[Let's play] Winning Was Optional, Violence Wasn't | Road Rash II
This week on my backlog journey I'm swinging my chain and flying off my bike, playing Road Rash II on the Mega Drive.
Played this briefly back in the day, but it was great getting back to it this past week.

[Homebrew] QUAKE (Game Boy Advance Prototype) | The Story of Quake on the Game Boy Advance Made by Randy Linden
This is the prototype of Quake for Game Boy Advance made by Randy Linden in 2002. Upon booting the game, we can instantly see how impressive this demo is for the hardware, with its capabilities effectively managing to outshine just about every 3D game out there that was released for the system. Not only that, it feels exactly like a Quake game. From the guns to the environments. You can even dive underwater! The game is fully 3D rendered, rather than the ray casting method most GBA games are known for. It has 3D enemies, animations, and point lighting effects (even on pre-rendered objects like weapons, which use a clever palette-changing trick to achieve the illusion of dynamic lighting). The camera and movement work is equally as incredible; it travels very cleanly, as opposed to being jittery.

[Modding] I Turned a 1982 Vectrex Into a Spotify Player
I turned a 1982 Vectrex into what might be one of the strangest Spotify players ever made.
In the video, I explain how I used a PiTrex to connect modern software to the Vectrex and display a Spotify interface on its original built-in vector screen and sound system.
It was a fun experiment in combining a very distinctive piece of 1980s hardware with a modern music-streaming service.

[Retrospective] Did you know about Sega's lost reboot? Golden Axed #retrogaming #sega ...
Let’s go back to 1989, Sega drops Golden Axe, a fantasy beat‑’em‑up forged by Makoto Uchida, the same mind behind Altered Beast. Fast‑forward to the early 2010s. Sega Studios Australia starts on a project called Sega Reborn, full 3D reboots of classics like Golden Axe.
But before the axe could swing, the studio shut down in 2013 and the project died.
