MyNBA Am I the only one who genuinely enjoys playing MyNBA this much?

Post image

I feel like most of the NBA 2K community talks about MyCareer, MyTeam, or online modes, but I rarely see people talk about how much they enjoy actually playing MyNBA games. I've been playing MyNBA with the same core for quite a while, and I've become genuinely attached to my own team.

I play almost every game instead of simulating because I really enjoy using this specific lineup. My 2 favorite superstars + 3 fave role players. Over time, I've developed a feel for how every player plays and how they fit together. I know when to let DWade attack the rim, when to let Kawhi take over the isolation, when to use Patty to run the offense and create movement, and how much Battier and Chandler contribute defensively.

What's funny is that I don't even necessarily want to keep upgrading the roster. I'm more interested in seeing how far this exact group can go. I want to see if we can win multiple championships and potentially build a dynasty together. I also love how stories naturally develop when you play every game. DWade and Kawhi are both in the MVP race. Wade is my primary offensive engine, but Kawhi is currently my leading scorer because he's been incredibly efficient from all 3 levels. Patty is leading my team in assists, and Chandler is in the DPOY race while almost averaging a double-double. And I got Giddey as 6th man of the year contender.

At this point, I feel like I'm the only one who plays like this lol. I've developed an actual connection with this core and their story.

Does anyone else play MyNBA this way? Do you play almost every game with the same core players and get attached to your roster and progress with the story, or do most people prefer to sim seasons and focus more on roster building?

General 2k is using AI for their cover and didn’t care that this isn’t Clark’s face.

In case you’re wondering if this year’s game is going to be good you have your answer. They can’t bother to get the cover right so the rest of the game is probably garbage money grab. So if you buy it, know what to expect: AI slop, money grab, and 2k not caring much

Discussion Plate Color should be tied to teammate grade and not Win/Loss

Post image
39 Upvotes

These plates should be linked to teammate grade, and they should go up and down based on teammate grade only, not whether you win or lose. Teammate grade also needs to be reworked to actually penalize people for not playing team ball, like dribbling too much, not passing, making selfish plays, or quitting. Linking these plates to teammate grade will entice players to play more team ball and fix a lot of the issues in random rec.

General Feels inexcusable that they still haven’t developed a good enough anti-cheat so PC can be including in the crossplay pool.

Most major titles have this figured out. It’s a shame that 2K hasn’t made it a priority.

I put 1,000 plus into 26 and I got at least another year to get my moneys worth . I can’t in good conscience go spend that money again especially for what’s seem like a roster update.

Discussion Why did they abandon regional covers? These are sick

I know the answer why but fuck them they have enough money. Give me a Rui Hachimura/Yuki Kawamure cover for Japan, a Kumbucket cover for the DR of Congo, and a Josh Okogie cover for Nigeria.

Who do you think would make the best regional cover athlete?

Gameplay 95 ball handle and yet get ripped more than I have on any other build. Trash

Game is dogshit.

Just played a game where I tipped 5 passes and got 1 steal to show for it. I finish with 9 assists but threw 2 bad passes and both were picked off.

I have the sharp takeover on and I get the ankle breaker on the center only for a guy to run up behind me and rip it from me. Happened twice. I have 95 ball handle

What does ball handle even do besides badge levels after 85? Point of this build was to have a short PF go dribble god against the other 6’11 PF but all that happens is I get put at center

So since I have 95 ball handle and 86 SWB I’ll get a few rebounds and unless something is wide open I’m taking it up. But the teammates complain and will only pass to me on corner threes. So now it’s a build with 95 ball handle only iso-ing twice a game. No one will read this so I’m gay

Dogshit game

Will PGs finally be forced to play team ball? No more dribbling behind a black hole screen for 20+ seconds while everybody spots up and watches every possession? Will everybody on the team be able to dribble and make plays? They can't play around about this, this is everything.

Discussion Am I missing something, or is there hardly any "value" in 2k27 Ultra Edition if you don't play MyTeam?

Might be just me, but the Ultra looks like a bad deal, and Deluxe absolutely looks like the move, and even more so if you don't play MyTeam.

  • Base game for $70: 10k VC for pre-ordering
  • Deluxe Edition for $100: 110k VC, 7-day early access, Wemby/CC Jerseys, and Skill/Gatorade Boosts
  • Ultra Edition for $150: 145k VC, 7-day early access, Wemby/CC Jerseys, a Rose hoodie, and Seasons 1 + 7-9 pro pass ($10 value each).

So 4 pro passes (including 3 months where player retention is by far the lowest), 35k VC, and a hoodie for an extra $50? Yes, there are tons of MyTeam stuff, but man that is terrible value if you are a Career/Park player.

Am I missing something?

Additionally, if you are looking for value and if you have $150 in the budget, you can get the following:

  1. Buy Deluxe Edition for 7-day early access/110k VC
  2. Buy HoF Season 1 Pass (assuming its set up exactly the same) for 15k VC instantly, level skips, rep boosters, faster progression to badge perks, and 45k additional VC over the course of the season for $20.
  3. Spend an additional $20 on 75k VC and hold $10 for S2, or get an additional 105k VC for $30
  4. This would leave you with 7-day early access + 240k-275k VC before any in-game quests or VC earned playing (yeah, the 45k comes down the road from the pass, but it's essentially unrealized gains, so it's slightly different) vs a hoodie, pro passes for the summer, and 145k VC.

MyPLAYER People who quit dont ruin the game. People who play braindead selfish ball do.

Upvotes

This narrative that its the people quitting is wild. Ill take a two hour break if my other option is brain damage from people being terrible at the easiest 2k to date.

If you cant not suck this year, please do us a favor and protest the new game. You will hate it.

Discussion 26 is so bad I don’t even care about 27 news

Upvotes

Usually I get super hyped around the time next year’s game news cycle starts up. I watch nearly every creator’s videos, I check 2K’s social media, and I start playing a lot again. None of that. This year has been horrid and I have 0 drive to play the game.

I haven’t played in months. The matchmaking is complete garbage. I’m purple and gold plate on all of my builds with about a 65% win rate playing with randoms and I’m always matched with some dummy who looks like he’s never touched a basketball before. The gameplay is shit. Defense just isn’t a thing, steals are trash and the one time that steals were actually in a good place they reverted the change the next day. There is no uniqueness in builds. I remember in 25 I had inside centers, all around guards, 99 speed 99 agility guards, lockdowns, stretch bigs. Everything in 26 is just the exact same.

Shooting is too easy so you’re forced to make your build with shooting otherwise you’re straight up selling. I remember at the beginning of the year I would just let people get 2s because it was pretty much just as good as a stop.

They made a super arcadey game and took away everything fun that made it arcadey. Fading from half court was a blast and they took it away. So now the playstyle is just slow and boring.

I’ve been playing Diamond Dynasty on MLB The Show 26 lately and it beats the absolute piss out of MyTeam. You can literally earn nearly any card in the game by just playing it. You don’t need to sink hundreds or even thousands of real dollars to get the best players. They are all earnable by simply playing the game.

Gameplay Where is 27 headed

When the devs start talking about the game in the coming days and weeks if there is not significant focus on stamina and physics I'm out on this one.

There are no mechanics that encourage people to play team ball. Stamina is not even real people never get tired with the ball in their hands, strength is not nearly as balanced as it should be. Having strength matter WAY MORE and stamina would bring that game to a better place I think

Discussion The Current State Of 2K

Why does it seem as if playmaking is a genuine myth when it comes to this game? It’s always me and my homie tryna hoop at the top of our game as we duo queue the rec and the randoms could genuinely care less about winning. People would rather drop 50 and take all the shots and lose rather than pass the ball and potentially only take 4 shots at most the whole game but actually win. Nobody on this game is tryna do the dirty work. Nobody is tryna do the things that never show up on the scoreboard. I load into the rec to pass the ball. I could genuinely care less if I score at all. There’s so many people who play this game who genuinely cannot say the same. People like to play with playmakers for the sake of getting the ball from them. Their mindsets are “well if you’re a good playmaker and i’m a good scorer, that means we’d make an amazing duo.” but WHAT IF we just all capitalized on ball movement AS A TEAM and WE ALL SCORE in order to really maximize whaat we can get done. it’s a 5v5 game mode for a reason and you can see who came into the rec and had never played a game of organized basketball in their lives. The same people who wanna come to the rec and ballhog are the same people who ruin this game and are genuinely scared of pro am, stage or even park because they’re out there getting HUMBLED. So instead they go to the most casual game mode and think everyone is supposed to sit back and watch them play the game we all paid for. The real problem with this game is the player base. It was NEVER about the game itself. This game catches so much slack about not being realistic enough in some cases and not being arcade-y enough in some cases. You can only have realism or arcade, you can’t have both. Sure they should’ve made different game modes to cater to those who want to have a more realistic experience and for those who want more of an arcade like experience, but it still comes down to actually watching and having played basketball. Let alone having the IQ to even play the game. When it comes to basketball it deeper than just being about to play make, score and play defense. It all means nothing without having the IQ to make the right plays on either end and that’s why once again this game being bad comes down to the player base. Why is it so hard to find 3 other people on this game who understand all of this ? this has such a high concurrent player count and I can’t find 3 people who actually have the neurons and psychological understanding of this concept. 3 people who aren’t selfish and genuinely just want to win. I’m starting to think 2K is literally proof of the dead internet theory at this point.
