Question Coincidences or miracles?

I am a 24f who would describe myself as a practicing Muslim. I am just your ordinary muslim; I pray 5 times a day (ofcourse), finish reading the Quran once a year, pray tahajjud and sunnah prayers occasionally and I love spending time with the quran. I sin just like the rest of the childeren of Adam.

The thing is, I sometimes get this crazy coincidences that leaves me rather taken aback.

This is an example last week I was rearranging my apartment and cleaning, in the evening I turned on my Quran radio which continued playing from where I stopped it last time. I had a dimmed lamp on and a candle lit. I was looking out the window and there were faint noises from the city noice. I just felt thankful and content for my apartment because everything was clean and quiet and and I said hasbiallahu wa ni’mal wakeel out of habit.
The quran was playing with low volume and as I was about to take a picture with my phone I heard an ayah that said wa ja’ala lakum min boyutikum… I don’t know arabic so I did not know what it meant. It stuck with me and I remembered the start so I searched it up only writing the transliteration.

This is the ayah;** **** **
َاللَّهُ **ج*َعَلَ *ل*َكُم مّ**ِن ب*ُيُوتِكُمْ سَكَنًا

Wa-llāhu jaʿala lakum min buyūtikum sakanan.

“And Allah has made for you your homes a place of rest, tranquility, and peace.”

( surah 16, ayah 80)

I was so astounded as I was sitting there and just sat with my hand over my mouth for a minute.

Another day, as I was walking home from Uni I was listening to quran and had my headset on. I didn’t know which surah was playing and I was honestly mostly in my mind. As I was walking I thought " man, I have to start thinking about getting married" as I thought that the reciter recited

And those who say, ‘Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous
(Surah 25, ayah 74)

I had heard that dua before and was so shocked to hear it exactly in that moment.

Another time, There was this guy who I felt wronged by. He was overall a good god-fearing person who didn’t have the intention to wrong me, but nevertheless I felt wronged ( Just said something I didn’t like). I prayed tahajjud regarding this person and to make things right and for him to excuse himself. Some time later I had a dream about this guy saying he made a mistake and asked for forgiveness. A few days later, he contacted me saying the EXACT same thing as I had a dream about and asked for forgiveness.

These are just a few, but there has been many examples like these in my life where I am left taken aback and bewildered. Either. Its from the Quran when I read or listen to it that feels like I have been spoken to directly at given moment, or it’s a dream or when I go to Jummah prayer and the Khutbah is suddenly so extremely relevant to what I have been pondering about that week.

Another example is, a few weeks before Arafah, I got familiar with Allahs name Qadir. Qadir stems from قدر (decree, to determine). Allah actually has three names related to that root verb. Al Qadir, Al Qadeer, and Al muqtadir. I found that very interesting how Allah has three names related to his decree and complete ability. after I learned that, I recognized it everywhere. It was also at a time where I was wishing for something that seemed impossible in my human mind. That was also learned the English word omnipotent. When arafah came along I again saw that name in the infamous arafah dua, even though I had said that dua multiple times, I didn’t realize how relevant it was and how even the Name Al-Qadir is the essence of Arafah.

What do you think? Are all these just coincidences? Am I reading too much into things?

Other topic Want to be a mother more than a partner

Want to be a mother more than a wife

Does anyone else feel this way sometimes 😂 even men perhaps?

I want to have my own kids one day so bad insha Allah, I regularly think about being a mother and how nice it would be to pour all of my love and care into my own children. I think I have a really strong maternal instinct because of my own mother who was very doting and motherly to all of my siblings, equally, unconditionally, and despite our big ages lol.

I always imagine having my own baby, bringing her places with me, cuddling, rocking her, talking to her, spending time together. I even think about how nice it would be once my kids grow up and we can enjoy life and conversations as adults. Going shopping with my daughter, having coffee dates, travelling, seeing her become her own person. Something about having my own children/family really draws me, despite the hardships.

I’m very aware of how difficult it is. I’ve seen my family struggle unimaginably and we’re not the perfect happy family by any measure. So maybe a part of me wants to do things differently for myself and for my children.

I think about this a lot more than I think about a husband. I don’t feel as drawn maybe because I think about the compromises you make as parents, with different choices and parenting styles. It’s impossible to raise your kids exactly how you yourself want to, I suppose, and that’s what makes me less interested in it. Maybe because I also think about how much work marriage is, and how conditional the love there could be. How he might expect me to play a certain role, might be unhappy with how I live my life, might resent me for pursuing things, might not see when I need help. I think I imagine he might ruin motherhood for me.

Random thoughts but none of my friends resonate with me on this so, curious if others do lol.

Also no I’m not going to attempt to be a single mother just because I want kids.

Support/Advice I’m jealous of the non-muslims who live seemingly fulfilling lives and I want to stop

Salam everyone.

Let me preface by saying that I do not envy the non-muslims who go out and party, commit zina, drink, and gamble. None of those things have ever seemed appealing to me and I know they do way more harm than good. That lifestyle is depressing

However, i’ll stumble across posts online or non muslims i meet in passing who are disciplined, have great jobs, loving partner/family, and travel the world. They don’t have any restrictions on themselves the way Muslims do so they’re able to enjoy the things of this dunya while also maintaining a fulfilling and healthy lifestyle that gives them peace and tranquility.

There are a lot of influencers and youtubers who fall into this category too, who seem like they genuinely have it all together. Are they really nothing without Allah? Do they really need God in their lives when they have good people around them and a life that brings them happiness?

I feel so silly making this post but I just feel like ever since I’ve gotten close to Allah, my life has felt more bleak and lonely because I’m not turning to anyone except Allah for help and guidance. I feel like i’m missing out on the life the non-muslims are living.

Support/Advice ADVICE WANTED

Salaams. I'm a mother to two young adults, married for 20+ years. My husband and I are practising Muslims, (not perfect by any means) but we ensure our kids had an Islamic education in conjunction with secular education. They're both in tertiary institutions furthering their studies. It has recently been brought to my attention that my son had an opened can stored inside his Stanley cup that contained 5% alcohol. The can was disposed off and l've subsequently been made aware of this. My son prays his salaah, reads Tahajjud and we all pray Quraan every night after Maghrib together as a family. My husband is a Hafiz and we try to teach our children well. It's a difficult parenting balance to navigate - to not be overbearing whilst also allowing the kids some freedoms to adult themselves.
I would love to give my son the benefit of the doubt and believe he has more Imaan than this, though why he would bring this into the house(even with an explanation defies logic)? I fear his dad will do something extreme, like chasing him out of the home, and while I definitely think this is wholly unacceptable behaviour from my son and it warrants a serious consequence, I also don't want to lose my son. I'd like to guide and correct him while also perhaps meting out some punishment for his transgression??? My husband will find my reaction underwhelming. I've never imagined l'd be in this predicament and would love some advice on how to navigate this process while trying to get a favourable outcome. FYI: I’m in shock after finding this out and DO NOT condone my son’s behaviour at all!

TLDR: found beer can in sons room, how to navigate

Discussion On the question of grooming gangs in the UK

It goes without saying that this is an ugly topic that nobody enjoys the reality of. That said, the topic is overwhelmingly steered by insincerity. And i'm tired. To address this issue, I've written this post together to address this question:

"what does a sincere perspective towards CSO and grooming look like?"

From the onset, the data available is poor, so all attempts at number crunching available exists with the caveat that about 2/3 of offenders dont have their ethnicity recorded (let alone religious conviction, adherence and so on). A sincere analysis would be to try and understand the most plausible explanation for what on earth is going on, not a single objective statistic or bunch of metrics with an indisputable conclusion.

1) "grooming gangs" is a specific and infact small subtype (3-4%) of the actual problem which is far broader and less interesting to somebody who's in this conversation to racialize it.

2) the best data we have for national coverage points to >90% share of CSO being white against like an 85% population, vs 3.8% share being 'Asian' (inclusive of indians, chinese, whatever else) against an 8-9% pop.

an index of 1.1 vs 0.4 tells the complete opposite story of the idea that Muslims, vs others are predisposed towards CSO.

3) the primary way to racialise it away from non muslim whites and towards muslim non-whites is to slice the subtypes of these crimes into one that eventually overrepresents your target population. A bit like ignoring who beats who in a UFC fight then looking at 'punches thrown' as an alternative measure to say your favourite fighter is better than the one who knocked him out. 'what about grooming gangs' is not a question that a sincere person who is bothered about these offences defaults to. It's a question of 'what crime can i specifically isolate to present as a muslim problem?'

4) Isolating the issue to grooming gangs is easier said than done. No such crime exists in court. There is no consistent legal application of the activity. While you have legal tools such as conspiracy to r-p-, the deployment of them to construct a 'gang' or treat co-offenders as separate individuals is down to CPS discretion. Resultantly, the application of the term 'grooming gang' is inconsistent without any legal regulations to ensure rule of law.

What does this mean practically? As far as news headlines are concerned: If craig the crackhead who trafficks his daughter gets hamza: customer A and akeel: customer B within 1 hour, the three of them could easily form a headline of 'asian grooming gang (66% muslim). the reality may well be that there was no conspiracy.

There is no data available to genuinely measure the consistency of how this behaviuour is grouped comparatively between when muslims do a crime vs non muslims.

5) Regional representation: While national figures show the broader pattern, can we look at specific regions that draw out examples of muslims over-representing?

Examples exist particularly in parts of the north. local data shows pakistani men genuinely over-representing. Which makes that a datapoint. The sources that derive these figures don't go on to conclude cultural or religious causes though.

Here is what I think a more plausible explanation in these cases seems to be:

- detection bias: street-based grooming has a different level of visibility vs familial or online abuse, driving areas that skew to different styles of the offense to have different rates of being caught

- opportunity structure: give 1000 men more opportunity to commit SA than another group of 1000 men, and the prior group will have a higher % of criminals. night time economy (taxis, takeaways) arguably generate more opportunity for crimes like this to happen. As i understand, there's no cross-ethnic or cross-religious analysis for crimes adjusted for occupational niches that may better explain why one group of people are convicted for the crime than another.

- deprivation as a pattern through time: Have deprived problem areas only been problematic per capita at a specific point in time? or can we track teenage pregnancies, prostitution rates and more throughout different waves of ethnic groups existing in deprived areas? In some areas, before pakistanis were considered the problem, it would have been the irish, or blacks. what about a problem area is tied to the cultural demographic vs a wider pattern of deprivation?

- Perpetrators are half the story: Ultimately, perpetrators target kids who are vulnerable. What is putting kids in positions of vulnerability? is there a geographic mapping of where children are made vulnerable? And is there a co-location with specific ethnic groups?

There's one aspect nobody seems to want to do a racial analysis of. by ethnic group or religious group: what % of children vs base population are being put into care by social services, or neglected through other pathways that lead to either trafficking or similar?

Often, it is presented that Muslim groomers hide in a bush somewhere and deliberately target non muslim girls. but the victim pool skewing based on ethnicity or religion could potentially be explained by family structures and behaviours of those who have a duty of care and responsibility over children to protect them in the first place, opening up a different racialised line of inquiry altogether that doesnt favour the conventional anti-muslim one.

Ultimately, the point is that people genuinely concerned by grooming and SA analyse more objectively, and dont jump to racialising the problem for political points. Look for genuine explanations.

Question Deep regret after cosmetic surgery - will Allah hear my Dua?

Salam everyone, I’m currently struggling deeply right now after a plastic surgery procedure left me botched.

I’ve always been insecure about festoons / malar bags (a bump on my cheek that looks like a bulge). Since young, people would sometimes ask me if I hurt myself so this used to always bother me. I was always very attractive and naturally pretty but this was my biggest insecurity.

In December last year, I underwent a procedure with a plastic surgeon to improve the cheek bump. This involved making an incision under my lower lashline and smoothening out the bump but in doing so I’m now left with lower eyelid retraction where my eyelids don’t hug my eyeball tightly and my eye shape has changed.

Everyday I cry and beg Allah for forgiveness for my impulse in doing this surgery. I don’t miss a prayer and every second I have idle, I am making duas and saying astagfirullah.

The sad part is I’m now 14 weeks pregnant and can’t even do a revision surgery to improve the situation. Above all, I feel very stuck and based on my research have also come to learn that this is a very complicated fix with no guarantee of lasting a lifetime.

What more can I do? I am no longer my old self and have gotten rid of all my bad habits that drifted me from Islam. I’m grateful for the life I have and thank Allah everyday for it but I am also deeply sad about my situation. I’m depressed and have great anxiety.

Please help me with any advice. Thank you.

Support/Advice Reverted Sister looking for a Wali

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakathu,

I hope that whoever is reading this is doing well inshaAllah; I am reaching out in desperation because I am seeking guidance regarding my current situation as a revert to Islam and marriage, and I would really appreciate any advice.

I recently just made a post asking fellow Muslims about finding an imam to help me learn more about the Quran and Hadiths, explaining my current situation: four years ago, I accepted Islam, and I have been trying to learn and grow more in my faith and religion. I come from a family that mainly practices Christianity, with some Jewish family members who have also played a vital role in my life. (I want to clarify that my parents are Jehovah's Witnesses.) I do not have a lot of support at home from my parents or from other family members, and I do not have any male Muslim family members who could serve as my wali.

I am here to seek guidance on how I could find a wali. I am also starting to think about marriage in the future, likely within the next year from now, and I have a potential prospect; I'd like to approach this matter correctly according to Islam. And since I don't have any Muslim family members to help me at all, I wanted to ask what the appropriate steps would be and if anybody can help me in the near future find a wali.

I would be extremely grateful for any help, if given inshaAllah.

JazakAllahu khair! Thank you so much for your time, patience, and guidance.

P.S. - Alhamdulillah, I have already conducted a thorough background check on my prospective client. Asking him important questions regarding his deen, level of religiosity, getting to know more about his character, goals in life, his values, and also long-term compatibility (note: we agree on basically everything). I am ensuring I proceed correctly by involving a wali and following the proper steps moving forward. However, it's very difficult in the situation I am in because I am being actively oppressed by my family for practicing Islam (I am not even permitted to go to the masjid).

Support/Advice Struggling with loneliness and family fitnah after Tawbah. Please keep me in your Du'as

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh dear brothers and sisters,

I am reaching out to this beautiful community seeking your wisdom, Islamic guidance, and sincere du'as.

I am a 22-year-old Muslimah. Alhamdulillah, I mostly stay at home helping my mother. In the past, I made mistakes, but I have sincerely made Tawbah (repentance) to Allah. Today, I do not talk to non-mahram men, nor do I have any male friends. However, living in a world where un-Islamic relationships are normalized—even among my close friends—can sometimes feel isolating.

My biggest heartbreak right now involves my 18-year-old younger brother. He has studied Islamic knowledge and recites the Qur'an, yet he is currently involved in an un-Islamic dating haram relationship with a Muslim girl. They go out together, hold hands, post on social media, and talk for hours on the phone. When our mother gently warned him in the past, he was deeply upset and they separated briefly, but they have since secretly reunited and now hide their posts from me.

I make du'a for him every day, asking Allah to protect his heart and guide him away from haram. At the same time, as a young woman who stays home and remains single, seeing them go out together sometimes brings moments of loneliness and sadness. I immediately remind myself that true peace lies only in what Allah has made Halal, but the human feeling of isolation still creeps in at times.

Because my brother is so absorbed in his relationship and friends, our bond as siblings has become very distant. I hold no resentment toward him—I only wish for both of us to walk a path that pleases Allah.

I would truly appreciate your advice on:

  1. Strengthening Iman & Overcoming Loneliness: How can I keep my heart steadfast, elevate my Iman, and find comfort when feeling lonely while staying away from fitnah?

  2. Guiding My Brother: How can I softly encourage or pray for my brother without pushing him further away or severing our sibling bond?

Jazakum Allahu Khairan to everyone who takes the time to read this and offer advice. May Allah reward you all.

Question Question about a sister’s video on hijab rules

Hi all, I’m a brother who is learning about Islam. I was on discord talking with a sister and the theme of hijab came up and what the rules are for males and females, I had questions about it and so she was teaching me. At one point she was teaching me about the women’s hijab and sent me this video to explain it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy6FGIHhczs (It has music so you should lower your volume)

I don’t really understand some of the things from this video. I get that it’s from the perspectives of hijabis showing the rules to a new convert but they don’t actually explain why things are done. For example at one point they take away her phone and her bag. And they also get rid of her trousers and make her wear a skirt instead. And I’m confused by that because I thought that trousers are okay as long as it isn’t tight and the figure isn’t shown.

I was going to ask the sister on discord about these things but she blocked me, she said I didn’t do anything wrong but she wants To stop all free mixing and so no DMs with men. And I respect that completely so I figured I would write here instead

Ps, this is a new account, I created it to be anonymous since I‘m writing to sisters, that way there’s less chance to freemix, this is another thing this sister advised me to do.

Anyway if you have any explanations for this video I would appreciate it, inshallah

Support/Advice Extremely toxic and abusive father

Salam everyone!

I am struggling mentally and emotionally a lot right now because of an extremely abusive father. I’m hurt to the point that it’s fogging my mind.

I have a father who does nothing at all, and we are dependent on our relatives for our basic needs and money. Initially, we relied on my father’s side of the family, but now we depend on my mother’s side because my uncle said he could not continue supporting us anymore. It was very humiliating too, but that’s another story.

I also work an online job. They pay very little, and almost all of it goes toward groceries and some bills. My father can work, but he chooses not to.

Another thing is that, ever since I was a child, even my earliest memories are of him being violent toward my mother, shouting at her, and abusing her. He used to scream so loudly that people far away could hear him. It was extremely humiliating, yet he would do it over the smallest things.

Anyhow, I grew up, and tomorrow will be my 25th birthday. I completed my master’s degree with great struggle that can’t even be explained. Now I’m trying to get a government job, which requires passing very difficult tests first.

The thing is, for the past three years, I have studied almost every day, all day, to get there. Whenever my father fights with my mother, it reaches a point where I have to get involved to calm him down. Instead, he curses and abuses me as well. He never lets anything go.

Yesterday, he did the same. He cursed me and said, “You will never be able to get the job you are trying to get. I pray to Allah to destroy you.” Then, when he calms down, he falls at my feet and apologizes.

I can’t forgive him because he always does and says the things that hurt me the most. I’m a woman, and he discusses me openly with other men. Sometimes he publicly shames me.

I always think, what did I ever do to deserve this?

He prays five times a day and uses religion as a weapon to curse and humiliate us. I used to find purpose in all of this through Islam, telling myself that it must be a test and that Allah would eventually provide ease. But that ease never came.

My beliefs are trembling. I keep asking myself, if Allah exists, why would He allow such absolute misery to fall upon me?

My mental health is falling apart.

There are only a few days left until my test, and I’m in disbelief. Should I even go for it or not, especially after my father has cursed me so many times?

Quran/Hadith Duaas to fight anxiety and depression

🌷*Duaas to fight anxiety and depression*🌷

by Asma bint Shameem

We all go through difficult times one time or another.

Here are some duaas proven from the authentic sources that we can read at such times.

1️⃣ The Prophet ﷺ said:

There is no-one who is afflicted by distress and grief, and says:

‘Allaahumma inni ‘abduka ibn ‘abdika ibn amatika naasyati bi yadika, maadin fiyya hukmuka, ‘adlun fiyya qadaa’uka.

As’aluka bi kulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka aw anzaltahu fi kitaabika aw ‘allamtahu ahadan min khalqika awista’tharta bihi fi ‘ilm il-ghaybi ‘indaka an taj’al al-Qur’aana al-adheema rabee’a qalbi wa noora sadri wa jalaa’a huzni wa dhihaaba hammi

“O Allaah, I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your maidservant; my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You have named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the Unseen with You, that You make the Qur’aan the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety),’

but Allaah will take away his distress and grief, and replace it with joy.”

He was asked: “O Messenger of Allaah, should we learn this?” He said: “Of course; everyone who hears it should learn it.” ( Ahmad- saheeh by al-Albaani)

2️⃣ The Prophet ﷺ said:

“There is no Muslim who is afflicted with a calamity and says that which Allaah has enjoined,

Innaa lillaahi wa inna ilayhi raaji’oon. Allaahumma ajurni fi museebati wa akhlif li khayran minha

“Verily to Allaah we belong and unto Him is our return. O Allaah, reward me for my calamity and compensated me with something better than it,

but Allaah will compensate him with something better than it.”(Muslim)

3️⃣ Ibn ‘Abbaas said that the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ used to say at times of distress:

‎لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبُّ الْأَرْضِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ

“Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah al-‘Azeem al-Haleem, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah Rabb al-‘Arsh al-‘azeem, la ilaaha ill-Allaah Rabb ul-samawaati wa Rabb ul-ard wa Rabb ul-‘Arsh il-kareem

“There is no god but Allaah, the All-Powerful, the Forbearing; there is no god but Allaah, Lord of the mighty Throne; there is no god but Allaah, Lord of heaven, Lord of earth, and Lord of the noble Throne.”

(al-Bukhaari, Muslim)

4️⃣ The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Shall I not tell you of something that, if any worldly calamity or disaster befalls any man among you and he says these words, he will be relieved of it. (It is) the du’aa’ of Dhu’l-Noon:

‎لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

“Laa ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka inni kuntu min al-zaalimeen

“None has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allaah), Glorified (and Exalted) be You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]! Truly, I have been of the wrongdoers).”

And in another narration he said:

“No Muslim man says this duaa’ concerning anything but Allaah will answer his prayer.” (at-Tirmidhi -Saheeh by al-Albaani)

5️⃣ The Prophet ﷺ  said:

“The du’aa’ of the person who is in distress is:

‎اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو فَلا تَكِلْنِي   إِلَى نَفْسِي    طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ لا إِلَهَ إِلا أَنْتَ

‘Allaahumma rahmataka arjoo fa laa takilni ilaa nafsi tarfat ‘ayn wa aslih li sha’ni kullahu laa ilaaha illa anta

“O Allaah, for Your mercy I hope, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for the blink of an eye; rectify all my affairs. There is no god except You”

(Abu Dawood -hasan by al-Albaani)

6️⃣ If some matter was troubling him, the Prophet ﷺ  would say:

‎يا حيُ يا قَيوم بِرَحمَتِكَ أسْتَغِيث

Yaa Hayyu yaa Qayyoom bi rahmatika astagheeth

“O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek Your help”

(at-Tirmidhi - hasan by al-Albaani)

7️⃣ The Prophet ﷺ  said to Asma’ bint ‘Umays:

“Shall I not teach you some words which you can say at times of distress and hardship?

‎اللَّهُ اللَّهُ رَبِّي لا أُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا

‘Allaahu Allaahu rabbee laa ushriku bihi shay’an

“Allaah is my Lord, I do not associate anything with Him).’”(Abu Dawood- saheeh by al-Albaani)

8️⃣ The Prophet ﷺ said:

‎اللَّهُمَّ لَا سَهْلَ إِلَّا مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلًا، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ سَهْلًا إِذَا شِئْتَ

“O Allaah, nothing is easy but that which You make easy and You can make hardship easy if You will.”

(Ibn Hibbaan - saheeh by al-Albaani)

And Allaah knows best.

Please keep me and my loved ones in your duas.

Support/Advice please pray for me - i've only ever been depressed like this once before and i want to get rid of it

i am not entirely sure God likes me anymore and recently i have started to lose confidence in myself despite having been in the past

i feel like every prayer that i give out is unanswered and if anything, the opposite of what i wish for happens,

i have failed the majority of competitions i've entered this year,

i have absolutely bombed my AS levels (a section of my ALevels that i do in year 12) with stupid mistakes like not seeing a double page spread of questions at the end,

my parents are mistreating me to a point where if i detailed what it was on the internet, i'm worried child protective services would get me,

i have no sense of autonomy,

this year i've been harrassed multiple times by random adult men whilst being a minor,

my friends keep calling me 'angry' even though they're the one's being horrible to me (e.g. calling my dad a pedo defender) (which he most certainly isn't) and then just because i can fight back and snap back at them, all of a sudden, i'm the one that's taken it too far,

i'm revising for the ucat, and i feel like an idiot because i'm getting the lowest of low,

i love exercise, but my dad has banned me from leaving the house,

i love to socialise, but again, i'm banned from leaving the house,

whenever i try to open up to someone, i feel like they either eventually get annoyed with how much i get upset so frequently. for example, i was voicing my frustrations to my mother and she told me to toughen up and focus on UCAT.

i want to pray for my life to be better, but, and i feel like i might as well not, since anytime i pray, it doesn't work.

Support/Advice I'm at a stage where I'm just blank. I don't know what to believe anymore. I haven't committed kufr yet, but in my heart of hearts, I don't truly believe either.

This isn't just about what I've personally faced and experienced, but also about my study of Islam.

I was born and raised a Muslim, and like other Muslims, I believed that Islam was the absolute truth.

I've always been a curious soul, so I began researching and studying Islam deeply. Along the way, I found a lot of contradictions. I used to study the arguments of Muslim scholars and academics regarding those contradictions, and most of them referred to different interpretations and similar explanations. Regardless, my faith was still strong.

Then I went even deeper. I discovered the mathematical error in the Qur'an regarding inheritance. I'm a student of science, so in my heart of hearts, I knew there was actually an error in the Qur'an. That was the first major blow to my faith.

I tried working on it myself. I made extensive notes about it and solved the equations on my own. The conclusion I reached was that there was, in fact, an error in the Qur'an. And because it was a mathematical error, no alternative interpretation could fix it. The arguments of Muslim scholars and academics regarding this issue weren't satisfactory at all.

It shook my faith, along with all the other doubts that had gradually seeped into my heart. I mean, if the Qur'an really came from an all-knowing Being, there shouldn't be a single error in it.

Regardless, I've been an unlucky person for most of my life, and for the last six years, I haven't been mentally well. Recently, some things happened in my life, and they turned out to be the worst possible outcome. I used to pray and ask Allah for good, but what happened was the worst of the worst outcome. It has completely shattered me and broken my soul.

I'm totally blank. I don't know what to believe anymore. I still haven't left Islam because I haven't yet channeled my thoughts into action. But I don't know how much longer I can hold on like this.

Question I need opinions on this topic

Salam everyone,

I’ve been seeing a specific type of video popping up on my feed a lot lately, and I wanted to get your perspectives on it. They usually follow a format like:

"Me burning in Jahannam next to murderers because my neck showed in my hijab."

"Me chilling with serial killers and criminals because I plucked my eyebrows."

I understand why people create these. A lot of it comes from genuine frustration with how hyper-judgmental social media comments can be, or how some people talk about minor mistakes as if they completely disqualify you from faith. It often feels like a coping mechanism or a way to call out extreme internet "haram police."

However, at the same time, seeing these videos constantly is starting to mess with my head and give me doubts.

While I get the satire behind them, it feels like they make light of serious concepts or inadvertently minimize sins. At the end of the day, if Allah has declared something forbidden, it’s forbidden and comparing a religious ruling to heinous crimes just to show how "disproportionate" it feels seems like it misses the point of obedience and humility.

How do you guys process these types of videos and what do you guys think?

Would love to hear balanced perspectives on this.

Feeling Blessed Cats in Islam 🐈🤍

Watching my cats always reminds me of one of the beautiful teachings of Islam: mercy.

The Prophet ﷺ taught us to be kind to animals and reminded us that every act of compassion matters.

Sometimes, caring for a small creature teaches us patience, gentleness, and gratitude in ways we don't expect.

May Allah make us among those who show mercy to all of His creation. Ameen. 🤲

Support/Advice How Do You Stay Muslim When Allah Takes Your Mother?

my life has not been the same since my mother died, how am I supposed to stay sane when my life is a mess

I was brutally bullied by my schoolmates and my own friends, I couldn't say anything at home because I knew that my mother had already suffered so much from the abuse of my dad she was always exhausted I felt so bad at that time I kept it to myself. I built an anti social mindset, introverted all this time and I lost interest in making friends because I was bullied by them.

My father on the other hand is the biggest loser and a narcissistic man who had no empathy for anyone not even me.

He's not a good Muslim but the sole reason my mom married that kind of guy is because she saw how genuine of a Muslim he was but later in life he turned out to be the biggest loser she had ever seen.

In 2021 she died of stress, her body was so weak doctors could not save her, my dad didn't accept his mistake and even after her death, he kept on blaming my sister for my mother's death but he was the reason all along. I have this immense hate for my own father that he did this to her.

I was not always religious but when she was sick I begged Allah to not take her away from me since she was all I've got now she's gone I feel terrible everyday I miss her so much I wish she was here. I didn't cry much at that time because I didn't pressure myself to think about her but now I can't hold it inside me, the thoughts of living my whole life without a family support I'm 22 now. I used to pray so much that now I've lost all hopes in God itself, I feel angered whenever someone tells me to remember God he'll Help me but I feel this rage saying he never listened to me he put me through hell now I have no one in my life and I'm so damn scared to marry someone what if he turns out to be just like my father. All I needed was peace in life which was never there since my childhood and on top of that my mother was not reading namaz nor she could practice anything which islam mandates all because of her job, there was no time for her. My father didn't pay for anything at that time it was 12 years since he fought with her he didn't give her money, he neglected all of us just for his ego.

I'm afraid that my mother will go to hell just because she didn't do her religious duties and my father could potentially go to heaven because he's alive and he may repent. I just want the highest level of Jannah for my mother she has endured so much pain in her life. This angers something inside me and I cry whenever I think of my mother in what state she could be, is she in trouble, I rarely see her in my dream. All these things make me hate God for a life like this and whenever someone tells me to pray to Allah I hate this feeling of anger I don't know why I'm feeling this way even though it's been years since she died, I think somewhere i blame God and tell him he's the reason she suffered, i suffered and I have to suffer my whole life without having to be with a mother who loves you , cares for you. I hate i think but what if God puts my mother in hell all because she was not good to her husband. she used to verbally abuse him because he didn't treat her well nor fulfilled his duties as a husband and as a father.

Support/Advice Am I still sinful if I can't necessarily avoid seafood where I live?

I follow the hanafi madhab and we can't eat crustaceans and that's not a problem, but I live in karachi and I'm next to the seaside and almost every restaurant and cafe has something to do with seafood or crustaceans. I obviously don't eat it but I get worried about cross contamination and I will get embarrassed trying to explain to people why I'm so strict about seafood because my family does not necessarily follow the hanafi madhab, they follow the prayer timings though so that's an issue as well as to why I avoid crustaceans. I know other madhabs don't follow this ruling though.

But I was worried about the fact If I'm sinful for this? I get quite stressed and worried about this.

Brothers only to all the brothers out there, what do you think can be an appropriate mahr?

it is recommended that mhr has to be simple but at the same time i believe simple is subjective
