hey im 16 (M) and today i was framed by a scammer. I had been followed by a TikTok and insta account and they seemed like an obvious ai chat bot. I thought it would be funny to see how far this bot would go so me, being the dumbass I am, moved to another app. the app had temporary number so it wasn’t my real number thank god. we talked on there for quite a while and then they started sending nudes to me. I obviously wasn’t goin to send anything back but I thought it’d be funny to send photos of Pinterest. I sent a fake face photo and fake shirtless photos. NOTHING ELSE. All of a sudden, They say ‘I have everything I need to ruin your life..’ I freeze and panic straight away as I saw they had taken a photo of my insta account and put it next to a dic pic that wasn’t mine. He had searched it up and added it in by himself trying to frame me. I questioned him for a bit then I blocked him. he threatened to show my followers on insta, some of them being family members, and I shit myself. I was innocent! I hadn’t sent anything. However, in the photo he edited it had the fake face photo I used of Pinterest so he believes he’s done me dirty there by putting my face photo. I’m still worried though as my insta page is in the photo. Someone please console me 🥲

So i was using this chatapp called Ometv where you chat with random people around the world. There's a lot of crazy stuff going on this app.

A couple of times, i exposed myself when I got caught up in the moment.

Now I'm concerned because my face was visible. I never shared any of my social media handles. But I have a small social media following and if someone did a backward search they would easily find me online.

Since then, I have made my social media account private and a random account keeps trying to add me even if i decline the request. Im worried this is someone who has captured footage of me.

How should I deal with this? Im afraid of ever making my Instagram account public again

Out of interest, where would a scammer likely spread these images and videos to if they weren’t to send to my ‘contacts’.
I’m asking as I would like to be attentive to these sites or pages and report/have them removed..

hello this is the first time i post on a subreddit so im not very familiar with this, anyways me and a girl from my school used to text and one day we started texting in a intimate way and sent images so turns out the girl took screenshots from another device and she said she doesnt remember or knows who she sent it too (i talked to her recently) keep in mind this was 3 years ago and my school knew and teachers knew about this the girl failed her class and had to redo with a class younger than us by a year, forward to this present day ive been getting blackmailed by a person on an multiple alt accounts on tiktok (its someone from my school under a fake name and he keeps creating accounts) i never thought much of it at first since the person messaged me privately “hi i want to talk to u about something” but then he showed our messages from 3 years ago and he threatened to post my intimate pictures but i blocked him and today he viewed my profile under the same name (he claims that he is in her class and that i “ruined” his life when i said the texts are deliberately ai) and i blocked him, do i let this situation go?

So I am a recent victim of sextortion. It happened just yesterday after taking the conversation off Tinder. They ended up getting my entire followers list of Instagram along with nudes which had my face in them.

I followed the advice here to a tee. Barely read the demands and blocked them off everything and deactivated my Instagram. Spoke to a few close friends for reassurance too. I was looking at the stats from the poll/pinned post PDF and got a little worried today when I saw that ~20% of blackmailers just post stuff anyway if they're blocked. It's been less than 24hrs and nothing's happened so far. How much longer before I'm in the clear and I know for sure they've given up?

All this to say, I'd really appreciate having someone to talk to. I'm not sure how long I have to be cautious for and what precautions I need to take moving forward to make sure I'm never contacted again. Also happy to talk to other victims.

Today someone claiming to be her father called me and said she's 15. Someone else called me claiming to be a police officer and said he wanted this to be resolved without charging me. The father called me back wanting money saying his daughter tried to commit suicide. And they want me to pay for the rehab program. I know it's likely a scam but I'm really terrified it's real. The father and the officer both sounded really convincing in their roles. As soon as money was mentioned I blocked them both. I called the police department to reach the officer in a verifiable way. They said there was no one by that name. I'm scared I've hurt someone without intending to, I'm scared I'm going on the registry. What do I do. Someone please tell me.

I met this person on reddit was talking and things got a little heated and we flirted and were sexting (on telegram), received a couple of pictures from their side I was in total assurance it’s all legit (I was terribly wrong) I was asked to send mine and I sent, asked to show a selfie saying you must be really handsome and to my sheer stupidity I sent a selfie.

Suddenly I get a screenshot with my real name, contact number and a paragraph written about r*pe threat and so on. I was threatened it will be shared to my family members and I should comply with their request. I didn’t even read the entire message. I instantly cleared the text from both ends and I blocked them. I deactivated my social media accounts (IG, FB) and went completely ghost on linkedin.

I am afraid what’s gonna happen. I didnt entertained them I blocked and removed all traces as soon as I saw it’s a scam and I am being targeted.

What’s gonna happen I am scared.

Hi everyone, recently been going through a bad break up and have resorted to using sites like X to fill the void.

Long story short, I sent some nudes (No face just my dick and legs lol) to a person online who seemed legit and right after I did that they stopped responding.

My account on X is 100% a burner with no way for them to find any other social media or personal info of mine. But I do have 1 worry... they had asked me to follow them on Instagram and I didn't. All I did was view their profile and proceed with talking to them. After they stopped responding I went and privated my IG and blocked their Instagram.

Im just worried and spiraling, is there a way that in the span of like an hour (how long we chatted) that instagram would recommend my account to them? Even the photo I sent was a screenshot of a video so even if there WAS metadata it should be inaccurate. (Dont think there was any to begin with)

Any words if advice are appreciated :)

I saw this girl post that she is looking for sext too and had a telegram username. The tg didn’t show my phone number and name. She asked me to share a few pics, so I showed some side photos, nothing clear and an explicit picture of my genitals. She sent me multiple photos and I asked her to verify too. She asked me to share the photos with her. Then suddenly she sent me a screenshot of this X/ twitter post with my photos. I blocked her immediately and took a screenshot of her username .

I have screenshots of her from reddit too. What a fucking scam. She said she is sharing her ID too, so that she can make it perfectly she was a minor. She confirmed her age to me first on text too, but then deleted it. What should I do? To be safe. I know I did nothing wrong and fucking hell I

First of all, I respectfully ask you not to remove this post. I’m posting this because I genuinely want to warn people in this community, especially younger users and girls. If this subreddit has people looking for friends, it can also attract dangerous individuals.
A few months ago, I made a post looking for friends because I simply wanted someone to practice English with. That’s all my intention was.
One of the people who contacted me later deleted his Reddit account. According to what he told me, he was in his 30s, lived in Switzerland, worked at an airport, and had Kurdish roots. I have no way to verify whether any of that is true, but I’m including screenshots of what he told me in case it helps someone recognize him.
He kept trying to get very close to me very quickly, which made me uncomfortable. I asked for his social media because I was already suspicious. He suggested we move to Discord instead. I also noticed that his accounts looked very new, which made me even more cautious.
I ignored him for a long time, but he continued messaging me.
Then, out of nowhere, he sent me forwarded photos and videos of what appeared to be a very young girl. She looked clearly underage—far younger than 16. The content included her face and body, and it was obvious she was a child. From her appearance, she also seemed to be from the Middle East.
That was the moment I realized this was far beyond just a creepy conversation.
I’m sharing his Discord username in the screenshots because I hope someone can identify him or knows the proper way to report him. I don’t want to contact him or let him know I’m making this post because I’m afraid he’ll simply delete that account too.
If, by any chance, the girl in those photos ever sees this, or if anyone recognizes the situation or this person, please speak up.
Most importantly, I want this to be a reminder to everyone here:
Please don’t trust someone just because they reply to your “looking for friends” post. Take your time, verify who you’re talking to, and never feel pressured to move to another platform or become close to someone you’ve just met online.
If anyone knows the correct way to report a Discord account involved in something like this, or has any advice on what I should do next, I’d really appreciate your help.

so my last post i was talking about how the extortionist contacted me again. Well it happened again a couple days ago, except with more threats of releasing my photos and stuff to the people i follow on instagram. Ive deleted that account long before, it was deleted after the first threat. I have another account its a burner one but it doesn’t follow everyone that the deleted one did. So telling people about what happened was hard because i don’t remember who i was following but with the burner account ive been asking everyone that follows it to spread the news and to report any account that leaks my photos. So im still scared about my photos being leaked but im doing everything to ensure the damage isn’t as bad. im continuing to block them and their numerous numbers and stuff, ive changed my number yesterday and ive been laying low on the internet. any advice, tips or thoughts?

I recently received an email claiming that they have access to my webcam and have videos of me. They demanded money in exchange for not releasing them.

The part that scared me is that they included one of my old passwords, and it was actually correct. However, it's not my current password anymore.

Does this mean they actually had access to my device at some point, or is this just a common scam using passwords from old data breaches? Has anyone else received something like this?

I've already changed my important passwords and enabled two-factor authentication, but I'm still a bit worried.

I had my Instagram linked in the bio of a dating app profile. Someone messaged me on Instagram saying they found me there and wanted to get to know me. We talked for a while, and eventually things got a little heated. We ended up exchanging explicit pictures.

Right after that, everything changed.
They sent me screenshots of my followers list and demanded $500, threatening to send the pictures to my followers if I didn’t pay.

I never sent them any money. I immediately blocked the account and reported it. Unfortunately, before I could do that, they had already created a group chat with some of my followers and sent the pictures there.

Thankfully, the account has since been reported and taken down.

What really gets me is that I’m usually very careful with stuff like this. The account looked legitimate, it had apparently been around since 2020, had a decent number of followers, and when I asked them to prove they were real, they even sent me a voice message. Looking back, I know all of that can be faked, but at the time it made me feel like I was talking to a real person.

I’ve already made all of my social media accounts private.
I guess I’m mainly looking for reassurance and advice:

Has anyone else had the scammers actually send the pictures instead of just threatening?

Did they ever try to contact you again after you blocked them?

Were you eventually able to make your social media public again, or did you keep everything private?

Is there anything else I should be doing that I might have missed?

I know I made a mistake, and I’ve definitely learned from it. I’m just trying to figure out what to expect going forward.

A few hours ago I found someone on reddit and it led to some sexting. Of course being horny I sent nudes without thinking of the consequences of it, for once it wasn't an OF seller so I felt more confident. It happened on telegram, I received a screen capture of a website telling it was looking for information about me. At the moment I panicked but after some research I don't have a personalized username on telegram and my phone number is available only to people in my contact list. Is there any chance the photo might be leaked or am I safe ? Btw I have blocked the scammer and stoped the conversation as soon as there was threat, I haven't received message by mail or Instagram so I believe they haven't find any of these.

I was a victim of sextortion a few weeks ago and it has really changed my life.

Here’s how it went:

I woke up around 5 AM and saw I had a text from an out of state # (Mississippi area code). It came in around 1 AM. It simply said “Hey (my name)”. I’m my line of work getting a text from out of state numbers is not abnormal. I got up that morning and got ready for work but totally forgot got to text it back.

A few hours later around lunch time I received the same text except from a New York area code #. This time I’m wide awake and figuring it’s someone I work with looking for me since they know my name. I text back and say “hey who is this?”. That reply back changed my life.

Within a second of that being sent I was flooded with texts and screenshots. With threats they were going to send stuff to my family, my kids teachers, and other friends. They were demanding 10k dollars which I didn’t have to give anyway. I tried to reason with them but it didn’t work.

Eventually it lead to them calling me. They spoke broken English and I could tell wasn’t from the U.S. after I said I couldn’t send 10k they demanded 1k then 500. I told them I had no way to send it because I didn’t use the apps. I was told to go get gift cards instead. This is all while they are sending me screenshots of the messages they are going to send to my people.

Eventually he did send one to my wife. Luckily I called her beforehand and told her what was about to happen. I was so embarrassed I just wanted to die. I didn’t want to be there anymore and told my kids I loved them and for my family to take care of them and that I would always watch over them.

I was eventually talked down and stopped responding to them. Once I quit responding I was still flooded with texts but they eventually stopped. The damage was done though. By this time many people in my work knew, my family knew as well. Something so secret and dear to me was just thrown out there for everyone to see.

Now I am seeing a therapist and working through it so I don’t spiral that low again.
