Updated Rules - Going Forward Update (March 2026)

Hello Everyone!

We have some new rules going forward to help cut down on some spam that’s been happening recently. It’s gotten out of hand. From AI posts to people posting links to external websites that have nothing to do with landscape photography at all.

This sub has grown exponentially over the past 2 years. It has become a lot to handle and I had felt myself burnt out. Some mods went dark, and I had help from only one active moderator, who has been a huge help in doing what he could.

With that said, HERE are the updated rules:

• We added the addition of no links to any external websites or social platforms. It just got way too out of hand. So if your post is removed for this reason, don’t take it personal, it’s a new rule going forward and we ask that you post your own content, link free.

• We also revised the rule of what qualifies as a landscape photography image. I want this to be a welcoming place, with people from all skill levels being able to participate. We occasionally get images with human made objects, such as buildings. I am completely fine with this, as long as it helps compliment the scene, and does not overtake it. It is up to the personal moderators discretion whether they think it passes or not. And if for any reason, one of your images is removed and you are not in agreement then feel free to DM me. We can review and go over it together. I don’t want this to be a community that rejects photography. So for now, we’ll run with this and see how it works. If it’s too harsh and we get too many complaints, I am afraid we’ll have to dial it back and get strict, make clear statements about human made objects in the scene. I don’t want to be like other subreddits that remove anything with a hint of a human touch in it. So for now we’ll roll like this.

We are also going to get strict with bans. I don’t want any hate to occur in the subreddit. If any at all, it’s a permanent ban. Breaking the rules will also result in a ban. This can occur with breaking any rule once, or multiple times. If it is broken for violating a rule once then other factors come into play.

For instance, if you seem to be spamming our subreddit along with multiple others with the same post/message that breaks our rules, then you will be banned. This has mainly only been associated with bot accounts. I don’t see this really needing to be deployed on personal accounts unless we deem it critically necessary, to make this a safer space. This is just one example, but it should make the idea clear. If you happen to post a link to your website on a post and we remove it, it wouldn’t warrant a ban unless it was a repeated violation or a link to an explicit website or similar.

Now with that out of the way, we are looking for more moderators! If you’re a regular here in this community and want to help make it a better space, then please submit an application! You can always DM me if you can’t find it as well. I will probably be going through looking for a good handful of moderators, this sub has a ton of users. When I first took it over, we had less than 20k. Right now we are working our way to almost 200k+ and I suspect we’ll be past that by the time 2026 is over! So please do apply!

Thank you!!

The mod team

Recently took a trip to Mt. Rainier for the first time and it was incredible. Wildflowers on full display, lots of wildlife and meadows! Summerland was difficult to complete but so worth it to see the glacier at the top! All shot on iPhone!

I find landscape photography to be so hard, but this background definitely helps!
