'Himmler's Volkssturm', Soviet cartoon (1944), ridiculing the German Volkssturm, a national militia formed in the final months of the war. The cartoon shows elderly recruits, children and a baby marching behind wooden cut-outs of more formidable soldiers.

Drawn by the famous Kukryniksy illustrator-trio, it was also printed on demoralisation leaflets and dropped over German troops during the Red Army's advance westwards.

Artist Marc Murphy satirizes the GOP tactic of using highly charged, emotional issues like abortion to distract from their own misdeeds. The image shows a corporate figure free from oversight while a woman's body is targeted by strict legislation. He is also highlighting the hypocrisy of championing "small government" for businesses while regulating women's bodies.

"Should it be the last time, depends on you. It could be the last time, if you vote for the fascists: if you don't know what 'fascism' means, ask the people who suffered the tragedy of the dictatorship and war. It could be the last time, if you vote for the communists: to be fair, they do vote in communist countries, but only ever one candidate... So then, who should you vote? A party that took on the responsibility of taking a country destroyed by war through an economic miracle that surprised economists all over the world. A party that, even though it has been governing for the last 25 years, never gave in to the temptation of concentrating all power for itself, outlawing the opposition, or robbing you of the power to choose. Vote Christian Democracy to be sure there will be a 'next time'."

Part of the emerging field of industrial psychology, Bill Jones was a fictional character created to reshape corporate culture, boost output and discourage misconduct in the 1920s workforce. The posters were produced by British firm Parker-Holladay Co. for international distribution in places like the US and Canada.

Image drawn in reference to "Black Monday" (October, 19 1987) when the global stock market faced and unprecedented crash. By showing the band playing on a sinking ship, the artist is mocking the Reagan administration's forced cheerfulness and refusal to admit the severity of the market crash.
