Question? Any news on next season?

Suddenly craving LE but it seems there's no news or any communication on the next season release yet? If not, how long is their usual season cycle? Seems slow vs the other ARPGs out there.

Last Epoch Building (LEB) v0.14 — major DPS accuracy pass, triggered skills, minion overhaul, Markdown notes, and a Config tab overhaul

Hey everyone, back with v0.14 of LEB, the Path of Building-style offline build planner for Last Epoch. It's been almost three months since the last release, and this is a big one.

Previous posts: v0.10 · v0.12 · v0.13

🌱 What's new in v0.14

A large chunk of the DPS pipeline is now connected end-to-end.

  • Triggered skills now contribute to Full DPS. A large family of "chance to cast/trigger" effects now uses the source skill's hit or cast rate, trigger chance, cooldown, and rate cap. This covers effects such as on-hit, on-crit, on-spell-cast, timer-based, and source-qualified triggers.
  • Minions received a major calculation overhaul. All minions now receive their inherent damage scaling from character level. Gear-, set-, and passive-summoned minions can be included in Full DPS, multi-skill minions can use more than their default attack, and minion Bleed/Ignite can finally deal calculated damage.
  • A large damage-accuracy pass. Skill damage conversion now moves the correct damage without duplicating or deleting it; ailment chance above 100% can apply extra stacks; DoTs use resistance and penetration; inherent base crit, Super Critical Strikes, Ward decay, leech, and many skill-specific mechanics are now modelled more faithfully.
  • New Markdown Notes tab. Edit/Preview modes, headings, lists, tables, code blocks, quotes, images, a table of contents, loadout references, scroll sync, and Ctrl-wheel font scaling are included. I wanted build notes to be useful for full guides, not just a small text box.
  • Config tab overhaul. LEB now highlights settings relevant to your current trees, skills, and equipment, with tooltips explaining what made each option relevant. Config Sets let you create, copy, rename, delete, and reorder named presets. Highlighting is read-only; it never silently changes your DPS. This is still a work in progress, so the relevance detection is one of the areas I'll keep focusing on in the next update.
  • Import, item, and UI improvements. Offline character import now retains more affixes and handles Legendary items more reliably, unspecialized bar skills are retained, Last Epoch Tools profile/character URLs are supported, unique/set tooltips follow the in-game entry order, and many smaller display and crash fixes are included. These areas are still being polished, and they remain a focus for the next update as well.

LEB v0.14.0 is verified compatible with Last Epoch 1.4.7. The full changelog is in the repository; it is much longer than this post and includes updates across every class, plus many uniques, sets, idols, affixes, and individual skills.

Things I'd love feedback on

Triggered skills: If a proc's Full DPS looks wrong, please tell me the source skill, triggered skill, displayed rate, and any cooldown/rate-cap involved.

Minion builds: Auto-summoned minions, minion ailments, and minions with several attacks received large changes. More real builds are especially helpful here.

Notes and Config Sets: I'd love to hear whether the new workflow feels natural, and which part becomes awkward when maintaining several variants of the same build.

Some mechanics are still deliberately conservative, config-gated, display-only, or shown per hit rather than folded into Full DPS. If a value surprises you, please include the build link instead of assuming every new row is already a complete rotation model. You can see which skills are already verified against in-game measurements and which are still being validated here: Skill Calculation Status.

Discussion LE's most successful season was its longest break. LE's least successful season (by %reduction in playercount) was its shortest break.

I understand that people want content faster, and it's just objectively true that EHG is slow in comparison to GGG, the game they are most compared to.

But it's also true that the game has deep flaws that a 3-4 month update cycle will not address, especially given EHG's development speed. EHG should focus on releasing bangers (which I think Season 2 was) over releasing every 3 months. Season 1 was a disaster, even at launch, and Season 2 was the best one yet, despite the long wait. Season 3 had a higher peak playercount than season 1 did.

The danger of a slow or inconsistent cadence is players losing interest. The danger of low-quality releases is that interested players won't come back. Quality before cadence.

Time will tell if we will get either.

Question? Anyone else having trouble with body armor prophecies?

This is a new thing that's only happened for me today, after years of playing. Just burned through 50k+ favor for exalted body armors in monoliths, and every one of those prophecies is currently dropping exalted helmets, which was the previous lense I had placed for armors before switching it out for body armor. Cool.

Discussion Expansion Outcomes

  1. The expansion sells well. They immediately start work on another expansion.

  2. The expansion sells poorly. The studio suffers layoffs or full closure.

I can’t think of any other outcomes.

Discussion Skills interaction in LE is too limited

I feel like skill interactions in Last Epoch are too tame and limited compared with Path of Exile, where skills can trigger from critical strikes, dodges, blocks, and many other mechanics.

One of the few true Cast-on-Crit interactions we have is Shuriken triggering on a bow critical strike. However, it is locked behind a corruption affix, which makes no sense to me. Why are interesting mechanics like Shuriken on bow crit and Icicle on bow hit corruption affixes instead of passives, skill-tree nodes, or more accessible item affixes?

Rain of Arrows is another frustrating example. It can only trigger from Arrow Storm, which has a ten-second cooldown, and the damage is already terrible. The developers placed so many restrictions on an underperforming skill that could have been a great option for Marksman builds.

A good quick fix would be once five points are invested, Rain of Arrows should be able to trigger on a bow hit or critical strike. I do not know exactly what the best solution is, but something needs to change so skill interactions feel more flexible and creative.

I want the freedom to create ridiculous, game-breaking, server-crashing builds like the ones people make in Path of Exile. Right now, too many interactions in Last Epoch feel controlled, limited, and boring.

Discussion I built a Build DPS calculator for LE while we wait (sort of patiently) for Season 5 (epoch-dps.com)

Hey fellow Travelers,

I’ve spent the last couple months building a tool that attempts to calculate build DPS, broken out by skill.

epoch-dps.com

I initially started building this as a personal project for two reasons: I was curious whether it was even possible, and I wanted to see what a build's theoretical DPS actually looks like broken down by skill — not just one sheet number, but every skill, sub-skill, ailment, etc. rolled up. It’s not something that’s meant to be an elitist top-DPS chase. It's just something fun to poke at when you're theorycrafting a new build.

I’ve decided to host it publicly for 2 reasons: I think it's a fun theorycrafting tool for those who want to see some theoretical damage value output, honestly, selfishly because it gives me the opportunity to collect feedback from the community and crowdsource the engine logic.  Right now, it’s solely based on a brain dump of my game knowledge (implemented through the help of Claude Code) and although I have a couple thousand hours, there are still so many builds / skills / items I have barely or never touched.

Use is free – no account, no ads (though full transparency there may be a possibility in the future to cover hosting costs). If the tool isn't your thing, no problem — thanks for giving it a look. If you like it and you’d like to provide feedback, submit it using the Feedback button on the site - please keep feedback constructive and detailed (UI, numbers, functionality).

The tool is VERY young — call it an alpha, and is actively being worked on as I have time. Some numbers will be wrong. When they are, that's exactly the feedback I'm looking for. I’ll be adding a discord link on the site if anyone wants to give additional feedback there in the coming weeks once I have some time to set up a server properly.

Hope to see you all out there in another epic season soon (PLEASE soon)!

Discussion Root Causes of LE Decline

I keep seeing posts from old players about fixing old issues, but I rarely see anyone discuss why Last Epoch got here so quickly. I want to break this down and get people’s thoughts.

1.Decision to compete against Path of Exile

During the early days, EHG repeatedly stated they never wanted to compete with PoE, positioning LE as more like Grim Dawn or Titan Quest. Yet they continued pushing features directly derived from PoE. Even the microtransaction business model is identical: live-server focus, no offline cosmetics early on, and constant live releases. Season 2 highlighted this shift most clearly, right before EHG’s acquisition by Krafton.

  1. Microtransaction failures

When you have to repeatedly ask your own players on forums what they want - especially when that’s your entire cash flow after the initial purchase - you’re failing on the vision. For PoE, stash tabs sell the most, followed by supporter packs and skill effects.

  1. Feature release schedule

We all saw the Season 3-4 roadmap, and it was so poorly received they had to redo and re-reveal it. From point 1: Path of Exile will always be ahead in content development and release pace, and the competition will outpace EHG. This isn’t the devs’ fault - GGG simply has worldwide talent and nearly 20 years of pipeline refinement.

From a business perspective, it might be better to release no information at all -maybe a week or two before a season drop. Players would disagree, but this approach keeps expectations low and drives marketing and sales. Also, how about a normal release schedule? This game desperately needs consistency.

  1. Same endgame grind for 2 years

Sure, you could argue the system has improved or changed slightly since 1.0, but the reality is players are bored doing the same endgame grind for two years straight. Only had 1-2 pinnacle bosses. At this point, Mark Roberts alone could design and implement pinnacle bosses as a consultant faster. (Sorry EHG devs, but what's going on here?)

Question? How to quickly earn gold to buy storage tabs.

What is a good way to earn 50M or so quickly on standard?

I have always played on ssf so i dont have the trade faction leveled. I just want to earn a few millions as fast as possible so i can buy storage tabs without worrying.

I wanted to play for a week to test builds on standard but i would have to delete so much gear bc each tab costs 250k right now.

Discussion Changing how I'm farming idols.

This has probably been posted already, but I haven't seen it, so posting it now because someone else might see this who could benefit from seeing it.

I haven't been specced into farming idols because I'm focused on other gear right now, but up until now my process for idols has been to filter out ones I don't want, pick up the ones that make it through my filter, and trash any that don't have a high roll on one mod and at least a medium-well roll on the other. I would then re-enchant those until I got the weaver enchantment I wanted (which would take forever), and now with the corruption of course that's the last step.

I've gotten a few decent idols this way, but very few since the corruption has either ruined some good idols or given me a corruption affix that's not useful to my build, and I haven't even tried corrupting many out of fear of bricking a really good idol until I have another one that's at least nearly as good that I'm willing to risk.

Despite how long this league has been going on, it wasn't until yesterday that I got the corruption effect that gives you max rolls on the item's affixes (on an idol), and I realized that (a) I'd forgotten that was even an option on idols, and (b) I might want to reconsider how I've been farming idols.

I think what I should be doing is split my idols into two separate processes. I'll continue to do what I described above for the decently-rolled items, but for all the low-rolled ones I can accept a weaver affix that's halfway decent but not the one I really want, and then corrupt those immediately. If I get the max-roll corruption then I can be setting myself up with max rolled idols first - and using the shitty-rolled ones to do it!

Then, in parallel to that, I'll continue to enchant the naturally decently-rolled ones through the slower weaver process in the hopes that I'll eventually get a naturally decently-rolled one that will have the more desirable weaver and corruption affixes.

Given that it took me this long to get that max roll corruption effect I don't know how quickly this is going to work, but that may just be because I wasn't corrupting idols that often. This might be faster than what I'd been doing, and might be something others might want to try doing as well.

Discussion The amount of new content announced for the upcoming poe league makes LE look really lame

A lot of poeple don't want to hear that and and will be like "you can't compare LE to Poe or D4" but ofc you can and you have to as its mostly target the same audience.

It's insane how much new content they add with multiple leagues per year while LE has basically the same endgame for like years now.

What a shame, I wanted LE to become a strong contender and a true alternative in the arpg market, but the reality is the gap is widening every year.

Question? What is a "timebeast"?

I have this "timebeast echo chain" in a monolith, but I can't find any info with a web search (Google's hallucination bot thinks it's the same thing as a Rift Beast). What is it? Is this echo chain just going to be full of random rift beasts?

Question? Subskill Scaling

Do sub skills found in a skill's tree scale off of damage, pen, crit, etc..that states the main skill as the beneficiary?

I've been scared of trying things like baby scorpions or fire aura because im confused.

I believe dots scale off if damage gains to the skill that triggers them but im not sure about sub skills

EHG Reply Was the downfall of this game really that surprising?

For over five years, we have been pointing out issues with the endgame, bugs, and balance. Back then, if we posted that kind of feedback here, blind "fans" would immediately downvote you to hell, saying stuff like "bugs don't exist" or "the endgame is perfectly playable as it is."

In the end, they did nothing about those issues for over five years, and now it's finally a game that nobody plays. They neglected the most important aspect of a hack-and-slash game for over five years and lost the community's trust. Wow, who could have possibly seen that coming?

People say, "The development scale is different compared to PoE," and sure, that might be true for adding content. But in a normal development environment, tweaking skill or item numbers takes seconds. Honestly, there are plenty of solo-developed games that patch balance more than ten times as often as LE. Don't tell me that just messing with the numbers won't result in proper balance. The game isn't properly balanced anyway, so it's not like it can get any worse. If that's the case, shouldn't they have at least adjusted things at regular intervals to keep players engaged? The only reason they didn't is because EHG's development stance is basically "who gives a shit. lol"

I'm an old player who has been around since EA, back when the graphics were pretty terrible, and I was one of the people who actually had high hopes for this game. I'm genuinely sad that the game is dead. But it deserved to die. In fact, I even think the failure of this game is a good thing for the ARPG industry. LE's death probably gave GGG some peace of mind, but it also served as a harsh reminder that "if you don't do thing you should , players will abandon you". If a game like this survived, it would have just set a terrible precedent that you can make a game while completely disrespecting the players and it'll still sell because the ARPG community is full of idiots.

Another thing this made me realize is that fans who blindly praise a game are cancer to it. Like I said at the beginning, a handful of crazy fans were shouting that the balance and endgame were fine and that there were no game-breaking bugs, which completely erased any proper feedback. So, if EHG was looking at the community's opinion to determine their development priorities, they were also victims of their own stupid fanbase in a way. Yeah, I'm talking to you. The one who treated people giving valid feedback as haters and thought you were a "true fan". You're the one who killed the game. good job

Question? Help me understand Truesight Glass

My VK build is currently going through a complete rebuild and I looked to this unique for a potential DPS increase I can also use to open up some slots on gear thanks to the crit strike avoidance.

I came upon a weird interaction, and I haven't found a convincing answer, so here's my question:

1) If you have over 100% crit chance (say, 140 for easy math) and you use the Void Cleave node to guarantee ES crits, how does that interact with the unique? Does the fixed chance to crit bypass the chance for a Deadly Strike (if it sets crit chance to 100%, then that would theoretically erase chance above 100%), and therefore, not work with the node?

2) I asked this question in chat before and someone told me that this unique doesn't even work with Erasing Strike and you can't big crit with the skill so it's worthless? Same with Warpath. They didn't explain how or why it is that way, so I'm not yet convinced. Does anyone have an answer to this? What's up with that?
