I owned a pair of 99 D2's for years. Still miss them to this day. Never had more fun than taking my family thru the Colorado mountain trails in my old Disco. Driving felt comfortable, capable and confident no matter if i was downtown or down a trail. Sure, they always needed a little work - but honestly that was a small part of the fun.

Over the years I've noticed a steep decline in what I believe a Land Rover is suppose to be. I think they grew to look terrible (although the Defenders are still pretty rad..), I think they are less capable and generally speaking, i don't think that the majority of todays new LR drivers even care if they can go places other cars cant. And then upon seeing these new Range Rover and Freelander models - i just think LR have completely given up trying to be what they once were.. I couldn't be more grossed out by these new releases..

Don't get me wrong. I still love older Land Rovers with all my heart and given the right circumstances i would buy one in a heartbeat. I just wanted to rant and see if i'm not alone in my disdain for what this manufacturer has become.

I just bought this 2017 supercharged with 100k miles on it for 11k. Is this an ok deal? What should I expect maintenance wise for a 100k milage range rover?

I don't really know much about range rovers, but I bought it for the DVD display (for kids), cooler( for kids), & matte green with black which I thought was great! Also, I think superchargered is an engine equivalent to my Escalade (LOVE my Escalade).

Evening all, finally got around to buying a 2014 Freelander 2.

The central locking is slightly buggered - front n/s does not open from fob & both rear doors do not lock.

I can temporarily solve this using the child locks, but does anyone know a good long term fix? Tia

All joking aside, it was a minor issue that the mechanic fixed in 5 minutes. A wire came off the ignition coil/relay. I thought I checked, but that’s why you have good mechanics. Getting new oil and a few minor things to justify the tow.

Hi everyone Im in my 20s from the Philippines and am planning on purchasing an ex mod 1987 D90 defender single cab pick up truck

The cost is quite high at almost 19,000 euros or 21,000 dollars out here. Just wondering if you think the value would hold knowing it is a 38 year old car.

So I live in Ontario, Canada and recently came across a picture on Facebook of a TDV8 L322 cruising around Toronto, UK numberplates still on it and all. The owner commented and said he imported it from the UK and the process wasn’t bad at all. There was also a discussion about how because of ULEZ restrictions and higher road tax, and just the UK having much more of a surplus of these cars, they have become MUCH cheaper to purchase in the UK than here.

I’ve been longing for an L322 or LR3 really bad, and at any given time there are less than a handful of actual decent examples for sale in the entire country, and even then, we were only limited to the 4.2SC or 4.4 and rust is a huge concern.

It got me thinking, how cool would it be to import a TDV8 or something and have a Landy that basically no one else here has? And while I know there is still rust in the UK, it has got to be better than this salt brine wasteland in the winter. I imagine it’s much easier to find a relatively clean low mileage example in the UK than it is here.

I’m also thinking because the same car was sold here in Canada, you could possibly insure it and register it just like you would a normal CADM Range Rover, as opposed to importing something like a Toyota Crown, and no ins. company wants to touch it because they don’t know what it is and the ministry doesn’t have any information on it.

Has anyone ever done this or considered it? Do you think it could be cheaper than say, importing a JDM car from Japan? Terrible idea? Let me know your thoughts, just an idea that popped into my head.

My mechanic has said the alternator pulley is the cause of the squeak on my disco 3 when turning off but I can't seem to find the Overrunning Alternator Pulley (OAP) separate to the alternator? Does anyone know the part number or who sells one? I'm located in Australia

Starts fine but the solenoid wouldn't allow me to put it into gear. I had to have it towed to my mechanic. Please keep my pride and joy (and my wallet) in your thoughts. I have vowed to keep her on the road as long as possible. On a side note - 135,000 miles, regular maintenance, and this is the first issue I've had in the past three years so I am hopeful it's a one off.

I found this lovely series 2 Disco for sale near(ish) to me. Originally from CO so probably little rust, head gaskets done recently and the interior is beautiful (No sunroofs, what a shame) It does have the three amigos no surprises there. But it also has a bad transfer case. I've done Subaru head gaskets and I'm wondering compared to that, how bad is the job? I have access to a lift and some mechanics tools. Any advice is good advice!

I am looking for some advice on restoring the rear brake light cages on a 2001 P38.

I just recently inherited a Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE that had been sitting for a greater part of 10-12 years, and the exterior needs some work. This is a very sentimental project, so I don’t care about keeping it stock or anything just making sure it looks nice and drives well.

I just finished getting the suspension, engine, tires, and transmission all up to drivable, but I really know nothing about exterior work. Is there a way to restore this metal to look better? It’s not the same materials as the front grill (which is some kind of padded rubber enamel/layer or something), and using like a vinyl buffer like for the plastic trim won’t do anything on it either. I found some for sale on eBay that look almost similar in wear and are selling for $600, so Im skeptical I can find any replacement parts.
