Around a year ago I’ve started my retrospective RE project and my first victim became Groove Coaster

year after, I have SDL3 rewritten engine and tate psp port (nah, Claude helped me with native because SDL is too heavy for 1004)

Are there anyone who can say something good about that?

PC Rhythm Game I made a rhythm game where your weapons become the music

Hi!

I've just released the Steam demo for PulseWave.

Instead of pressing buttons to the beat, you create an 8-beat rhythm by assigning weapons to different slots. Every shot becomes part of the soundtrack, and your weapon choices shape both the music and your build.

I'd love to hear what rhythm game fans think of the concept!

Sound Voltex Progression

I’ve been playing for about a few weeks now and just wanted to share my progress. This is also one of my favorite songs.

Once I get my new tripod, I’ll be using OBS and filming straight down on my controller so you can see better. Oh yeah, I also scored a S on this track!

Is there a way to bind the Escape key to my controller so that I can quit the game without using my keyboard? Any tips are welcome!

Discussion MIDI to XInput/Keyboard software

Post image
10 Upvotes

I'm coding an app that translates midi to Xinput or Keyboard. I'm using it on an Akai mpk mini III(the one with the joystick) . The main reason I made this was to play Pianista(Switch on emu). I have also tried it on Popn Lively. What other games you think will work with a midi keyboard? Pitchwheel, control knobs, touchpad, keys are all assignable to digital or analog inputs, I'm borrowing a sustain pedal tomorrow to see if I can make that work as well.

Our first game Chef Niya: Rising star, is a cooking rhythm game where you are cooking real life dishes to music inspired by that dishes region! We've built a completely modular system to support more songs, difficulty modes and localization but need funds to finish this game and support the development of our other highly anticipated games. Question Am i actually getting weaker at rhythm games, or am i just trying too hard? Any advice?

I hope everyone is feeling well right now.

So i play a lot of vivid/stasis, especially last year to early this year, until i slowly started to play the game less often. Originally it was because of being busy with other things, but now i started to feel like i should play even less because of my weakening skills and burnout. There was one time where i took a break for the few recent months, and when i played the game just today, i still don't see any improvement at all. Even if i take breaks, i still don't feel any improvement and don't feel satisfied

Lately, whenever i play easier charts, like up to 11 (for the uninitiated, the maximum level in vivid/stasis is 17), i felt like my accuracy is getting worse. I started to get less accurate FCs and ACs on the easier charts. Several months ago, I once got 80+ regular crits (not A. CRITs, just regular CRITs) on a 10 FC and even though it's an FC, i still ruminate about it to this day because of the terrible accuracy for a level 10. Then i started getting more regular crits in easier songs than i should have, especially as of late.
I also tried FCing a chart under level 11 today and i keep fucking up so much that i gave up, and the same goes to trying to AC a chart with a one digit diff level (i have terrible memory lol, i think it was a 7).

I keep wanting to practice before rereading Chapter 2, hell even rereading the entire game story because i wanted to feel the story again, while at the same time try to get back to playing harder charts (14s-15+s, maybe even harder charts) like before, but i keep unintentionally shifting my mindset to be about achievements on easier charts instead of actually having fun and feeling flow.

I'm starting to feel like it's becoming a cycle at this point and i don't think i will improve again, at best not anytime soon. I had a similar thing to Phigros (except instead of about the easier charts, i tried too hard to FC the 15s and got me stressed) to the point that i just don't feel the energy to play this game much anymore and i'm scared it'll happen again in v/s. I was supposed to have fun, but now this keeps becoming about achievements again and again that i started to feel so much burnout from rhythm games.

I have loved rhythm games since 2019 and i don't want to lose interest in them because i feel like this is the only whole game genre i'm actually interested in. I do play games outside of this genre but i find RGs to be my most favorite genre, and i don't want to lose this interest. Am i trying too hard on achievements? Maybe I think I am, but what do you think? Does anyone have advice on how to improve or at least get through this?

P.S. Ironically, i FCed the Chapter 1 boss on FINALE 14 on first try. I find it strange in a time where i keep feeling burnt out from trying to FC/AC easier charts 😭

Arcade Rhythm Game 360 rhythm combat

Hey everyone,

I'd love to get some honest advice from the community.

I've spent a long time developing a VR rhythm combat game that I'm genuinely proud of. The gameplay is fast, satisfying, and a bit different from other rhythm games. So far, everyone who's actually played it—reviewers and testers alike—has been pleasantly surprised and has said the game has real potential.

The problem is... the name.

Unfortunately, it's too late to change it, so I'd rather not dwell on that. Instead, I'd really like to hear from players, developers, and anyone with marketing experience.

What would you do to convince people to at least try the 30-minute demo, even if the title doesn't immediately grab them?

I'd really appreciate any honest feedback after checking out the trailer or gameplay. If you have ideas on how to market the game in a way that gets people to look past the name and focus on the gameplay, I'm all ears.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZePcTwZDlI
Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JeovGHKaEsE
Meta Store (30-minute demo available): https://www.meta.com/pl-pl/experiences/six-seven/2787023821684229/

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I'd much rather improve how I present the game than keep wondering whether the name is stopping people before they even give it a chance.

Discussion [MIND-BLOWING] Feryquitous is actually An (Terao Kazuki)?????

So I accidentally came across to this website called BMI Repretoire which is a part of Broadcast Music, Inc., a performance rights organization. This website lists music works that were copyrighted by artists like composers, songwriters, performers, etc. And when I looked up Terao Kazuki (aka An), I found out there were songs made by Feryquitous, including Lividi in this list. All of them listed here were copyrighted under An's real name. Could it really be that we got deceived all the time that Feryquitous was An's assistant and also a female, and the fact that Feryquitous being An was widely denied by a lot of artists and the whole community? If so then is there any reason why An tried to make Feryquitous a completely different person and make the public believe "she" is a female and has always been An's assistant?

Recommendations Anyone got some mobile games that support custom tracks from your audio file?

Post image

I have several games that support custom tracks, but none pleases me as much as MELOBEAT. And even then the auto-generation is bad for certain tracks or just straight up impossible. I've tried Malody V but the ads are somewhat annoying, and there are only a few custom charts (even if I could make one with the editor, I struggle a lot)

Recommendations Are there any Carpal Tunnel friendly rhythm games ? (Mobile/Steam)

As the title would suggest, are there any rhythm games out there that aren't too physically demanding to play ? I mainly play Muse Dash on Steam and using a keyboard on some days really triggers wrist pains for me. I also play Project Diva Mega Mix (Steam) from time to time and honesty, using a controller also doesn't help much. On mobile I play Phigros and Cytus II which are definitely easier on my hand and wrist.

Other games I've tried out too in case you might recommend them:

Rhythm Doctor

ADOFAI

Crypt/Rift of the Necrodancer

Taiko no Tatsujin

Vivid Stasis

Unbeatable

No Straight Roads

I've also tried out other rhythm games like Hi-Fi Rush and I'm currently playing Patapon 1 + 2 since that's a simpler rhythm game I can play with just my right hand.

I honestly don't know how often the topic of accessibility or disability gets brought up in the rhythm game community since I believe there's an expectation that highly skilled players and even developers encourage a level of mastery that is unattainable for most people.

I still want to play and try out more rhythm games despite my left hand/wrist being the way that it is since I love the genre so much and the last thing I want is to completely lose my skill.
