Discussion I want a Sun Flares / PFC book

Upvotes

Ever since I read the first page of Maze Runner, I wanted to know what was happening with the world, like the Gladers desperately wanting to know who their parents are and what happened to the world. We get lots of amazing explanations when we see Denver, the Scorch, and of course in the Kill Order with Mark, Trina, Alec, and Lana escaping the subtrans in New York when the flares happened.

But I want to know, how did the world unravel? What countries may still exist? How did the PFC evolve into WICKED, more than just secret documents and letters? I want a story, of how the world ended. The Kill Order was awesome and vital in providing that context to The Maze Runner, but it would be so cool if we had a whole actual book for when the flares happened, even the perspectives of Thomas and others’ families right before, during, and right after.

How did the governments collapse? Did some polar regions still survive and thrive, having more leverage, power, and resources? Like could Greenland have been a safe haven? What is Canada like…? I wanna see the journeys and perspectives of refugees, Mark’s family, actual people who were in this apocalypse and how they managed to survive, it would also give the thought process behind the mysterious people who somehow decided that releasing a virus into the population would be a rational choice rather than continuing food shipments into places like Asheville and other major settlements and refugee camps.

Basically, The Maze Runner trilogy and even prequels give us the how of WICKED pursuing their insane experiments, but another book would give us the cause and reasoning behind it, the rationalizing in real time of desperate people caught between exercising solidarity or selfish survival in the midst of global apocalypse.

Discussion (F) Looking for Maze Runner friends 🌳

Hi, I'm posting this on whim in hopes to find likeminded people!

I'm (F) a huge Maze Runner fan since I was 16 and now I'm in my late 20's! Unfortunately, I don't have any friends that like the series as much as I do, and it would be amazing to have more people to chat & joke with about Maze Runner.

I'm very unserious, love to rp & basically just having fun in general so if anyone is interested, I also have a discord where I'm hosting weekly watch parties, events & challenges related to maze runner - all just for fun!!!

I'm located in Australia, so if I could find people locally that would also be cool <3

Feel free to reply if you're interested :)

Discussion A reboot in the future?

I’ve been thinking, would we in the future get a major reboot of Maze Runner? No, not the incoming project that is supposed to be like a Maze Cutter.

Do you think that maybe, they will reboot Maze Runner in a form of movie again or in series? I think if Maze Runner is getting the popularity again, it should be a series that really adapt the books properly.

However, I think that shouldn’t change the aspect of the original trilogy movies. Maybe more scenes in the Maze and some inspiration from the movie.

People did complained how Scorch Trials movie was not a faithful adaptation, yet I think that the movie fixed AND created a lot of issues.

For me, personally, even Death Cure book had too much issues to be adapted. Maybe, if Disney decides to reboot the franchise again like Percy Jackson, we will get a proper adaptation and visuals from what director Wes Ball had given us.

I’m sorry for my bad english, it is not my first language.

So what do you guys think? Maybe one book 2 seasons at most?

Question/Doubt timeline for the books?

i'm trying to write a fic right now, and all the timelines I'm seeing are messing me up right now. I know the events of TFC take place give or take a decade, while the trials itself happen within the course of 2-ish months.

i'm gonna try and refer to TFC and try to work out the dates, but i have no idea how to read those numbers and I don't exactly trust thomas' perception of time. i've got a rough idea as to what's happening but if anyone could help clear up the amount of time that takes place between each major event that'd be nice 😭😭

Question/Doubt Reboot

Weren’t we supposed to be getting a maze runner reboot/prequel from Disney? I feel like we haven’t heard any news of it since 2024 and wondering if it’s still going on. Anyone else curious on what happened?

Fanfiction Fanfic, is it worth it?

I'm writing a fanfic about Maze runner/ Newt in which a girl wakes up in the maze instead of the box. I'm writing it in spanish because that is my first language but since these books are old it is not getting any views.

I keep wondering if I should try and write it in english, but, is it worth it? Do people still read Maze Runner fanfics?

Question/Doubt What was the response like when the movies first came out?

I only recently got properly into the Maze Runner books and watched the movies a couple of years ago. And I do remember them quite well; I was pretty shocked by the huge differences in the movie interpretation from the books, especially in the last two of the trilogy. (I've only read up to The Death Cure).

My question for those who were around to remember the movies first coming out is what was the response like? Were people upset or annoyed, or was it kinda just accepted that they're simply different stories?

Discussion idc i love maze runner

I've watched Maze Runner when I was a kid. I grew attached to the casts ever since then. I couldn't even count how many times I have watched the series. Idk, they just gave me this comforting feeling (except that newt "d" word). I love their interactions, I love their friendship. Is it too much to ask for casts reunion again? Literally everyone from the movie :>

TDC Book Spoilers The end of Death Cure is so much sadder/disappointing after reading the prequels

This discussion is an ungodly amount of spoilers since it refers to books 3, 4, and 5 (release date order).

I just finished the Fever Code, and after reading Kill Order and Fever Code Teresa's death at the end of Death Cure is brutal. She worked so hard and so tirelessly, to get crushed by a damn pillar for Thomas?? That ending felt rushed when it happened, and out of character for Teresa and just unnecessary.

I'm just trying to make it all make sense, if anyone has any explanations/enlightenments I would love them.

Question/Doubt number of Gladers

this may be a stupid question or something obvious I'm missing but how are there 50-60 (in Thomas' estimate) Gladers when he arrives if they've only been sending one up per month? alby says he's been there the longest (2 years) and any earlier than him have died, so that means there should be around 24 Gladers at most, not 50-60. and he says that they've never had 2 in the same month so it's not that multiple get sent at once to start with maybe. maybe it's something obvious I'm missing since I'm reading for the first time but I'm quite confused

Discussion Teresa/chemistry between the leads (books vs movies)

Sorry not sure if the flair is right lol

So I read the books looong ago, when I was in middle school. And I remember really liking it. Hadn't watched the movies till last weekend, but finally decided to give it a go.

  1. Is it just me or is Teresa even more unlike-able in the movies than the books?

I mean I agree I haven't read the books in a long time, but I remember the feeling. I don't think I disliked Teresa as much in the books as I disliked her in the movies.

I've read many comments in this sub where they stated "if anyone was in Teresa's shoes, they'd do the same", which I think is what I thought too when I read the books.

But the movie Teresa? Ughh!
They skipped the telepathy and mind control aspect in the movies and that just made Teresa make zero sense. It was as if she's doing everything of her own accord and it was FRUSTRATING!

And in the end of the 3rd movie, she says "I tried..." before kissing Thomas and falling to her death.

Tried? TRIED WHAT GIRL? Torturing kids? It's not like she tried finding ethical methods to extract or formulate medicine. PLEASE. And not Thomas going "I know"

WHAT DO YOU KNOW EXACTLY SIR?

  1. Also there was like ZERO chemistry established between the two. That kiss at the end felt so...bland. I would've been happier if they'd just hugged as friends or something. They should've built up the chemistry somehow. The only indication that thomas liked teresa was in that trance party where thomas sees teresa instead of brenda. But what a weak dialogue 😭 "but you're not her" he said, looking at brenda.

I saw more chemistry between brenda thomas than teresa thomas. I remember that in the books i wasn't happy with brenda and thomas. But in the movies, i would've been sure as hell happy if it was just one love track with brenda and thomas. Instead of whatever they did with the two (Thomas and Teresa)

Thanks for reading through my frustrated paragraphs 😂😭😂😭

Question/Doubt Is the books or the movie better

I recently discovered maze runner movie (2014 one) and halfway through the series I knew it must have been a book adaptation and after doing some digging I found out it was a book adaptation.

My real question is should I read the books or watch the films to get a better experience of this world? as much as Iike reading books most of the time I also think the CGi/Animation(idk wht it is) is very cool. What would Y'all say?

I wonder if Thomas has any extended family out there, his parents probably passed away,we don't know about his extended family or even his grandparents, but I wonder what would happen if someone recognize thomas and see him as a relative, what would happen

Question/Doubt After watching the whole trilogy, I still don't know who Thomas is.

I know you must think I am a huge dumb ass, which I probably am. I enjoyed the movies not gonna lie, but during the entire trilogy I wanted to clearly know who Thomas was, how was he related to Teresa, why did he go in the maze, and why is he so special? Now I visit this subreddit and come to know that apparently as with most books, mazerunner movie adaptations also undermine the source material.
But the good thing is I am a VORACIOUS reader. I can gobble up books in one sitting easily. So will I find the answers I am looking for in the books? Should I read them?
