'm a bit worried that the 20ft speed of the Novian might make it a little rough playing a melee character (also heard that Solarian is kinda... clunky?).

Do you guys have any suggestions for other cool combos that could work well with a Novian? I'm open to both PF2e and SF2e classes.

In advance, thanks so much for the suggestions <3

Discussion Just noticed Starbuilder2e was added to my Pathbuilder2e app!

I didn't do anything to add it, so guessing this is the official release. Looks like it has the option to use Pathbuilder2e content in Starbuilder2e. Got to run, I got a new toy to play with...

Greetings, tis I the localish lore fiend, I’ve posted about Lost Omens/other lore updates in Pathfinder 2E for a while so figured I’d bring my archivist skills here, for those curious about the lore but can’t afford the book or uh… well won’t due to recent events.

Of note, I am a lore guy, not a rule guy, so this is pure story stuff. Hope y’all enjoy.

Content Drift Happens is the best Starfinder podcast nobody knows about.

I've been listening to Drift Happens for months now, and I'm shocked it doesn't have a larger audience. The hosts are very pleasant to listen to, are clearly good friends in real life, and follow the tried-and-true Dollop/BtB/Knowledge Fight format of one expert host and one who's there to learn.

The podcast primarily focuses on lore, but occasionally covers SF2 mechanics and adventure reviews. It's a great entry point for people who want to learn more about the game and its setting but don't enjoy actual plays.

You can find their YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@DriftHappensASP

Spotify link here: https://open.spotify.com/show/2rh3lOKIW6fAZ38o6VK4mT

(This is not a paid promotion; I just really like these guys and want to give them a shoutout.)

Of the 6 released (and 3 playtest) classes, which is your favorite? Which do you think is strongest and which so you think has the best design?

Advice Is flight TOO common in the game?

My examples of what I saw are from the adventure, Guilt of the Grave World. I think my post is understandable without unspoiling, just lacking examples.

Of course in a game with full auto guns, flight in combat has only so many protections (though an enemy with only melee is certainly at a 100% disadvantage). But recently in GotGW I noticed that there was a lot of exploration trivialized. Not all certainly, but a large minority. A Chase and Overland travel had enough opportunities for flying PC's players to say "we fly" and no rolls required. I am not the GM, I am a player, but even so my GM brain is saying, "this is why PF2e makes infinite flight so hard to get."

The rat nest blocks your path - "We fly"

"You come to a cliff!" - "We fly"

"The ground gives way underneath you" - "We Fly"

"The enemy has caught up (in the Chase)!" - "We Fly" (To this one the GM put a foot down and said the enemy included fliers)

And at least one other, but I admit I forgot.

Is it not problematic that flight is so powerful as early as level one? I know its not fast but its reliable. More reliable than a Solarion climbing in the early levels. Isn't it a little sad that creative solutions are "We Fly"? I just got the feeling there needs to be more downward winds the next time there is a cliff or ground collapse.

I guess now I want to know how you all would change this? Should a GM have to add more complexity to exploration encounters? I feel like this is the kind of thing "Uncommon" existed for in PF2e. To soften a blow when a GM tells you "no" because something about this is a bad fit for an adventure.

Edit: Missed a spoiler.

PS Unrelated diatribe and big even if early spoilers for GotGW Did they really give the Amaranth one gun which only does Void? To target a non-living spaceship? On Foundry its clearly going to mark that as 0 damage which I had to insist the GM just change the damage type because there is 0% chance that is intended. Not everything undead needs to be Void. Its okay if they shoot a laser at us...

Advice Solarian in a PF2e game.

Our current game is getting close to wrapping up and knowing that SF2e is pretty compatible with PF2e our DM said he is willing to try allowing SF2 classes in the next game. I love the Solarian class fantasy and I want to try it in the game but I wanted to ask from a mechanical standpoint if anyone has any experience with them in PF games and how it worked out? I don't want to play it if there are obvious over or under powered issues that will just cause problems for my DM.

Advice Rogue in SF2e

Yes, I know Operative exists right there. 😅

I like the skill increase + skill feats of the Rogue. It fits the concept of someone Gap-Touched (I know for certain I want to play this heritage, not sure which ancestry yet) who has had to take self sufficiency to an extreme, because they never know when they'll be able to interact with people reliably.

Considering Mastermind or Thief in a game that runs from levels 2 - 17.

What skills would you recommend focusing on to raise first beyond Trained?

Advice Gunners during Cinematic Spaceship Scenes

Do Gunners during the Cinematic Spaceship Scenes do any rolls besides damage? Is it just an automatic hit no matter what? I can't find anything about it on AoN or the GM Core. Gods, I can't wait for tactical to come in October. These scenes are cool, but my players love the crunch of the system.

Resource & Tools Character sheets w/ better inventory?

Is anyone aware of character sheets that have good player inventory sheets? I really don't care for the inventory sections on the official character sheets, there's hardly any room and the bulk porttion in particular I think is bad.

Resource & Tools One last reminder about ENNIEs voting from SF2e on Foundry

Hello all!

If you missed it, the Pathfinder/Starfinder 2e systems for FVTT were nominated for an ENNIE award this year, and we would really appreciate your vote!

But we're not the only Paizo fan project in the running. The Golarion Mapping Project is also up for an award and Jessica Redekop is in the running as a judge next year! Paizo themselves were also nominated for Best Monster for Alien Core.

Voting ends July 19th (aka, tomorrow when I'm posting this), and we really appreciate the support. You don't have to have an account to vote, and you will get a chance to see some other great RPG products with a lot of creativity and effort behind them.

And while I have your attention I also want to remind people that the people laid off from Paizo are having a hard time making ends meet. Normally I would encourage people to donate to Extra Life or a local animal shelter or food pantry, but if you have a spare $5 or $10 consider helping out those affected by the Paizo layoffs, like Ivis.

And finally I'll mention that we're well on track to have both Impossible Magic and Absalom Station out on Foundry day of the book release!

Edit: We're in the Digital Aid/Accessory category. The Golarion Mapping Project is in Online Content. Paizo is in for both Publisher and Best Monster.

Homebrew How would the Green Devil be built?

The Green Devil is a Boss in Megaman.

Its ability is that its body is immune to damage until you blast away enough of the Green Gel to actually get to the Core.

How could this be done?

I would assume a form of Temp HP that constantly regens.
