This classic landscape is under threat
If you've ever photographed the Little White Church, Crystal Lake, or the view of Lyman Mountain in Eaton, I'd love to see your photos.
For many of us, this is one of the most iconic and recognizable landscapes in New Hampshire. Whether you visited during peak foliage, on a snowy morning, or just happened to stop while driving through, chances are you have a favorite picture.
Today, our community has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect that view. The landowners have agreed to sell the 116-acre property instead of moving forward with a proposed logging project—but only if we can raise $500,000 within the next 30 days.
I'm a board member of the Eaton Village Preservation Society, and we're working to preserve this landscape for future generations. This isn't about being anti-logging. Forestry has always been an important part of New Hampshire. This effort is about protecting one uniquely significant landscape that has been treasured by residents, photographers, and visitors for generations.
Show us your favorite Little White Church, Crystal Lake, or Lyman Mountain photo in the comments! I'd love to see how many people have been inspired by this special place over the years.

Photo Almost a Painting?
Caught this above a vast river delta during a flight near Surat, India. The branching waterways, geometric fields, and soft blue haze made it feel more like a painting than photographs. Couldn’t resist in sharing 3 at a time.
