US Thompson M1A1 early production (1942.–1943.) deactivated, the bolt cocks and dry-fires. Comes with two original ,,Seymour" magazines. This example was used in the Croatian War of Independence (1991–1995) 🇭🇷 Not sure if it was used as well in ww2 by the Americans or it was just one in a series of those unused supplies that went to military aid to Yugoslavia in the 1950s. It is probably immposible to know such thing, but if someone knows if there is a chance that this one could have been used in ww2 theatre as well, pls let me know!

I recently acquired a very nice Spanish M1916 that had been damaged trying to drill and TAPE the WOODEN front hand guard. Rest of the stock was also very smelly and had shown signs of mold.

Disassembled the rifle (metal parts were very nice), cleaned the stock with oven cleaner, let it dry a couple of days, gave it a soft grinding with 0000 steel wool and oiled multiple times with boiled linseed oil.

Ordered a piece of walnut wood from eBay (2$) and took a very deep breath.

It was time to take out the broken wood around the drilled hole with a jigsaw. Never done that before. Took around 20 minutes and 4 saw blades, but came out really nice.

Then took measures from the new cut relief and milled that out of the walnut wood part using a Dremel. Key was to look for a nice piece of grain to fit the missing part in the handguard.

A little bit of filing and the repair block was glued in place using PVA glue. Some larger cracks were filled using PVA glue mixed with sawdust.

Let it dry over night and very carefully filed the repair block into shape. Before reaching the handguard, I switched to 200 grain sand paper. After the shape was fine and I couldn't feel the difference with my fingers anymore, I sanded it further down with 400 grain sand paper.

Gave it multiple coats in boiled linseed oil and reassembled the gun.

Looks awesome and didn't cost 20$ including the new jigsaw. Took around 2-3 hobby nights in my cellar and a lot of courage!

Don't be afraid, it's a very feasible and a MASSIVE upgrade to the rifle.

With only about 1500 produced through 1940, this is one of scarcest lebels out there. Surprisingly, she is all matching with the original rust blue finish with serial 495 and chambered in the standard 7.5x54mm (M29). The switch from the earlier 7.5x58mm (M24) was between serial 274 and 278.

Thought this was neat. 1911 in the war museum in Bayeux, Normandy. If you can read the placard, dug up in 2010 and allegedly still functional.

First milsurp rifle Ive gotten. Made in 1940 but has a 46 stock. Bore seems to be in good shape, with a spot or two of rust. Is this beechwood or walnut? Any tips on caring for the wood? I hit it with some ballistol and gonna steam the dents out of it.

Ok, I’ll start… and there’s actually smaller detents but this is the click detent from a Ross Mark II 3* and what makes it even smaller is that I need to make a duplicate on a lathe. it’s 1/16” long and 1/3 that around. how do I even find it in the chips after I part it off?

I recently visited my grandfather for his 100th Birthday and he gifted my his IBM M1 carbine in original configuration he was issued along with a last ditch Type 99 he picked up during occupation duty in Japan unfortunately the type 99 needs a new bolt as all of the internals were removed

Picked this geezer up for a nosebleed cheap price today and have been hounding the stamp and markings guides I can find since I got it. My issue is that at first and second glance it’s all really convincing that this is an original, but with some research I can’t shake the feeling it’s a warlord special? Anyone have more information than I do?

Finally took everything out. This is everything I own that I’m keeping. The stock at the bottom is a Schmidt-Rubin 1889, which we have the gun for, but it currently needs a stock repair to fix the existing one.

my love of rusty things blinds my perception. worked on this one until it became unquestionable that it was a burn victim. I have a nice slab of walnut to fabricate furniture from but unless I can figure a way to heat treat the metal, all is for not.

First clue of fire victim status: no wood. 2nd clue, all screws are stuck stuck stuck. 3rd clue, all springs are Fooked (this was not clear immediately because the magazine spring and a few others did seem to work… until I got it all cleaned up and the spring just didn’t work all the way. Last clue, who I got it from…. Yea, him.

That bolt was really stubborn, took over an hour of tapping it back and forth after several hours of backyard ballistics evaporust home brew. At first it would only move a few thousandths but eventually I won! The pencil mark was just for encouragement, so I could measure my progress with calipers.

I’m looking for direction in heat treating the receiver, bolt and hopefully everything else.

The other week I picked up a Czech K98 that unfortunately was in a chopped stock for a buck and a half. I ended up buying some Israeli surplus parts as placeholders until I can eventually replace them with the correct Czech parts, but for now I’m happy with it. Of course I will include before and after photos. In the deal I did get a free Spanish 1916 short rifle that I’m still hunting for a stock for but I’ll find one eventually. Yes the stock is marked 7.62 even though this rifle is in 8mm still. Shockingly the metal’s not import marked which leads me to believe it’s an interarms import or one that missed getting marked. For now though this will do well. Interestingly the butt plate on this Israeli stock and the bolt on the rifle are waffenamt marked. There is a dot in a sheld marking on the bottom of the barrel as well.
