Message from the Mads Regarding political posts: please use the new "Political" flair
Political figures were mentioned and mocked on MST3K throughout its classic run ... hell, the current guy was riffed on more than once (and that doesn't include Pod People). So, no, we will not be banning political posts.
For those who want to avoid politics when surfing the sub, we've created a "Political" flair. We ask that users select that when posting anything relating to political matters. Yes, even John Sununu getting a haircut. Some browser extensions and apps allow you to filter out certain flair, so that should help you avoid these posts. And if a post has that flair, don't be surprised if the comments are in that vein, too.
(For other posts, please use the "edit me" flair and change the text to mention the episode you're referencing, if applicable. Maybe some of us are getting older and our memory don't work so good anymore. But I digress.)
Oh, and when there are political posts, please remember our other rules. Especially "Be civil."
Thank you.

Tickets now on sale. It would be funny if I purchased the ticket directly next to whoever this person is.

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Moutain Boys!
From the Day the Earth Froze. Anyone have any idea about this reference? Joel even says to Crow afterwards, “Crow you are out there.”

Fandango not working?
I’m trying to get tickets right now on fandango and it keeps telling me that all the seats have been taken every time I select any seat… Anyone else having this problem?

Josh! Frank! Acme! September!
Josh (aka J.Elvis) Weinstein is known in MST3K world for his roles as Dr. Laurence Erhardt and as the original puppeteer and voice for Tom Servo and Gypsy. He has been doing stand-up since he was a teen, but he doesn't do it very often now, so fans should make a point to get tickets to see him at Acme in Minneapolis this September! 🎤 TV's Frank will be featuring! And if you're Minnesota-adjacent, this proximity creates a greater expectation of your attendance. That includes you, Canada! 🍁

edit me Did Glen ever get an answer to his question?
I mean, what kind of sin did this man commit in his lifetime to bring that upon himself?

Mary Jo Pehl is so great in the Melting Man host skits...
Easily among her best performances of MST3K.
"Hey, have you met Tom Servo?"
"No. Let's go."

Deloris Faith
I just realized that Deloris Faith, who played Zetha in Phantom Planet also played Lisa Dornheimer in Hunan Duplicators. She was a lovely lady, in fact every year I grow more convinced that the wisest and the best is to fix our attention on the good and the beautiful exemplified by an image of Deloris Faith and a charbroiled hamburger sandwich with French fried potatoes garnish.

Frank was in Second Banana Heaven for a while, but it is *so* political up there - Pat Buttram had it in for him right from the start

IMO underrated Mitchell line: “He was hastily put together, wasn't he?”

Patton Oswalt
My wife and I saw him at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN last October. He mentioned at one point during the show that it was only the second time he had ever performed at a casino, and although he doesn't like redoing old bits, he thought it was an appropriate circumstance to tell us about the first time he performed at a casino. Anyone that is unfamiliar with the tale can see it here.

So naturally, once he finished telling this story, I had the overwhelming urge to yell out "MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER!!!!" However, I did not for three reasons:
We were in the balcony towards the back of the venue, and though we were in the first row, I probably would've had to do it at a very quiet moment for him to hear me.
I'm not the kind of person that likes to call attention to myself, especially in a large group of people.
My understanding is that stand up comedians generally do not appreciate unprompted audience participation.
So even though I felt there was a good chance Patton would have enjoyed that, I let the moment pass. But I would love it if there was some way to relay this to him. I'm not on Twitter or Bluesky or any other social media sites where he might reached. I've heard there are people connected to the show on this sub though. If there was any way he could be made aware that there was a fellow MSTie in the audience that night, I'd really appreciate it.

Sharing directorial duties *of host segments*
Apologies for any ambiguity...
It may have been born out of necessity by preventing burnout in one role, but how fucking cool that some who worked in front of the camera had the opportunity to experience the work behind it. Horizon-broadening.

An Important Message
As someone currently delivering in 95° heat and on his fourth or fifth bottle of the day, be sure to drink water. Love ya, MSTies.
Sorry for getting political.

I saw The Odyssey last night and thought of MST3K numerous times.
I had no idea watching all those bad Hercules movies would give me such prep work but it did!
Internally I was screaming “Don’t drink from the water’s of forgetfulness Herc! I mean…don’t eat the Lotus flower Odysseus!”
I was the Leo DiCaprio pointing meme when I saw greasy suitors attempting to woo and marry Queen Penelope so they might steal her throne.
And during a particularly bad storm sequence I had a brief flashback to Sinbad jumping overboard to meet Poseidon and save his shipmates.
It was a great movie overall but the colors were so dull and muted. It’s crazy to say but all those shitty Hercules/sword and sandals movies the show made fun of had a more vibrant, more Mediterranean feel then anything I saw during Nolan’s 3 hr Odyssey
