I paid a €500 booking deposit to Martin property consultants to secure a property. They said that a draft contract could be provided and that the property would be secured for us. We made it clear in our application that we would like to view the apartment in person before signing any documents. They then said that the guy over lettings or whatever is on holiday this week and that all agents are fully booked. We sent 3 emails and made 3 phone calls and they said we could have a viewing but have still not been able to send a draft of the contract or a receipt for the booking deposit and now I don't trust them much but the apartment seems pretty nice. Does anyone have any experience dealing with them? or any advice in general? is there any way we can get our deposit back after viewing?

I'm 26, been looking for a studio apartment on the south side and my god it is horrendous, currently sleeping on a sofa and even the rooms I've been looking at aren't great. If I could work remote I would probably leave dublin asap.

Ok, i’ve seen quite a few posts about this so sorry for the redundancy, but I just wanted to be double sure since people say that it’s legit but it honestly screams the opposite. I filled out a booking form for one of their rooms in canvas point (even tho canvas point campus website itself says there’s no availability..) filled out a google form (😭) and they got in touch w me saying they’d send contract and invoice shortly (haven’t heard back, been only about 6 hours tbf).

So, are the other posts i’ve been seeing where people mention it’s legit false / ads, or is this place fr?

I've been working on a project that tracks rental listings in Ireland, and while looking through the data I got curious.

Everyone always says "you have to be quick".

But what does "quick" actually mean?

From everything we've looked at, plus reports from letting agents, it seems that a huge percentage of decent Dublin rentals are gone within the first 24 hours.

Apparently it's not because they've already picked a tenant.

It's because they receive so many emails that they just pause the listing.

Some agents are talking about 150-200 enquiries on a single apartment.

Honestly that explains a lot.

I used to think I was just getting unlucky, but if you're applying a day later you're probably competing with hundreds of people already.

For the people here that eventually found somewhere...

How long were you searching?

Hi, I have aquired a room through hostingpower.ie. my problem is after booking the apartment i resieved a strict list of house rules.

It is strictly forbidden to bring anyone into the property at any time during your stay. You can never eat in your own room. you can only use the kitchen from breakfast: 6am to 9am lunch: from 12 am to 2pm and dinner 5pm to 10pm. And more.

if i had known about these rules before i booked it i would have never booked it in the first place. i think it is a little over the top and I think something like this should not come as a suprice

Note: I would like to point out that I am also looking on “Daft” and have found several listings that are cheaper or within the amount I estimated. However, I have hardly received any replies by email (people seem to have a very hard time responding there). So, I saw here and on other platforms an opportunity to have a better chance of getting a room within this budget.

Okay this is going to sound stupid asf, but on all of these student acommodation websites and places (yugo etc), for whatever rooms r available, they all have options to "book" the room. But then they have steps with payments etc. I am a bit confused because why would I be paying for anything before confirming with the landlord / place ... Also, is booking like booking a irl visit? or is it just reserving the spot, idk, confusing.

I live in a fourth floor apartment and the "cold" tap water in my kitchen regularly measures between 23º–25ºC after letting the tap run anywhere from 5-10 minutes. Sometimes it's even warmer than that! It's been like this even before the heatwave began.

When I raised the issue with building management I was given the brush off and told that those numbers are typical for Ireland. This can't be normal, right? Or am I going crazy–have the amoebas already gotten to my brain?

I am devoted to those around me and really invested in art and culture (meaning I am usually out late and have a PACKED social calendar). I will also be fresh off of graduating from a research masters in cognitive neuroscience and am a big academia nerd in general. Other than that I also enjoy writing, crochetting, and playing guitar.
