So over this shit 😭 just use Canva or something please for the love of god. It looks horrible 🫩

Even better idea: Hire an actual artist to do the graphic designs.

Is this all stores or just mine being lazy?

I've noticed in the last week that there has been a huge uptick of outright hostility on this subreddit, followed by a bunch of 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐘 unwarranted downvotes.

Am I gonna have to get Therapy Gecko up in here?

Employee Question drug screening 'canceled'?

Hoping to get some help with this issue. I've been told by the HR person and the asst manager that my drug screening was first lost, then changed it to canceled and I'm pretty sure that this is code for 'you tested positive for amphetamines' -- which I did! I've been taking adderal since 2007. I tried to tell the HR person multiple times that I take two prescription medications that will show up on a drug test while I was doing the saliva sample back in May but she didn't seem concerned and never asked what they were.

This seems extremely fishy to me, and when I tried to follow up yesterday, and find out what company does the drug screenings, he gave the Lowe's 800 number. I called him out on it, I told him I've called that number several times already, and asked what the drug screening company was. He said 'that's proprietary', and that 'wasn't going to do this with me today' and that if I didn't leave he was going to call police non-emergency. I said I didn't understand why he was being so hostile with me, and he said 'that's all I needed' and did a 180 and made a bee-line for his office. I left, because the cops are going to take his word over mine every day and I don't want to get tackled.

I left and called a different Lowe's and asked who did their drug screenings and they told me First Advantage without hesitation. I called FA today and they told me they'd send me a copy of my background check but didn't have a drug screening- they didn't have record of it being canceled, but didn't have it. Maybe the HR person threw it out because I'm too weird? I don't know.

I am absolutely baffled as to why I'm being treated like an actual criminal. If I hadn't moved an hour away to be closer to them, signed a 6 month lease, and used the job offer as proof of employment, it would not be a big deal. Especially after reading r/Lowes! No way in hell am I going to work there at this point. But it feels like this might be an autism/medical discrimination case, and I'm just trying to get some facts. My deception detector is going off the charts, and I know the asst manager is absolutely lying about the drug screening company being 'proprietary' and if he didn't majoring fuck up in a lawsuit kind of way, he would have just told me to go see for myself.

Has anyone any experience with this? This doesn't add up.

Does anyone know if First Advantage does both the drug screenings and the background checks or is it a different company for drug screenings?

Employee Question Pto payout

Just got my final paycheck from Lowe’s but I thought vacation and holiday was paid out on your last check. I’ve seen people in here say it will be a separate check. Just trying to get clarification before I try calling HR. My state is VA if that matters

Customer Question Why is self checkout miserable now?

I work a trade so I'm at Lowe's frequently. I've noticed in the past couple months that employees in the self checkout area will not leave me alone. Do you guys make commission or something?

Today, the woman working in the self checkout area felt the need to inform me that they have drinks in the little refrigerators - yes, I know.

About a week ago a different older woman hovered directly behind my shoulder while I checked out maybe 5 items. Cheap stuff too. Then she moved almost inbetween me and the terminal and read the total price amount out loud to me as if I wasn't capable of understanding it myself. Then she told me I smelled like citrus? It was bizarre.

Do I just have a weird local store? I'm genuinely so curious as to what could be encouraging this kind of grating behavior. Thanks!

Employee Question Question about call out policy

Per policy, call outs fall off after 365 rolling days from the date of the callout.

I am on an initial for a callout, and a written for something unrelated to attendance.

I technically only have 1 call out still on my “record” as they have all fallen off. But the initial has not fallen off yet.

I had two days that Sedgwick miscalculated my FMLA on, and said I had more time, but they just denied it and said they miscalculated my time… whatever. It would count as one occurrence.

I really need help figuring out what will happen. My FIL was a store manager and said that once the days fall off, even if you’re on an initial it cannot progress (or should not) until you get to 8 days. Other people on here say otherwise.. can someone give a concrete answer to ease my anxiety?

My call out was disability related. Not that it matters to Lowe’s.

Employee Story Cut hours and call people in, sure

I'm part time, and I'm there for some steps and exercise so I don't have to ever take the place seriously.

Hours are cut, everyone that's there is feeling the pain.

Last week, they called me to see if I'd come in. I had dinner plans with friends, so I canceled them to come in and help out. Sure, no problem. I moved those dinner plans to tonight.

This week, they call me again, "Hey, can you come in tonight?"

"Nope, I've got plans that I rescheduled last week for the same reason. You keep cutting everyone's hours and I'm not coming in to cover your staffing failures."

"Okay, I get it."

Get your poop in a group, Lowe's.

Employee Question Protection Plan issues

I bought a new clothes dryer and a 5 year protection plan for it. I'm getting spam emails from Lowes to buy a protection plan even though I have one. So I went to the protection plan web site to try and register it. The web site https://www.lowesprotectionplus.com/my-account asks for my Order Number which is very long, but the input field only takes like 8 characters. How can I get this setup for future use?

Thanks for any ideas.

Employee Question Question about return

I recently bought a craftsman 3/8 ratchet and 5ah battery with charger about a week and a half ago. I haven’t even used it yet and ended up getting a dewalt one as a gift which I will use instead. I don’t have the boxes for the ratchet and battery. Can I still return them without the box? I have both a physical and online receipt. Thanks in advance

Customer Complaint Issue with returned items

I am not sure if this is an issue with my local Lowe's store or if the chain wide issue. But it seems that customer service just takes the customer's word for the fact that the return is complete. They restock the item on the shelf in the next guy gets the item home and finds all kinds of things missing. This has happened to me three times now. First time was a toilet that was cracked and missing most of the install parts. Last two times were retrofit kits for LED lighting where a number of the install parts were no longer in the box.

It's frustrating.

Customer Question Online order keeps getting canceled...

Post image
6 Upvotes

At this point is not a price mistake or low quantities, over the past week and a half I have been trying to get a microwave and it shows to be in discount everytime the page shows it selling it at a discounted price, acknowledge of the fact the item is in discount.

But now it's been 3 times I place the order and it gets canceled either hours or days after, every time the price has been different.

Employee Story Panel Saw Fun TImes

I would like to report that is officially VERY SAFE to use small Jorgensen bar clamps to clamp plywood onto to the panel saw DIAGONALLY in order to make angled cuts, and that I am very wrong to say that Lowe's does not approve of such things, and that it is not allowed.

The "customer" has spoken, so it's OK.

(JK, I shut that BS down, save the life/job of the new kid in lumber, and had a nice argument about it for 10 minutes with said "customer"... which was a hella fun way to end my day.)

Employee Story i’m so fucking over this place

i’m tired of being in the public eye. i’m tired of my only useful skill in this store is the ability to get credit cards, i’m tired of hearing the same complaints over and over again. i’m tired of the store being constantly understaffed and having managers that only care how many kpi’s i produce. power pack down is a joke when my own department is an utter mess. every time i walk in this place, im reminded about how im working a dead end job and how much i fucking hate it here. it’s overstimulating, it’s so much more stressful than it needs to be. i want out but i have found myself stuck financially given that im in a more rural area and no one around me really pays as much. i’m depressed as fuck and this place is starting to feel like purgatory

edit: typo

Employee Question Head cashier (cash recycler)

Any other head cashiers bothered by the cash office being changed into an atm recycler. So they recently announced that they were dissolving the cash office role for two employees at our store. Adding their responsibilities and duties to our job on short notice. We’re getting zero information or training until the day it’s installed. Also expected to come into work at 4am to train and set up the recycler ourselves. I get the point of cost cutting but now our responsibility is going up and they’ve gotten rid of two people and no sign of any raise or additional help in the department. Also while in the middle of a hiring freeze and hours cutting. I don’t normally complain about much but I wanted to have opinions or thoughts from others. If your store already has gone through the change or how it has changed your work day.
