Dupe Request Megathread (July 20, 2026)

Welcome to the Weekly Dupe Request Megathread. This is where you can get (and offer) recommendations for all dupe requests.

What counts as a dupe?

  • A perfume that smells "just like" another perfume - whether discontinued or priced out of budget

    • Example: "looking for a dupe of BR540 Extrait, but without the price tag"
    • Example: "something that smells just like Coffee Break, but lasts longer"
    • Example: “a dupe for the discontinued Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black”
    • A perfume version of any product: body sprays, hair products, lotions / creams, skin care, candles, candy / sweets, makeup, etc.

How it works:

Share as many details as possible that might be helpful in identifying the dupe you're after: a picture, notes or scent profile, your general geographic location, budget, etc. Please do a quick search of the sub before adding your request, even if you think it would be unusual.

Please remember that this is a global sub with quite a bit of volume, so a response may take time. This thread refreshes weekly on Mondays at 05:00 UTC, so keep that in mind when posting.

If you're looking for perfumes with a similar vibe of another perfume, but not dupes, you can post directly to the main feed.

Mod Post ‘Why was my post removed’ and ‘why did automod say my post violates rule 2’ - Newbie heads-up! + question thread

We’ve been getting a lot of mod mails asking why posts have been removed.

Often it’s because our filters had them held for mod review because a user is new to the community or trips the filter some other way. Unfortunately, Reddit says ‘the mods have removed this post’ instead of saying it’s under review. It will be reviewed by a mod and given a proper removal reason or approved within a few hours.

The other question we frequently get is why automod is saying their post violates rule 2 (Be Kind). It doesn’t, that’s just the automod reminder on every post submitted to r/perfumes.

Beyond that, general questions relating to perfumes or our subreddit can be asked below. Thank you!

Recommendation Request Britney Spears Fantasy - Need my next fragrance

Post image

With this increasingly hard to find and sometimes what I do find just smells like rubbing alcohol, I’m wondering if any of you wonderful women have a recommendation for a current fragrance with similar notes. I’m a creature of habit and also can be sensitive to smells so I’ve latched onto this one since I was like 13 (I’m 34 now).

he has never been into cologne, but i really love perfumes (my goal is 3 for each season) and i finally got him to be interested in having at least one per season. summer took the longest and this wasn't life changing for him but it's my personal fav out of all the summer scents we have sampled so i decided to finish his year.

spring: nosferatu

summer: a grove by the sea

autumn and winter: konig and flotholt (he likes both of these for autumn and winter)

if you have summer recs based on his other months, please let me know and i'll check them out.

currently these are being kept in his secretary desk so they're out of the sun. he's at work right now and i have decided to organize and clean out his office. not sure if he will keep these here but they were just in a drawer so i decided to display them. let me know if they're in a good spot now and i'll pass it along :)

Looking for something pleasant and warm for fall with an edgier twist, like taking a walk in the rain during autumn in a leather jacket. And you have a coffee or tea in hand. Or having a smoke during a walk. Something like that. (Preferably male oriented or unisex) I like bergamot/Mandarin and sandalwood in fragrances. Also vanilla and amber, pepper and suede. I like them to have a cozy woody base. Can also be boozy.

Discussion My order of CASAMORATI LIRA Xerjoff from FragranceNet

I ordered a .27 bottle from fragrancenet of xerjoff and when I got my order I decided to take the glass bottle out of the metal travel shell and saw how much was actually in the bottle. There is no way that’s actually .27 oz. I feel like I was scammed. I’ve heard that fragrancenet is a pretty reputable company. Anyone else have any problems with them?

Recommendation Request Scents that you HATE individually but then love when layered together?

Upvotes

Inspired by the story of two scrubbers canceling each other out:

I was regretting a cheapie blind buy of Johan B. Rich Delice for women (which I found to be kinda powdery and uninspired) the day after I was regifted a bottle of Dolce & Gabbana The One for women (very screechy for me). I was disappointed because I instantly knew these were not gonna work for me individually.

Before getting in the shower I layered them just for the hell of it since I hadn't stashed them yet and I was SHOCKED. It blanced down to a really rounded out soft floral but not too powdery that would be perfect for everyday wear at the office. It's not reinventing the wheel, but there is a depth and complexity there beyond what I would have expected.

Do you have scents you thought were scrubbers only to be redeemed by layering together? I would love to hear more before I destash my collection!

Discussion Looking for other iris addicts💄🧴🫚

Post image
234 Upvotes

I started my perfume journey by falling in love with peonies. After some time, I got obsessed with jasmine, dug that for a while, then Lust by Lush kind of ruined it for me. Became a tuberose hoarder for the flower’s hypnotic, buttery, intense scent—now I’m not too crazy about it. I’ve come to realize that my scent preferences have settled down where I enjoy dry resinous woods, warm spices, harmonious ambers…and IRIS. Oh, iris. Earthy, powdery, creamy, buttery, vegetal, it has so many facets and each and every one so elegant and sumptuous. I am in love, I am totally addicted and I love nothing more. The trouble is, all my favorite irises—aside from Zara’s Romance d’Iris(gorgeous creamy powdery dry down that is so similar to Guerlain’s C$775 Iris Palidas)—they are all discontinued: Orris & Sandalwood cologne intense by Jo Malone, Lipstick On by Maison Margiela, and pre-2025 Dior Homme Parfum.

I am so lucky to have these discontinued gems, but I wonder, are there any Iris fragrances that focus on the creamy earthy qualities of iris—say, “orris butter” notes—that you could recommend me? I have a hard time with freshies and lighter scents, so something more dense, please:) And like the title, are there any other iris addicts in this subreddit! What are your personal faves! Do let me know! Thanks in advance:)

(Currently eyeing: Le Labo Iris 39, Parfum d’Empire Cuir Ottoman, FOMO “Gary’s Den”(what is going on with the house name and perfume title. Yikes but apparently a great DHP dupe)

Prada Infusion D’Iris is also in the picture.

Recommendation Request Need some help please

Upvotes

Hey y’all!

I’m looking to treat myself to a new perfume for my birthday in November and would love your help deciding. I want to add something very "fresh" to my rotation. The contenders:

Acqua Di Gioia ( EDP)

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue

Chanel Chance Eau Fraîche ( EDP)

My current collection: Lancôme Idôle, Prada Paradoxe, Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb, Versace Bright Crystal, Chloé Eau de Parfum, Mugler Alien, and Estée Lauder Beautiful.

As you can see, my current shelf is very floral-heavy. I'd love to know which of my three contenders you think fits best, or if you have any other fresh/citrus/aquatic recommendations that would complement what I already own!

Recommendation Request Looking for a recommendation since my go-to perfume is not the same anymore

I was always using the Boss Woman Perfume for years. I think, they changed the formula, I‘m not entirely sure. Maybe someone knows about it? I really liked it, because it was not sweet, not flowery, not oriental and not citrusy. It was a bit tart and felt really like me.

Maybe someone has a suggestion for me? I haven’t found an alternative so far I stuck with. But maybe I‘m romanticizing history.

Recommendation Request Recommendations (ft. Sandalwood) 😂

I’m as noob as it comes when it comes to perfumes. I’m a huge fan of sandalwood and was introduced to Samsara by Guerlain early in my 20’s and never looked back.

I know all the jazz around how samsara used to use mysore sandalwood and was much more potent than what it’s today but I still like it.

However, it’s pretty dang heavy for summer. So I’m trying to find something that can replace my samsara only for summer or may be some unusually hot days in spring or fall.

I love sandalwood, but actually all kinds of Woody smells, citrus/aquatic I can live with if it’s not too sharp. Don’t care for leather/tobacco smells. Absolutely hate vanilla/candy/rose/caramel kind of sweet smells. My searches pushed me towards masculine perfumes which I don’t mind if that’s where what I prefer takes me but I’ll want advise from you peeps.

Please advise this noob 😊

Recommendation Request A modern day Kors by Michael Kors?

To this day I’m still heartbroken the signature perfume was discontinued and I’m clinging to my last bottle, but it’s time to start looking for a new love. Can anyone recommend something that’s still being sold in stores with a nice Tuberose presenting base? I believe the Kardashian line was discontinued as well.

Or, does anyone know where I can take my remaining bottle in the US and have it sampled and cloned? I’ve seen TheDupeSpots clone and I’m tempted to order it to see if it’s similar.

Thank you <3

Bottle Identification 2000s/2010s Mandarin Perfume (Help me Find!

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hello!
I’m trying to find a perfume I wore as a kid (USA 2000s-2010s). it was an orangey, rainy scent that I THINK had “mandarin” in the name. I can’t remember if I bought it with my mom somewhere (ulta, sephora, tj max, etc) or if it was a hand-me-down from an older sister or cousin, meaning it could have been fancier. the bottle was about the size of an iphone. the lid was either minimalist silver cylindrical or the horizontal clear rectangle on the right, and i think the label was either off to one side or small and centered. I know this may be a longshot but I’ve heard you guys are good at this!

Recommendation Request Please give me recommendations!

I’ve been on fragrance journey the past year now and my ultimate goal is finding a signature scent for each season! I’ve tried scents from my many niche brands, but of course my two favorites, Kilian - Princess and Sol de Janeiro - Cheirosa 40, are in Sephora. I layer them basically every single day and get complimented all the time. However, I feel like this is more a cool weather perfume combo. It’s definitely not bad in heat, but it can be too much for some people and I don’t want to be a headache inducing person.

I love anything vanilla, fruity and slightly green. The ginger green tea in Princess is fresh, but it’s still a gourmand. It’s so addicting to me. I’d love recommendations of fragrances in the same amber vanilla family as those two, but more hot weather friendly. A green vanilla or a green tea/matcha scent that isn’t latte or soft serve. I’m talking fresh out the bag, photorealistic matcha. I also love fruity smells like plum, peach and currants. And if you could find something lychee, that doesn’t have rose, I’d probably cry.

I don’t like patchouli, rose or heavy white florals. I really don’t like lily in particular. I’m also not looking for extremely spicy or citrus perfumes. Just a little in the top notes is fine, but nothing that overruns the entire scent. I want something lightly sweet, refreshing and memorable. No skin scents!

I live in the US and have no budget, so recommend anything available to me!

Discussion Dior Sauvage Extrait

Thumbnail

Just got my hands on the new Dior Sauvage Extrait early! This newest iteration includes a dark and slightly smoky Vietnamese oud with noticeable patchouli and a deep grassy vetiver. Keeps some of the original Sauvage DNA and shares similarities with the elixir. Very highly concentrated and leaves an oil sheen on skin, longevity and projection is explosive. Francis K killed this one.

Recommendation Request Looking for some good men's perfumes, or how to buy

Post image
2 Upvotes

There's this guy I'm interested in, and his birthday is coming up soon (dec). I'm not even slightly involved in the perfume community, especially regarding men's fragrances, but he is a big fan and a collector.

I don't want to get him a shitty/cheap/basic perfume, but I am also scared to spend a lot on something he won't like. From what I know, he has a lot of dupes, so im not opposed to buying off-brand but I do have a semi-high budget for this and would like to get him something a bit nice.

Can someone point me in the right direction, at least? I have attached a photo of a solid chunk of his collection, in hopes that helps.
