Question About a LaVey Quote

Okay, a popular quote by Doktor LaVey is, “Satanists are born, not made.”

Does this mean I can’t be a Satanist if, during certain times in my life, I wavered from believing in and living by the ethos of Satanism after reading The Satanic Bible?

I have read it again twice lately, and it’s like reading it with fresh eyes. When I’m sane, on medication, and more sober minded, it seems to be a natural way of viewing the world to me. It feels like things I’ve known and agreed with since I’ve read it, but due to weaknesses allowed myself to doubt to the point I left the boundaries of Satanism.

If I come back within those boundaries and alter my behavior, would I qualify for the title of Satanists? Could I still be said to be Satanic by nature if at times I’ve gone against my nature?

As most people associated with Satanism know, a sub group broke off from the Church of Satan known as the Temple of Set. I heard either another satanist or one of the members of the temple of set claim that at the start of the church of Satan there was more of a spiritual element instead of pure materialism, but as the Church continued it started focusing only on the materialist aspect. Is there any truth to this claim?

so I’m new to the whole satanist religion but I’ve grown up around everything around it because of my father but I have some question.

when I was a child about 9-10 my dad did a satanic prayer for protection from whatever I need it for but ever since then I’ve noticed animals have looked at me weird always but for some reason no matter the animal they trust me like for instance my friend has a rescue dog that was rescued from an abusive male and 10 minutes after meeting the dog it was cuddling up to me and everything but trusts no other man

Hi! Just wondering about theistic satanism. I've read the satanic bible but I'd like more human opinions and thoughts i guess? I'm genuinely wondering because I've gotten different answers and am now confused.

How is theistic Satanism a thing when it's written as atheistic? I've spoken with a few Satanists who just fully discredit theistic Satanism. Saying its just something else. While I've had a few theistic Satanists say that theism is completely valid and just a branch of Satanism.

Im aware of Luciferiansm and Demonolatry, but I wanna focus on Satanism and theistic Satanism simply to inform myself and gain knowledge.

So, is theistic Satanism an actual form of Satanism? Or was the word theistic just added by those who follow the general Satanic theology but weren't atheists?

One of the ideas explored in the sermon is the history of the word satan itself.

In the Hebrew Bible, ha-satan was not originally a personal name. It referred to an adversary, challenger, or accuser. Over time, Satan, Lucifer, Lilith, Leviathan, and other figures became associated with rebellion, forbidden knowledge, autonomy, and resistance to imposed authority.

The sermon explores how I interpret those symbols within the Triumvirate of the Dawn and why I believe being a Satan is defined more by actions and values than by adherence to any single organization or tradition.

Whether you agree or disagree, I'm interested in hearing other Satanists' perspectives on the meaning of ha-satan, the role of the adversary, and what, if anything, unites the many forms of modern Satanism.

I normally try to celebrate the longest night with a little ritual and a swig of rum once the sun goes down. Do y'all consider the winter solstice a Satanic holiday?

I'm actually very new to demonolatry, but I've always felt drawn to the occult. Never knew why, just was. I've also have always been clairvoyant but off and on throughout my life I've periodically tried to suppress it but I've always been drawn back. Anyways, recently I came across Demonolatry literature and discovered the Ars Goetia and learned about the dukante hierarchy. I almost instantly felt drawn to Dantalion, his hynn (which has been looping in my head nonstop), and his symbol. Then shortly after I started feeling drawn to Gusion and then Astaroth, in that order.

So my question is, would there be any reason for this? Has anyone else ever had similar experiences?

I meant to post this yesterday, but was too busy having fun and celebrating the holiday. Which serves as a reminder... don't get so caught up in social media and online drama that you forget to go out and LIVE (aka "touch grass"). For a Satanist who desires a ritual to declare their realization (like you said, not a "conversion") and dedication to living a Satanic life, there are a couple of options.

First, since you are a minor, start with the Church of Satan Youth Communiqué. It has an easy ritual you can use for this purpose.

Once you're a legal adult, there's a "baptism" ritual in LaVey's book, The Satanic Rituals. It's designed for group ritual but, with some creativity and rewording, it can be tweaked to serve as a powerful solo ritual.

Hello, as the title says, I'm a Norse Pagan who wants to understand nore about Satanism with a few questions for those who follow it. Rest assured, I am non-judgmental and won't try to convert anyone, and am semi-familiar with this as I happen to have a friend who is a LaVeyan Satanist.
