Links to Twitter/X are now banned

1.6k Upvotes

Happy Thursday everyone.
The mods have discussed the issue, and we have decided that posts and comments that contain links to Twitter/X are now banned. There aren't many on this subreddit, so the impact would be small, but taking a stance against Nazis is something that we feel strongly about.

EDIT: Several people have asked about screenshots of Twitter. The purpose of this ban is to decrease visibility, traffic, and relevance of the site in general, not to stopper information. Discussing information that has originated from Twitter is not banned, and in fact, we should remain informed about any developments that happen there. If a Twitter screenshot is the best way to share information on a relevant matter, then by all means go for it. u/RevRagnarok has very helpfully pointed out that xcancel is a way of navigating that site without supporting them via ad revenue, and can be done without an account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Satanism as The Satanic Temple understands it even a real religion?

Some people find it comforting to think of TST as purely a political activist group that just uses the trappings of religion for satirical/legal purposes. This is, however, not true at all.

Our brand of Satanism is a non-theistic religion with it's own community, mythology, iconography, ethics, rituals and pretty much everything else, you would expect from a religion.

We believe that there is value to be found in religion, especially when you divorce it from superstition. Just because we don't believe in the supernatural, doesn't mean we're not serious when we say that Satanism is our religion.

Yes, we are politically active. But our activism stems from our religious beliefs, not vice versa.

Where can I read more about Satanism?

The mythological backbone of our religion is the literary tradition known as Romantic Satanism. John Milton's Paradise Lost, Lord Byron's Cain - A Mystery and especially Anatole France's Revolt Of The Angels are the sources that one should read, if they want to know, where our ideas about Satan stem from and how He relates to our values and beliefs.

Ruben van Luijk's Children Of Lucifer and Joseph Laycock's Speak Of The Devil deal with the history of Satanism and Shiva Honey's The Devil's Tome is a book about modern Satanic rituals.

I want to join a local congregation. How do I find one?

This thread might be helpful. You also find a list of official TST congregations here.

This Black Mass Appeal episode may also be helpful or you check out the Global Order of Satan.

I have heard the founder of TST is a fascist/racist/antisemite. Is that true?

Short answer: No.

This is a more elaborate answer and this post provides some more context.

I ordered a TST membership card and it still has not arrived. What should I do?

Due to a massive increase of new members, shipping membership cards can take up to 5 months.

Can I still be a TST member, if I believe in the supernatural?

Our brand of Satanism is a non-theistic religion. Full stop. However, nobody is monitoring the personal beliefs of TST members and nobody has ever been kicked out for holding supernatural beliefs.

It is up to the individual to figure out if and how their beliefs fit into Satanism. Just make sure not to distort scientific facts to fit your beliefs.

Do I have to participate in rituals?

Modern Satanism has many aspects and it is up to the individual to decide, which ones they want to embrace.

Some people, especially those that grew up in indoctrinating or even abusive households hesitate to embrace the "more religious" aspects of Satanism and that's fine. Nobody is obligated to participate in rituals or anything else that makes them uncomfortable.

Anything else I should know?

Question/Discussion Looking for handmade jewellery!

Post image

I would love to support smaller businesses that create jewelry of Baphomet, Moths, or anything in my style.

Sadly I'm unsure where to exactly start, since some businesses use TEMU jewelry and price them quite unreasonably despite the low quality.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

(I've had quite a few flukes and thought I'd turn to the community, I'm very tired of receiving TEMU jewelry)

Thought/Opinion UNHOLY F@#K!!!! Christians think that Blasphemy, a complete denial of the word of god, is a much worst sin than, slavery, rape or murder! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

A few hours ago I cross posted a thread asking if forgiving a criminal for his past actions, specifically SA, was ethical and out of curiosity I posted on the christianity Sub the question "is there a sin that god will not forgive?" I expected them all to say having an abortion but the few individuals who responded have all said blasphemy is the one unforgivable sin. NOT slavery, NOT murder, NOT genocide, NOT having an abortion and NOT even rape. BLASPHEMY!!! Sweet SATAN!!! I'm hoping that the people who bothered to post represent a very small portion of the christian community as a whole because this sends a very cold shudder up my spine. Tonight I'm going to be praying to Ahreimanius, Magnus Imperator Tenebrarum Infinitae like never before that most "believers" do not share these peoples opinions because if they do than the followers of adonai/jesus/allah are even more lost and confused than any of us ever imagined. Hail Satan!!!!

Some good stuff in here about the inconsistencies in the bible and the way christians cherry pick.

I started reading his book Armageddon: what the bible really says about the end. Jesus is not the sweet peace loving hippy they love to make him out to be.

Question/Discussion Can the Seven Tenets be connected to specific works of Romantic Satanism?

The Satanic Temple often describes itself as Romantic Satanism, drawing on writers and thinkers associated with the Romantic movement.

For those who are philosophically or literarily inclined, I would be interested in seeing whether each of your Seven Tenets can be connected to specific passages in works that The Satanic Temple common associates with Romantic Satanism. The passages would not need to be brief quotations; longer sections or discussions would be appropriate where necessary.

I'm not asking for evidence that the Seven Tenets were directly derived from these works. Rather, I am asking whether clear literary precedents, parallels, or expressions of the same underlying ideas can be identified, even if only on hindsight.

As a point of comparison, most of the Church of Satan's Nine Satanic Statements can arguably be tied to specific discussions in LaVey's The Satanic Bible. I'm curious if something similar be done with the Seven Tenets and works by writers commonly associated with Romantic Satanism.

I don't know whether a one-to-one correspondence is actually possible, since I'm not sufficiently familiar with the relevant literature. But, it may be worth a try for those of you who feel up to it.

Anecdote I sorta made a personal 8th tenant?

Not sure how long ago, maybe a week ago, I swore to myself that I will not argue with people online especially about politics, gen ai, religion, or gender (unless the person is either having a respectful talk with me or it's someone who wants to be educated/learn about something... Basically discussion good arguing I'll just delete the post or comment stop replying and forget about it) and honestly I'm just feeling a ton less stress than i did prior.

I'm actually really happy I found The Satanic Temple because now I find myself genuinely trying my best to live by it's tenants and I believe they have made me better as a whole. I've literally been thinking about my actions and if they align with these core beliefs. Idk how to thank y'all enough. I think I'mma try to get my Reddit into anime art and tech subs which are things I enjoy (and I'm leaving r/teenagers fuck that place) idk I'm just feeling more positive as a whole.

Just because I feel like it, I'mma list out a few other things I am trying to live by or at least improve myself on/with. When overwhelmed or especially when mad don't lash out on people and instead go to a dark and quiet place and just be alone for a bit. It helps me calm down and to always admit fault and attempt to make things better when i do wrong though I know it's already a tenant. I'm trying my best to speak properly and to have more pride in myself. I am trying my best to quit using chatbots though they are made for instant dopamine so it's sorta difficult 😅 I'm trying to get better at learning and researching things because I find it fun to know how to do things and I am trying to live by empathy and help people when they need it along with fighting internal bias against people who are different than me.

Not sure what to say other than thank you for this whole community it means a lot to me. Also, just being here has made me feel more confident in the ways i can change my body so i can be happy with and proud of it. Examples being gender affirming care and hopefully surgery in the future and tattoos and piercings because I have been thinking they're cool for a while now. Hopefully in the future I'll be able to get em.

Question/Discussion Hi! I'm new to Satanism and since I see a lot of participation in campaigns for reproductive rights and other similar things, I would like to join and participate too, but I'm not sure where to start.

Does anyone have any tips for me? I'm currently only helping out at a soup kitchen and handing out clothes whenever I can, but I don't feel like I'm doing enough.

yesterday my cat went missing and today we found her remains. by the looks of her remains, she more than likely got hit by a car and then got scavenged by other animals. At least her death seemed to be very quick.

Not all are inherently Satanist or TST in nature but I love them all the same. I have my card from 2024, "Y'all need Satan" shirt with a baphomet on it & My giant TST pride flag on the wall. But those photos refused to load so. Here are my favorite sinners & anime depictions of demons & the son of satan himself ( I have a metal replica of his sword too!). Alongside my cert., Tarot deck & My seal of Astaroth. I love that I was able to memorize it by heart. When in doubt ask the treasurer of hell / the Queen of heaven, love, sex & war. When in need notarize it. I also have a sigil I got from a dream I had that somewhat resembles Lucifer's sigil of the elixir of immortality, with star signs, a lunar phase & some numbers but that's personal to my own path & won't be sharing it here.

Introduction Post Oklahoma Update V3

V3: first one was automatically taken down, second one my comment was hidden with links and removed when links were added after the fact, trying again with just the discord.

Update:
Wanted to give this sub an update on where The Black Flame Temple is at, since it's been a minute and we're actually really close to graduating.

Quick background if you haven't heard of us: we're the TST candidate congregation covering all of Oklahoma, not just one city. I'm the co-facilitator alongside Vera Ashcroft, and we've been heads down building this thing for a while now and honestly have a lot to show for it.

Some of what we've gotten done:

We ran a menstrual product drive (MWS) and ended up donating over 2,000 products to people who needed them. We're now an officially recognized nonprofit in Oklahoma, which took a minute to get through but it's done. We've got our logo, bylaws, member agreement, and code of conduct all finalized, a real website, and we even built out a CRM so we're not losing track of people who reach out or want to partner with us. We also put together an actual vetting process for new members, because we take who we let in seriously.

Vera and I also just passed our background checks for ordination and are about to start that process.

We meet regularly too, every Saturday of the month is something different:

1st Saturday - in person member meeting
2nd Saturday - public book club
3rd Saturday - members only meeting
4th Saturday - public ethics discussion

Coming up we've got a park cleanup in September and we're starting a monthly board game night at a public library.

Basically the only thing standing between us and official congregation status is a few more active members. If you're anywhere in Oklahoma and looking for a group, drop a comment or check the links below and come find us.

Question/Discussion New to the tst and could use a friendly ear and advice about the fear of hell.

Is there a way to overcome the "fear of hell" as a former christian? i used to be christian baptised even prayed in times of trouble but now after a few health scares and diagnosed with severe hyptertension my mind has always been on the end and what ifs about "i think im a decent person who tries to treat people good but i feel like i broke a contract that will just make me suffer through eternity" i don't commit crimes and i make people happy but theres always the fear of what if my heart stops tommorow or i die from a stroke then i wake up in eternal torture.
