Day 1 of building HOBO LIFE SIM

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Building a life simulator game about being homeless. There's a few on the iOS store that I do like but none of them are as in-depth as I'd like them to be, nor as realistic or have the best progression - thus leaving me dissatisfied. Today we got 1 activity we can do which is beg. I wanted to get the basics down first so I have something repeatable for future actions. Much much more to come. Building for iOS, macOS, and iPadOS.

Why do Android games take up so much storage now?

I was clearing out my phone the other day and realized a couple of games I downloaded are taking up wild amounts of space. I get that the graphics are better these days and all, but it feels like every mobile game now wants to hog half my storage. I’m talking multiple GBs for just one game. Is this just how it is now or am I missing something? How do you guys deal with this? Do you just delete games when you’re done or buy extra storage for your phone?

Why do some Android games kill my battery so fast??

I’ve been playing a bunch of Android games lately, and I swear some of them drain my battery like crazy. Like, I’ll go from 70% to 30% in what feels like an hour. Is it just a graphics thing or are some games just not optimized for mobile?

Also, does anyone have recommendations for games that don’t destroy battery life but are still fun to play? Bonus points if they don’t make my phone heat up like a toaster.

Lien jouable : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kapinfo.dopsarcandezombies

Plateforme : Android (mobile)

Statut Free to Play :

[x] Free to play

Can timing and elemental block interactions create a fun core gameplay loop?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm making a simple game that combines timing and strategy.

The more accurate your timing, the larger the block you earn.

Each block also has an elemental type, and those interactions continuously change the difficulty of the next move.

In other words, playing well doesn't simply make the game easier—it changes the decisions you'll have to make next.

I believe this evolving loop is what makes the game fun.

But I'm curious what other players and developers think.

Would this core gameplay loop be enough to keep you playing?

If not, what do you think is missing?

Anyone tried Christopher's Genie? Found it through the YouTube channel and curious before I start playing

I've been watching Christopher's Genie videos on YouTube for a while, and I just found out they actually have a mobile game too. Fairly new into the game - its a match 3 game but before i go deep wanted to hear others thoughts as im looking for a fun match-3 game

Is it a solid Match-3?

Worth getting into long-term, or does it get repetitve fast?

Anyone else come across it through the YouTube side? What's your take?

Any other recommendations instead??

Thanks in advanced!

Best mobile games for a group of friends who can't always play together?

Hi guys! So basically, my group of friends and I are looking for a mobile game to play in our free time. But unlike the other multiplayer games that are usually recommended here—like COD Mobile, PUBG, Brawl Stars, etc.—we're looking for something a bit different.

Our ideal game needs to follow two rules:

  • It has to be a game you can play for either 5 minutes or 30 minutes whenever you want, preferably in portrait (vertical) mode.
  • Most importantly, it shouldn't require everyone to be online at the same time. Each person should be able to hop in whenever they have time, and ideally be able to play with any friends who happen to be online.

That way, everyone can play at their own pace, see each other's progress, contribute to the same goal, and so on.

I'm imagining something cooperative, probably similar in spirit to games like Clash of Clans, but I'm curious if any games come to mind that fit this description.

P.S. The game can be paid, but it must be available on both iOS and Android.

Thanks!

There was this one game I used to play before lockdown, but now I can’t find it anywhere. It was a horror dress up game, a same game like that was made by the same company but it wasn’t themed. It was just normal?
It had a distinct song playing in the background

I made a minimalist swipe reflex game where the rules change as you progress

Hi! I’m a solo developer and I recently released Swipe Shift, a minimalist mobile reflex game.

You read the colors and swipe in the correct direction, but as you progress, the directions reverse and new rules are introduced.

I’d love to know whether the controls look intuitive and whether the later stages seem challenging or confusing.

Available on Android and iOS — links in the comments.

I’ve been playing this relaxing Patchle puzzle game lately

I’ve been playing Patchle recently and I’m enjoying it more than I expected.

It’s a simple grid puzzle where you drag patches to fill the board. The levels start easy, but slowly become more thoughtful. I like that it feels relaxing and doesn’t need internet to play.

There are daily puzzles, achievements, stats, and a lot of levels, so it’s nice for short breaks.

Why do mobile games have so many ads?

Seriously wth? I remember myself playing so many mobile games 10-15 years ago. Things used to be fun with no ads. I recently uninstalled every new game I just downloaded because the amount of ads is wild. The worst part is the scam you get before downloading the app: it's supposed to be free but it ain't free. 2€ is not justified for a mobile game anyway because I play all my games on cracked consoles.
