I went to Cloud Walking for the first time today and saw a list of events this month, do those typically have big turn outs? I’m thinking about going this Friday, but, I don’t want to go if I’ll be one of few.

South Bend Looking for a new apartment/house

Hi everyone! I am currently in the search for a new apartment/house in South Bend. My current apartment (Indian Lakes) has raised the rent and now I cannot afford it🫠

I’m a single female with two cats and would like to find a place in a safe neighborhood and would like to pay no more than $1400 a month (rent & utilities included).

Please let me know if you know of any neighborhoods in the South Bend area I can look at or of anyone who is renting out a place!

Northern Edge development (Notre Dame)

Does anyone know if the Northern Edge development (North of Notre Dame) is still going to happen? There hasn't been any recent news about it and originally they said they hoped to break ground by the end of 2024.

To the guy who stole my motorcycle but was too lazy to push it- hey jackoff you could have at least pushed my bike back to my house instead of dumping it at my neighbors house down the block. Also you owe me a new center screen and a new ignition. Also I have your drill bit you 2 bit junkie dipshit. Also I hope you know you wasted all that time and energy on a bike that doesn’t even run 😂😂 the parts are in my house to fix it

Super chill meet up tonight!! All wheels welcome - we cruise around Mishawaka and end with a bonfire & after hang :)

If you've never joined a Michiana Quads meet up before, we are a roller skating group but we are open to wheels of all types (and often have more bikes than skates on the trail/street skates). It's a great way to meet new friends and explore the area while getting a lil excersice!

See y'all out there!!

More info on meet ups can be found on insta: michianaquads

What's with the light at Indian Springs Apts on Portage Ave

And why am I always stopped and waiting at a red when there's absolutely no traffic coming in or out of the apartment complex. There's certainly no vehicles coming in or out of defunct Portage Manor, which is the other side of that cross intersection. I don't know if anyone else drives that way often, but to me it seems like the light pattern has significantly changed somewhat recently. I called 311 and asked if they'd look into it, but I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed this?

Mishawaka Travelling next week, what do you do with your cats?

Hi everyone! My boyfriend and I will be out of town for a few days next week, and we’re looking for some advice.
We have two 8 month old kittens, and this will be the first time we’ve ever left them alone. They’re bonded, healthy, and pretty independent, but we’re still a little nervous since we’ve never been away from them before.

Would you recommend hiring a cat sitter to stop by once or twice a day, or is there another option that’s worked well for you? If anyone has recommendations for reliable cat sitters or pet sitting services in the area, I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance!

I explored the foot made pathway right by my house and it's just. I think I figured out why people like to hike. I don't want to go back home yet and the trail becomes too vegetated up ahead. But this is the last little Outlook before that.

I found plenty of little outcoves including this pipe area (last few photos)

I'll upload this and then sit here for a minute and return home I think but South bend is beautiful. I will return to this trail tomorrow.

Starting a hiking/outdoors club

I’m wondering if there would be any interest in joining a hiking/outdoors club for people in SB and surrounding areas. I’ve seen a few existing facebook groups but they don’t always seem to be super active.

Anyone would be welcome to join but I am specifically wondering if there are any POC and women who have an interest. People who are underrepresented in outdoors spaces, who may have an interest but don’t know how/where to start.

We could start by meeting once or twice a month, based on interest. Hiking is a given but could be anything outdoors. Kayaking, trail running, walking, I’ve been rock wall climbing a few times.

Update—

Looks like there is enough interest for a Facebook group! I created an group called Trail Mix Hiking Clurb. I’ll make a post later today about a potential first meet up:)

Instagram - TrailMixHikingClurb

LAST UPDATE — all further info will be shared on FB/Insta

First meetup is scheduled this Saturday, July 25th at Potato Creek State Park @10am

Please being water, snacks, and good walking shoes. I will bring bug spray and sunscreen.

There is a $7 entrance fee per vehicle.

Let’s meet in the park office parking lot, first building on the right hand side after entering the park. The park office is BEFORE the pay gate to actually enter the park.

South Bend Moving from Florida!

Hi everyone! Me and my partner will be moving to South Bend soon and we are so so excited for a change in scenery. Our current living situation has been difficult so being able to move somewhere completely different is the change we need.

I’d love if y’all could drop some tips and recommendations for us in the comments to add to our excitement! I have already done some of my own research about the place but I’d love to hear more from people who already live there. I’d love to know more about nature-centered activities, cute lil shops (especially bookstores!), local coffee spots, and if there are any decent farmers markets.

Also, would it be worth it to bring our inflatable paddleboards? And does anybody know the best way to find affordable furniture?

Thanks so much in advance!

In 1889, the Pan-American Congress came to the United States, and it was the most significant international delegation the nation had ever seen. Out of all the places they could have visited, they chose South Bend.
