Guidelines for Sales Posts

When posting an item for sale, please make note of these guidelines.

  • You must include a sales price, either in the title or in a comment.

  • While not strictly required by the rules, it is strongly encouraged that you add a comment with some description and details about the item in question.

  • Our rules do not allow linking to a general store page, but you are permitted to link directly to an item for sale on your own domain. In other words, if you're selling an item and you just link to www.stinkovsleathergoods.com, that breaks the rule. But if you link to www.stinkovsleathergoods.com/the_item_i_am_selling, this is allowed and encouraged.

  • If you have multiple items to sell, please consolidate them into one post instead of spamming the board with many different sales posts.

  • Reposts are okay as long as the original listing is no longer on the main page.

  • Remember to flair your post so people can easily parse the listings. Be sure to change the flair to mark sold items.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comply with our rules! Happy selling.

Guidelines For Commissions And Requests

DISCLAIMER:

/r/leatherclassifieds does not facilitate or guarantee transactions of any kind. This is a contract between you (the buyer) and whatever seller you choose. Always be cautious when making purchases online and do your research. We hold no liability over any transactions or agreements you may make with other members of this board.

With that said, here are some guidelines to hopefully make your commission process go a little smoother.

  • Have a budget or a budget range in mind and include it in your post. It does not need to be an exact or fixed number, but knowing your price range is critical before offering any kind of bid. If your budget is open and you want to explore many possible bids, please make that known.

  • Common details that are useful to know up front are things such as color, thread color, or leather type. If you want a wallet, know what you want to carry in it and what it needs to do to meet your needs. The more specific you can be about what you want out of your commissioned piece, the quicker and easier it is to make.

  • If you already know what you want, it is helpful to add photographs, sketches, or even links to other products similar to what you are seeking.

  • If you need the item delivered within a certain time frame, please specify that up front.

  • It is difficult to convey the reality of the amount of work involved with answering a commission request. Understand that good work takes time, and time usually implies money. Very few people will be interested in replicating mass-market items for mass-market prices, or creating a completely custom item without adequate compensation. Don't be shy to ask, but please try to keep this in mind when doing so.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. More importantly, thank you for your willingness to support our makers and businesses.

COMMISSION ISO - New wallet incorporating parts from my deceased fathers wallet.

My father passed away 20+ years ago and ever since my younger special needs brother has been using has wallet as a keepsake/functional item. He went to use it the other day and I saw that it is on it's very last legs. I offered to pay to have a new one made using as much of the original as is possible. It is well worn out and the leather is thin but I figured some bits could be used in the construction of the new wallet so that it is technically still my fathers even though I imagine 90% will be new material. Looking for a well made rather standard wallet but I'm open to creativity, possibly with his initials embossed. Hopefully someone can be creative in how to include the old bits.

I made this dragon wallet as an example of what can be created entirely by hand. From carving and shaping the leather to painting, stitching, and finishing, every step is completed by hand from start to finish.

If you want something more personal than a traditional plain wallet, I accept custom commissions based on your preferred artwork, story, or personal meaning. We can discuss your idea together and develop it into a wallet made specifically for you.

Feel free to message me if you have an idea you would like to explore. What would you choose to have carved onto your own wallet?

SELL Cat Coin Purses

A few weeks ago I shared one of my handmade cat coin purses here, and I honestly wasn’t expecting the response it received. The encouragement, feedback, and kind comments from this community were incredible.

Since then, I’ve completed these new custom orders, each with its own unique leather and thread combination. It’s been a lot of fun seeing everyone put their own spin on the design, and I wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented, shared ideas, or reached out.

Each coin purses is handmade from premium Italian Buttero leather and completely customizable.

If you would like to have one made for yourself, I sell these for $150 at the Etsy listing below:
https://whaleyatelier.etsy.com/listing/4510783681

Thanks again for all the support, it genuinely means a lot to a small maker like me.

We used small perforations to form the medallion pattern on the toe. The brown-to-blue patina adds depth to the leather and makes the pattern more visible under the light.

COMMISSION Looking for a leather artisan to build a once-in-a-lifetime notebook cover (not a Traveller’s Notebook)

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone here can point me towards an artisan rather than a product.

I’ve spent months refining an idea for what will hopefully become my lifetime writing companion, and I think I’ve reached the point where I’m looking for the right craftsperson rather than continuing to search for an off-the-shelf notebook cover.

The project is intentionally simple.
It’s an A5 leather cover designed to hold a replaceable notebook, but I don’t want it to feel like a folio or organiser.
My goal is for it to feel like a beautifully made leather-bound object that happens to have a removable notebook inside.

Some of the features I’m hoping for are:
Full-grain vegetable-tanned leather.
Smooth leather-lined interior (no exposed suede).
Deep, structured pockets that securely hold the notebook.
The notebook sitting slightly recessed so the leather protects the page edges.
A firm, structured feel rather than floppy leather.
No pen loops.
No card slots.
No organiser features.
Minimal or no exterior branding.

Something designed to develop a beautiful patina over decades of use.
More than anything, I’m looking for exceptional craftsmanship and someone who enjoys collaborating on one-off commissions.
I’ve attached a concept image that illustrates the direction I’m thinking.
I’m in Australia, but I’m completely open to commissioning someone overseas if they’re the right fit.
Does anyone have recommendations for leather artisans or ateliers you’ve personally worked with—or whose work you admire—who might enjoy a project like this?
I’m much more interested in craftsmanship than brand names.
Thank you!

I’m not looking for the cheapest option. I’d much rather commission something exceptional once than buy five products that are almost right.

Made with Sedgwick English bridle, Sully chèvre, and alligator tail.

Handstitched at 4mm with .6mm Ritza thread.

Edges painted with Vernis edge paint and polished with a protective coat of Columbus wax.

Important note: due to the slim design of this case, it is not recommended to use with glasses over 3cm in depth. Using with larger glasses can put pressure on the temples.

BUILD COMPLETE I Just Finished the Most Complex Bifold Wallet I've Ever Made

Thumbnail
gallery
23 Upvotes

This is probably the most interesting bifold wallet I've ever made.

When closed, it measures 12.9 × 10 cm (5.08 × 3.94"), making it much larger than the slim wallets I usually make these days.

The wallet features 12 card slots, 3 ID windows, 3 hidden pockets, and 2 full-length bill compartments.

The customer wanted a colorful interior, so I combined several different leathers:

  • Purple Alligator for the exterior
  • Blue Alran Sully goatskin and blue lizard leather for the card slots
  • Green Alran Sully goatskin and green lizard leather for the ID windows
  • Lavender Alran Sully goatskin for the bill compartment lining

Even with so many colors, the combination feels surprisingly balanced and elegant rather than overwhelming.

For the stitching, I used red Meisi linen thread on the interior and lavender Meisi linen thread on the exterior to highlight the hand stitching and complement the leather colors.

This wallet was truly designed to carry an entire world.

Over the past few years, I've become so used to making compact, minimalist wallets because that's what most people seem to prefer nowadays. Working on a large traditional bifold like this brought back memories of a time when wallets were designed to hold everything—cash, cards, IDs, receipts, and whatever else you needed throughout the day.

It was a refreshing project and a really enjoyable experience to build something this substantial again.

What do you think of this wallet?

Are you using a slim minimalist wallet these days, or do you still carry a large wallet that holds everything?

COMMISSION [Commission Request] Custom snap belt, 2.25" wide, antique nickel hardware — quality over speed

Post image
4 Upvotes

Budget: Open. This is a daily-wear belt I want to actually last, so I care more about materials and craftsmanship than hitting a specific price point — send me your quote based on what's below and I'll go from there.

The gist: My current belt (photos attached) is worn out and I want it remade properly — same width, much better materials.

Width: 2.25", straight, no taper

Leather: Full-grain veg-tan, medium-heavy weight (8-9oz), smooth — no tooling or embossing

Color: Black

Edges: Burnished, natural — not painted or coated

Stitching: Single line near the edge, black thread, waxed linen or nylon if you've got it — I want this thing to actually hold up

Hardware: Snap system so the buckle's interchangeable, antique nickel finish throughout

Buckle: Open to your suggestions here — I'm not married to the plain rectangular style in the photos. What I'm going for is more "old-world witch" than "cowboy" or "renaissance faire" — think aged metal with some quiet character to it, not shiny, not ornate/costumey. If you have a stock buckle or a shape you like working with that fits that mood, I'd love to see it.

Use case: Daily wear, so built-to-last matters more to me than anything decorative.

Timeline: No rush — I'd rather wait for the right person than get it fast.

Happy to send waist measurement and more reference photos. Thanks for reading!

A wallet I call The Tommy, made entirely by hand from start to finish in the Netherlands.

It is chunky as it is 8mm thick on each side.

Asking 88.50 Euros shipped from NL to within the EU & UK with shipping being available to the rest of the world with an additional charge, just DM for details.

SELL Natural Tan Shinki Vertical Bifold (discounted)

Thumbnail
gallery
13 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I somehow got dye from another wallet on this one so I'll be offering it at a decent discount. If you've never had shell in a wallet, or find the marks kinda cool, this could be something for ya.

It's a classic vertical bifold build, with two vertical pockets, a horizontal pocket, and two hidden pockets. Can hold about 5-8 cards off the bat with half folded cash, and a bit more once broken in.

The exterior is a natural tan shell cordovan from Shinki Hikaku in Japan. A tannery famous for its sleek finish. The interior is a natural tan hot-stuffed kangaroo leather from Packer Leather nearby me in Queensland. Kangaroo leather is one of the strongest leathers for its weight and this one in particular has a very supple touch.

It's made entirely of full grain vegetable tanned leather, and is sure to patina nicely over time.

Normally $230 USD shipped to US, UK, CA, NZ

Now $175 USD shipped, via PayPal/Venmo

Or $230 AUD shipped domestic via PayID

Thanks for looking!

BUY Custom commission

Howdy 👋 not sure if this is allowed but giving it a shot..

I’m looking to commission a custom laptop pouch with an insert for a notebook on the front. Interested in the cool impressions and stitching people do here and I’m willing to pay good money for it if it’s durable and lasts a lifetime.

Would anyone be interested in working on this? Feel free to dm me past work, ideally we could hop on a quick call to discuss. :)

Hello all! I am looking for possible pricing information on a bag inspired by a vintage Coach 9033. If anyone would want to take on a project like this please let me know! I would eventually be interested in commissioning multiple colors. I already own one so I am able to provide specific measurements if needed. Thank you! (Pictures are not my own, found on Etsy).
