Medicare Day of Action
Join local activists at Medicare's birthday party, also known as Medicare Day of Action, Thursday 7/30 at 11am at the Lacey office of Rep. Marilyn Strickland. We'll share some personal stories about how crucial Medicare has become as a safety net, and we'll deliver a letter to Rep. Strickland (or her staff) urging her to support Medicare For All legislation to create the universal healthcare we all deserve.
Come for the cake, stay for the community and the righteous glow of populist politics!

Washington Connections Academy Administrative Assistant Interview
I have an upcoming interview for an Administrative Assistant position with Washington Connections Academy.
Has anyone interviewed there before, especially for an administrative or student services role? What questions did they ask, and what was the interview process like?
I’d also love to hear what the hiring managers seemed to value most and if there were any questions that caught you off guard.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Vote for Nic Dunning for Thurston County Commissioner Position 5!
Nic Dunning is a strong candidate for Thurston County Commissioner Position 5 because he emphasizes common-sense solutions, particularly improving the county’s approach to homelessness by combining housing with treatment and accountability. The other candidates bring valuable experience in their fields, but Dunning stands out for his focus on practical policy changes that can deliver better results in the primary.

LGBTQ+ Memorial
Dedication Ceremony of LBGTQ+ Community Memorial Event!
Tomorrow, July 10th 2pm Forest Cemetery (2501 Pacific Ave. SE Olympia WA 98501)
Hello everyone, I work as a director at our local family owned funeral home. Some of you may have seen us at Pride, we were the funeral home holding space for those who have lost loved ones from our community. Many of you were able to create special memorial hearts in honor of those loved ones. We're going to be burying those hearts at a dedication ceremony this Fri July 10th 2pm at Forest Cemetery. We're inviting everyone to come to this important event, as we create this dedicated garden area for the queer community.
We are encouraging people to bring letters/photos/keepsakes of anyone you wish to honor. There will be space to recognize specific loved ones. DM me for any questions.
Please come and show your support as we create this space to permanently memorialize everyone of our community we've lost.
Please be aware that any unwanted drama or harassment will not be tolerated. If you come to this event held at a sacred resting place and do just that, you will be asked to leave.

Therapist
Hi- I’m looking for a preferably female therapist in Lacey or Olympia that you’d recommend. And or a great therapist for kiddos. I’ve been dealing with a severely abusive/narcissistic divorce and I moved here from out of state so I’m no longer able to see my previous therapist.

Fire off of 6th Ave.
There was a fire that started behind Just Cuz Cafe in the apartment dumpster…yall stay safe out there. I heard someone screaming “FIRE!” Over and over (valid response)And looked across the way to see giant flames. Looked like maybe someone started it or it was from a fire work, but I didn’t hear any near by when it happened so I’m not sure.
LFD responded pretty fast as well as LPD. I don’t think it spread to the actual complex but jeez…it was close.
Make sure to thank all the first responders and paramedics you know, or at least keep them in your thoughts 😬

Fireworks Madness
Didn't know there was a neighborhood fireworks contest happening, lol.
People are trying to outdo one another, it's mesmerizing to watch and a bit chaotic.
Hope they have fun and stay safe!

Free Cat
Hello, I’m in a difficult situation and need to find a loving new home for my cat, Kisa.
I’ve had her since February of this year. She is a rescue — my work bestie found her sitting on her doorstep, and the poor thing stayed there the entire time. My friend lives in an apartment complex with many military families, so I suspect Kisa may have been left behind when someone moved away.
Kisa is a very sweet girl, and I truly wish I could keep her. I would prefer for her to go to an indoor only home. She has been outside a few times, but only under supervision.
Unfortunately, ever since I had her spayed in April, she has become very aggressive toward my dog. Last evening, I was nearly hurt while trying to intervene during one of these incidents. Because of this, I believe she would do best in a home without other pets or small children.
My dog is very gentle and well-behaved and does not do anything to provoke her. I have taken her to the vet multiple times regarding this aggressive behavior. I’ve tried pheromone plug-ins, pheromone collars, calming treats, and eventually Prozac. She has since refused to take it, and it also seemed to cause constipation.
I’ve invested a lot of time, care, and money into helping her because I truly want what’s best for her. Finding her a safe and loving home would mean so much to me. She will also come with all of her supplies and belongings at no cost.
Name: Kisa
Age: Approximately 4 years old
Color/Breed: Tabby
Gender: Female

Intercity Transit New Route Thoughts
Alright y'all, I am not a fan of the new bus routes.
I've already established that in my other post about intercity Transit.
As a whole, it's not terrible. Having more bus lines is great, and I'm happy I can go to Yelm on the same bus without having to worry about a transfer. Most drivers are friendly and courteous.
What I'm not a fan of is how late the bus routes often are after the remodeling of the entire system. 9X and 72 are on time usually during the week, but it seems lately that 72 is arriving later and later every day. Today, it was over 30 minutes late. It has been late for the past 4 days. At least 64 was on time! Seriously, what's the deal with the bus being so late every day?
Is it so hard to run a bus line on time?
Apologies for ranting again about this system, I just wish it was on time more often.

Anyone else in the south part of Lacey hear a giant boom?
Just got home from work, and what sounded to be like a gunshot or a car back fire just echoed through the neighborhood of Horizon Pointe. Anyone know what it was?
