Question Discharged High Voltage Battery resulting to Gearbox Failure

Post image
19 Upvotes

I have a 2023 Renault Espace VI hybrid with 60,000k mileage. 2 years and 6 months old car.

Last Friday, while driving in the city I got an error of Warning Gearbox Failure Risk with STOP sign and car completely stopped in around 10-20meters. Called in the insurance immediately and a tow truck picked up the car.

Dealership just informed me today that the cause is due to Discharged of High Voltage battery. Unfortunately, this dealer is not authorized to fix the battery only the gearbox with the bill of 1.8k euros already and i need to bring the car to another dealer that can fix the battery.

I called Renault and they recommended to bring the car to another dealer to fix both issues however that dealer wont accept our car because they are already fully booked. Another challenge.

Has anyone experienced this issue with hybrid discharged high voltage battery resulting to gearbox issue? What to expect? Will Renault cover the repair?

We love our 2023 Espace and been to a lot of places driving this. It has a stylish design and comfortable driving experience. I hope this challenge will end soon

Jerking in Renault Clio 6 E-Tech Full Hybrid after update

Hello everyone.

A few days ago, the vehicle underwent a major update, and since then, it has been jerking quite violently when driving in the city while the engine is cold—something it didn't do before the update.

Has anyone else with this vehicle experienced the same problem?

It doesn't show any warning or error on the dashboard; it only produces those slight jerks or tugs.

If the jerking continues, I plan to take it to the nearest Renault service center.

Clock and date keeps resetting

Recently got an 2019 megane 4, icon.

All works fine and smooth. The only issue is, whenever I set the time and date up to date, the next morning I start the car, the date and time goes into random numbers.

For example, the current date is 18th of January and the time is 08.04

I set the exact timing and date, but next morning it becomes 04th of January, 22.30

Always going back by the way.

I checked many forums and posts but couldn't find an exact reason why this might be happening.

And ideas?

Does Megane E-tech EV60 2023 Techno trim include front parking sensors in the Advanced driving assist pack ?

I've tried searching about this everywhere but can't find a definitive answer. Renault's 2023 brochure says the Techno version does not include front/side parking sensors, only included in Augmented vision pack.

However, when looking through listings of 2023 Techno trim versions with the Advanced driving assist pack, I can clearly see the front sensors (which are needed for the adaptive cruise control included in this pack).

Does anyone here have a 2023 Techno trim with the Advanced driving assist pack only that can confirm this out please?

1.5dci Laguna Mk3 issues

Hi, having some issues with a 2011 Mk3 Laguna with the 1.5dci K9K engine.

The car was purchased in May and had just had a new injector fitted and was running fine. It has accrued just over 71,000 miles but has started to display symptoms of a misfire, only when the engine is either lukewarm or has fully warmed up. The card drives and performs beautifully until it starts jerking (only when the accelerator is tapped), but is fine, if not a bit flat when the accelerator is fully pressed during these jerking episodes and engine is above 2000 revs. When cold there is a slight kickback when at 1500 revs and MPG isn’t as good as I had hoped (suburban driving and averaging 32MPG which sensible driving.)

The car has been with an independent Renault specialist who test drove and ran tests, finding no faults and another garage has came to the same conclusion. Scared to take it on a long, motorway run because of this, which is undoubtedly needs.

Was wondering if anyone could please offer any advice on what this could be or if anyone has experienced this before? As it is spoiling the enjoyment of a very comfortable car.

Help: "Driving assist unavailable" message blocking tachometer

HI all. I have a new Renault Clio 6-speed right now as a rental car. It has about 25,000kms on it. Ever since I picked up the car earlier today, there has been a "driving assist unavailable" message on the dashboard.

That's fine and all, as I don't care too much about the active assist functions, but it is unfortunately blocking the tachometer on the dash, and I am unable to clear it. It really is affecting my experience with the car as it is more difficult to drive manual just by feel and sound than with a tachometer to reference.

Before you ask, I have already checked the manual, and I cannot take the car to a dealer as it is a rental car. I also am not close to the rental office anymore so can't exchange the car with them. Let me know if anybody knows how to clear this message, or some other way to make the tachometer more visible.

Pictures My Laguna Coupe

Hi, I'd like to post some pictures of my recently bought car (in December). It is Renault Laguna Coupe 2.0 dCi Initiale Paris version. It has almost everything, apart from an R-Link, enlarged braking discs and some visual elements.

The only problem I have with this car is the power: according to a dyno run it's 140 HP instead of ~150 HP (which is still miserable). OBD2 showed P1130 code, I think it might be involved.

Hope you enjoy.

Renault Megane 1.2 TCe

Salutare,

Question Renault Megane MK3 RS 250 opinions?

Hello,

I've been looking at some cars to buy myself as a weekend car, one of them being a Megane MK3 RS.

How reliable are they and what is the fuel consumption like? I'm interested in opinions from people who own stock cars only because I'm keeping it stock for a good while.

Thank you in advance.

Stop engine failure in Renault Scenic 1.2 Gasoline with turbo 2015

I just bought the car second hand and when I go up a hill it brings out the "stop the engine will be destroyed" warning, the moment I take my leg of the acceleration or the hill ends the warning disappears, if I go up the same hill but slower and without much acceleration the warning doesn't appear. I low key don't know why this happens, it has around 132.000 miles. I checked the car and the belt for the alternator was a bit eaten, so I replaced it, the roll of it is ok, but until winter I will also replace it together with the water pump.

Does anyone know what I can do? How to solve this?

Question 2019 GT Line passenger side climate dial.

Can someone with one of these just check how it should work and let me know?

At the moment, it seems my passenger side climate dial doesn't do anything at all. With the "dual" setting highlighted, the driver's dial controls the driver's temperature only. With it not highlighted, the driver's dial controls both. But I currently have no way of adjusting the passenger temperature only.

I normally have them linked, so I only just noticed. It might have been like this for a while. To be honest, I rarely used split climate and while it seems obvious how it should work, I'd just like to be sure.

UK spec car, so driver is right and passenger is left. And it's the larger (7"?) portrait orientation screen with most of the climate controls moved to the touch screen.

Megane 3 buying in 2026

Hi experts! Im gonna buy a first car and really want to buy megane 3. I live in Spain and here it costs 6-10k eur, but the thing that bothers me is engines.

As far as I understood the most reliable is 1,6 petroleum, but there aren't many options with that engine. Most of them contain tce engine and this one is shittiest according to the reviews.

There is also 1,5 dci engine but I guess it could cost a fortune to repair it in case of any problem.

Or maybe megane 3 is too outdated and I need to consider something else?

Question Renault Koleos rattling from boot

Hello!

Firstly just wanted to make note that I do not know alot about cars.

I just purchased a Renault Koleos My24 Zen, second hand on low KM’s.

I absolutely love the car so much - it’s everything I was hoping for, however after a week or so of driving it I’ve noticed a metallic rattle from my boot. It occurs on any piece of road that isn’t completely flat. I’ve tried removing all the bits and pieces that come with the spare tire (jack etc). I have tightened the spare tire up as much as I possibly can. I’ve even removed the casing that my number plate was in from the dealer.. yet it’s still happening. I can’t tell where it’s coming from.

The car is still under warranty so I’ll take it to the service center when I can, but just wondered if anybody else has had this experience and what it could be?

Thanks so much!

Discussion Renault 1.2 TCe owners: how many km are on your car

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I own a 2016 Renault Mégane IV 1.2 TCe (132 hp) with a 6-speed manual transmission (Bose Edition).

I bought the car in June 2019 with around 75,000 km on the clock. As of July 2026, it has 153,xxx km.

Since I bought it, I've had the engine oil and oil filter changed every year, along with the cabin air filter. The car has also received a yearly inspection, including all fluid checks and a general safety check.

Over the last seven years, I've only had one real issue, which happened in 2024.

Battery issue: The battery died and was replaced. About four months later, the replacement battery also went flat and had to be replaced again. At that point, I became suspicious. It eventually turned out that the workshop had installed the wrong type of battery twice. My car has a start-stop system, but they fitted a standard battery instead of a start-stop compatible one. Once the correct battery was installed, the problem was completely solved, and everything has been working perfectly ever since.

From 2019 to 2023, I drove less than 10,000 km per year. Since 2024, I've been driving around 15,000–20,000 km per year.

Unfortunately, I can't tell from the service history whether the previous owner ever replaced the spark plugs or did any work on the timing chain.

I suspect the spark plugs may never have been replaced, but I'm not 100% sure. As far as I know, the timing chain is still the original one.

The engine starts perfectly every time, whether it's cold or warm. There are no rattling or metallic noises that would suggest a worn timing chain.

One thing I have noticed is that the engine seems to consume a small amount of oil, but nothing close to the horror stories I've read online about the 1.2 TCe engine.

My driving style is pretty gentle:

Around 40% city driving and 60% highway/country roads

I always let the engine warm up properly before driving harder.

I rarely use full throttle.

Fuel consumption is usually between 6 and 8 L/100 km, depending on who's driving.

A full tank lasts roughly 450–600 km before the fuel warning light comes on.

To be honest, I really like this car. Despite all the negative things I've read online about the 1.2 TCe engine, I personally haven't experienced any major issues so far.

I'm curious to hear from other owners:

How many kilometers does your 1.2 TCe have?

What repairs have you had to do?

Would you keep the car if you were in my situation?

Is there anything you would recommend replacing or checking proactively at this mileage?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!
